well Its done! I feel really great today. yesterday I slept most of the day and walked last night. The GI test came back good this morning so on liquids. Only the nurse said to drink 1 ounce every half hour. I am now trying my chicken broth. It seems to hurt a little going down but overall I feel great. There was a bit of gas that I burping up once I started walking and drinking. My drain they said is filling too fast so the Dr stopped the blood thinners for now to see if it slows down.. but I have walked the hallway 3 times today so far and will try and walk each our especially since they stopped the blood thinners.. getting a little tired though.. sleepy rather.. man th…

I have been feeling frustrated, and I figured I would share with others who may have experienced it or currently feel this way. I was sleeved three weeks ago on 10-17. I am currently in a 4 week soft food stage- if I can mash it with a fork I’m allowed to have it. I have been slightly stretching what is and isn’t a soft food, and I worry I’m going down the wrong path. I am finding it very very frustrating to stay under 800 calories, but I don’t know if that’s because I am actually hungry or if it is all head hunger. I do feel like volume wise I am able to consume more that I should, or at least do it out of old habits. I also do occasion feel like a gnawing in my st…

I had my surgery 5 weeks ago. I am down a total of 24 lbs but in that time I lost most of it in the first 2 weeks, then stalled the 3rd week and week 4 lost close to 10 lbs. In the last week I have lost nothing again. I am doing everything the way I was instructed. I drink fluids, get 60-80 grams of protein daily, take my vitamins and am slowly incorporating solids into my diet. I do not eat anything I shouldn't. Mainly protein, veggies and fruit once a day. I make my own protein shakes. I cannot work out due to having severe spinal stenosis and degenerative disc disease in my lower back. I cannot walk for long periods of time. I was told I can swim but not until after I …

Hello! I just wanted to ask as I'm just 12 days post-op but I am struggling with getting my protein in. I would hit just about 15-20 grams and my doctor wanted me to hit 50 a day. How many grams of protein did you hit when you were at this stage? I'm still at the full liquids stage and I'm having a hard time with my protein shakes and protein water as I just can't get them down. Am I doomed?

I am 3 weeks out from my surgery, still losing at least a pound a day. Eating right, drinking enough liquids, taking all my vitamins and staying as active as possible. We live in Vegas and the weather is great, my hubby and I like to go for nice long walks on the strip and people watch I feel great! Getting really excited, my 3x clothes are already getting to be too baggy for me. I have a donation bag started! I am so motivated to lose this weight and just wanted to see how quickly everyone hit their goal and when the "honeymoon" weight loss stops. I'm truly enjoying the pound a day loss, but don't expect it to continue forever. Hope everyone is doing fabulous!

Vertical gastric sleeve (VGS) to Mini Gastric Bypass (MGB) ? I was sleeved about 7 years ago in Mexico. The operation added about 90 pounds of weight loss over 18 months. However unfortunately, after several years and a couple of babies, the weight has come back on. I’m exactly where I was seven years ago. ? I feel my pouch has been stretched slowly over the years and my metabolism is shot. Not uncommonly, one of the side effects of the sleeve was terrible heartburn. I’ve been taking a prescription grade antacid since my surgery. I recently read that this particular bariatric side affect has been linked to stomach cancer. ? I recently consulted with bariat…

Hello everyone. I'm new to this forum, but hope to connect with others to get support, information, etc. I'm scheduled for my surgery 10/22 with Dr. Peter Billing at Eviva in WA State. I'm excited but a bit nervous, since this will be such a life changing thing. Any words of wisdom for me from those who've gone through it? Thanks!

I have a question for those who have had Bariatric Surgery. How is your health compared to what it was before? I know many people have major health concern before surgery and they are cleared up once the weight is lost. But has anyone’s health declined? Do you catch the “common cold” more often? Are you on different medications? I’m very curious about this, I’ve heard conflicting arguments.

I met with my nutritionist yesterday and was overwhelmed:) I know that my intake will be super low following surgery- so I'll have to used other methods besides just food in order to meet my daily protein requirements. What brand/types of protein powders do you recommend/like to add to liquids/meals in order to get in the daily protein requirements? There are so many to choose from!

Had my sleeve done three weeks ago today. I’m down 16 pounds since the surgery and 31 pounds since the pre-op diet. I’m happy with the results but I did step in the scale this morning hoping to see lower numbers. I’m trying to only weigh myself once a week. I can’t wait to start working out again. I do think that’ll help. Drinking has gotten much easier and I’m so happy to eat solid foods again. I did try some deli turkey yesterday and that didn’t go so well! I’ve made some delicious soups and chicken chili with lots of beans. All of it went down well. My nutritionist suggested I write down what I’m eating with the amount of protein so I can keep track. I’m going to…

.... In the past I have loathed shopping for them and that old familiar feeling is still strong. I know I need to at least buy a pair or two of jeans. My three surviving pairs are either falling off of me or have holes from where my thighs have been rubbing together. These jeans are over 2 years old and lived a long life but I hesitate. I’ve become a non brick and mortar shopper and the thought of setting foot in a store makes me nervous. Have any of you experienced a reluctance to shop for clothes; online or in person? Maybe have some fear that you won’t see your progress reflected in the sizes you where?

Hello, I had surgery on 8/21. I lost 10 pounds in the first eight days after surgery -- and nothing since. I've heard about a typical "stall" at week 3, but nothing this early. I transitioned to pureed food yesterday (at 2 weeks, 2 days -- because my surgeon was out of town for the holiday and I needed to wait for him to return). I have followed the diet without cheating. I have started exercising in the last week (just walking). I don't particularly feel hungry and I'm typically at 500 calories or less per day. I should add that I lost 13 pounds in the two weeks that I did the pre-op diet. All in all, 23 pounds down still feels fabulous. I guess I'm just surprised t…

Hey guys! I'm 10 days post-op and am now on the full liquids stage. I've been having the shakes, clear soups and blending some of the chunkier soups I have ( chicken, pumpkin and chowder) but I was wondering if any of you tried silken-tofu at this stage? Is it okay to have it in miso soup? Unblended? I mean it breaks down pretty easily as it's super soft but was wondering if this is okay. I've heard people blend it in shakes for some extra protein too but was wondering how it reacts to your new sleeves both blended and unblended? Thank you!

Hi everyone, I am new here and this is my first post. I am scheduled for surgery 11/15/18. I am a little concerned about some of the things I have read on here. Examples, weight stalling, this is a thing? & how long does this last? Also water, I love water. Will I ever be able to gulp water again and will it cause nausea? Very concerned about that, most importantly. A little freaked out about that and a million other things going through my mind.

Hi everyone, I wasn’t having this problem the first couple of days I started taking the complete chewable multivitamin by Celebrate, but I have just taken my first one today and I couldn’t keep it down. I