I searched for this topic and cant find anything. So I wanted to ask how your restriction is doing. I really don't want mine to ever go away. But I hear it kind of gets less and less. Are there any people out there who had a VSG years ago and still feel a very strong restriction when eating? What can I expect?

Hey guys, just wanted to get some clarity about what are full liquids vs clear liquids? Also, when did your surgeon have you all start clear liquids only pre-operatively? I am on 4 protein shakes per day and I am sick of the sweet. Surgery is October 4th. I am wondering what I could do besides premier protein shakes from now until surgery.

I started noticing increased hair loss at 2.5 months post-op. I'm almost 4.5 months out now, and I'm still losing handfuls every day. My hair is looking terrible. Can anyone tell me how long it takes to stop falling out? And how long it takes to start growing back? I'm very careful about my protein and vitamins, so I'm really surprised it's been this bad. I'm open to any and all advice. Thanks!

Hi All, So I am 10 months PO and I have a small bump/ball like item in my abdomen, maybe a little up and to the side of the large incision area. I had a CT scan a couple of weeks ago and everything showed up fine. Has anyone else had this? I asked to be put back on Protonix, as I think this started happening a little after the 3 months I was on it right after surgery... and my doctor just put me on Hyoscyamine to see if that would help as well. I dont have pain... it's just a annoyance as if I am leaning to the right side too long it's like HELLO! I'M HERE!... and then I readjust and it goes away. Thank you!

I was never a big milk drinker before my bypass. I am day 12 today post op and doing liquid diet. Drinking skimmed milk with protein powered or just plain. Had no problems until yesterday when I got tummy pains and an upset tummy, tried again today, soup no problem, yogurt no problem but just drank my milk and pain again Is there an alternative that we are allowed that is still high in protein? Im in the UK so food items might be different. Would love your views on this please

Hey, May sleevers! How are you doing? Any updates? Progress? Frustrations? Successes? I'm at 58 # down now (48 since surgery) and feeling amazing. So healthy! Trying on new clothes makes me happy! Frustrated sometimes that I can still eat very little at a time, but that's the whole point, so I tell myself to chill. How is everyone else?

I'm 2 weeks post op. The paperwork ik was given when discharged from the hospital outlined each food stage at 2 weeks in length, liquids, pureed, soft foods, normal diet. However, the weight loss center than I'm required to go to the nutrition classes through, are very adamant that I must stay in each food phase for a full month. What is yours like? I'm really curious as to why I was given such different information. HW: 227.6 SW: 219.9 Current weight: 209.6

Exactly what the title says... I've researched this surgery up and down. I know it is the right choice for me. I am not concerned about the strict diet afterwards (I have lost over 100 pounds in the past through diet and exercise). I'm just having this really irrational fear of the recovery pain. I just want to know what to expect but of course everyone has a different experience. Especially with a lot of people posting "I have really high pain tolerance but..." lol. I don't even know what kind of pain tolerance I have. Sorry for this whiney fear-induced post.

I am not one to go on Social media and post these type of pictures, as I hate calling attention to myself and I cant stand looking at my pre op self. With that said I figured this was the best place to do it since we are all on similar paths and it might motivate someone who is on the fence about this decision... It is not easy changing the way you eat or live but dammit its worth it, this process is hard and slow but happens at a blink of an eye keep grinding away and those small victories will add up to your end goal... Anyone here start around or at 500 lbs.? I'm currently 480 and 5' 11". My goal would be to be at 200 lb. in 2 years with a stretch goal of 170 lb. Are these possible with the sleeve? Or would I be better off with a bypass. Has anyone here done something similar? Thanks

I had my surgery on October 4 and I am 2 days out from surgery and I feel miserable. Is this normal? All I want to do is lay in bed all day. How long before I start feeling better? I can't keep any water down. I chugged too fast yesterday and threw up stomach bile. I don't think I even get down 16 oz of water per day. Am I facing dehydration?

Hi! I’m almost 12 week’s post op and I’m feeling great. I am, however, covered in bruises. Is this a side effect of the surgery? Thanks for any input. Ps: yes I’ll ask my doctor at my next appt.

Marijuana is legal where I live. Yet broaching the topic with a doctor can be awkward. Where it's legal, you can pick strains for different things like nausea, pain, and not making you hungry. I don't smoke or eat it because I don't really like feeling stoned, but I wondered if anyone had success with it for nausea.

I realize everyone has different comfort levels in how much they like to share with people about their surgery. I have a few friends at work that I have told but I don't want to broadcast it to my entire company and am not sure if I want to tell my manager the specifics. What reason (if any) did you give for your absence from work?

Hello Peeps, I have not been on here in a long time mostly because I got burned out, nothing in particular drove me away but I just took some time off. I am 13 months out and had lost 110 pounds but I have since put about 15 pounds back on. I had lost that 110 pounds in about 7-8 months post surgery, then I stalled and did not lose any weight for about 2-3 months and have since started to gain. I dont feel like going into all the details about what I have been eating and what my exercise routine is and all that stuff. I simply want everyone to know that you can in fact gain weight after getting the gastric sleeve if you are not careful and you do not follow the diet…

I am 7 weeks post op and my appetite is back. Not as ravenous as I once was, so that is good, but I am hungry more often than every 3-4 hours and really, all I want to eat is cheese. I'm also craving peanut butter. Both are okay in small amounts but neither should be used for protein. Hit me up with your ideas for meals at this stage that satisfied those savory/fatty/creamy cravings.

So I've had thick hair all my life, and it's been long for almost 2 years now with just trims here and there. I'm starting to notice now though, for the past two weeks or so, that my hair is falling out very rapidly. I knew it was a side effect, though I can't help but panic a little bit about it. Every time I shower a big clump comes out in the shower, and then when I brush my hair it fills my hairbrush about halfway of more hair. I was thinking maybe if I got my hair cut short, it will help since it wont need to be brushed as much, and it might look better when it starts regrowing? Was wondering who all else has went through hair loss and if the…

Hi all- I’m new here. This is my first post. I just came home from my In-take appointment into a bariatric program. I’m full of many different feelings at the moment. The bad- am I making the right decision? Will people think I took the “easy way out”, Can I really beat my food addiction? How floppy will my stretched skin be? Etc Then I’m thinking about the positives- walking around the store without being out of breathe and sweaty, not getting the eye when I take the elevator up a flight of stairs because I get out of breathe and my knees hurt, being able to go and walk around car shows with my fiancé and actually have fun, be able to sit on any chairs again, not having …

So today was my final appt. before my surgery September 7th, doctor went over labs with me and advised me my Hemoglobin is low and advised me to take 325mg's of Iron daily but all else is ok with lab, so we're ready to go on that note, but he also advised me about my past GERD's issue and stated he think I would benefit from having the Gastric Bypass instead of the sleeve since I have been having on and off issue with Acid Reflux and he said that if I currently have an issue with it and get sleeved it could get worse so he'd would be willing to do the Gastric Bypass on me that way I can avoid having to get a revision later, but mostly likely that would be the outcome if I…

Hello all I'm new here. I was just sleeved on 10/04. So far I am doing okay. I have a lot of gas pain and am a bit sore. My surgeon wants us to drink 1-1.5 bottles of clear isopure a day and I can't even choke that stuff down without wanting to throw up. What else can I drink to get my protein in?

I am 7 weeks in. I still have no idea what to eat. I’ll tell you what I ate yesterday. Morning: 1 cup fairlife milk (120 cals) Lunch: 2 cheese ball snacks (140 cals) Snack: Plum Snack: 1/2 cup turkey chili Dinner: 4 thin slices of steak Snack: 1/2 cup Wendy’s chili See? I just suck at eating. Also, I don’t know what to eat if I’m out. I want something easy.

For those of you that have to take multiple pills at one time, how are you doing it? I need to take 4 pills at one time each night and I’m curious how to handle this once I’m sleeved. I usually throw them all back at once and swallow but I don’t think that’s going to work anymore. Are you just swallowing them one at a time every few minutes or so? So much to learn with this. Thanks.

Hi all - I had gastric sleeve surgery 2/5 years ago. For the past few months I have been having dumping syndrome. The reading I have done all says that it comes from eating simple carbs. And if I do eat cookies (my main downfall in life) I tend to get it. But I will get it when eating non-simple carbs. For instance, this morning I had a egg for breakfast and had a fairly bad "attack". It seems to be more of an issue in the morning, than other times of the day. Has anyone experiencing dumping syndrome found ways of preventing it? Thanks

I started on phase 3 on 9/5/18 which is the pureed phase. Yesterday I had scrambled eggs with a little Mayonnaise and a Protein Drink for Breakfast, for lunch one Protein Shake, and for a snack a popsicle and a small thing of sugar free pudding, and for dinner I had 3 oz of tilapia with a homemade dill sauce and pureed cauliflower mixed with almond milk and I Can't Believe It's Not Butter and a Protein drink for a snack. This morning I had a scrambled egg with a little bit of light mayonnaise and a protein drink. Everything that I ate went down very well and most importantly it stayed down, I'm very thankful that I'm doing so well, I go back to the doctor on Monday for a …

Maybe it’s a little too early but I am concerned about how much water I drink per day. If I drink more than 8 ounces that’s a lot. I do take sips of broth three times a day which is about 1/4 cup each. I can’t even eat Jell-O because it does not agree with me. I try to drink a little bit of a protein shake last night and I had to drink that very slowly. What’s going to happen when it’s time for me to have cream soups? I’m not hungry at all. Is this normal?

I’ve been reviewing a lot of “weight loss/bari-friendly” tupperware products lately; I start work again in 2 weeks and want the habit in place. My difficulty is finding something that works for me size-wise. Even the child sized options are a bit big and I am someone who does best with smaller plates. Any suggestions? I really liked the idea of finding tupperware with appropriate portions all in one container, even though I could just as easily make due with several small containers. I’m being a princess right now. ?

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with a gastric ulcer post op? I’m three and a half weeks post op VSG and I’ve had really bad nausea starting this past Saturday. I was also unable to keep much of anything down. Finally got in to see my surgeon yesterday and also had a barium swallow test, blood test, And B1 injection. The barium swallow test showed that everything is fine structurally, but they did suspect a gastric ulcer. My surgeon made a call and got me into a gastroenterologist office to have an H. Pylori test. That came back negative, so we are treating like it is an ulcer. Back on carafate and two different PPIs. The NP called today to tell me my labs lo…

Is anyone experiencing major fluctuations in body temperature? I am a month post-op and have been noticing that I am always extremely cold. I have always had a bit of a cold intolerance (pre-surgery) as a symptom of my hypothyroidism. But now I find myself bundling up everywhere and it’s not even winter yet. I am thankful I do not live somewhere it snows or I don’t know what I would do. Has anyone experienced this and found a way to overcome?

Hello. I am new on the board and am in the pre-op stage for Gastric Sleeve. My surgery will be either early November or late December. I hope to find out for sure this week. My question is in regards to chiropractic adjustments. I've been having regular adjustments but I'm wondering if this is something I should put a pause on until after recovery? Has anyone had adjustments (specifically for their back and hips) post-op? I have to lie on my stomach and there is a good amount of force and I don't want to cause any damage or unnecessary stress to my stomach during recovery. Thanks so much for your feedback.

Hi all! I’m currently coming up to my 4 month post op mark and I’ve been working out pretty much every day but lately I’ve been getting super super super tired. Not being able to finish a full hour workout I’m maxing out at 35 mins. My hair is also falling out like crazy. I’m up to between 600-800 cals a day. I’m good with liquids getting between 2-3 liters of water per day. Protein could be better, I’m averaging between 40-70 grams of protein a day. I know I need to be better but I’m doing the best I can with it ,including supplementing with shakes and focusing on protein rich foods. I’m struggling because of the small quantities I can eat so I’m getting 25g of p…
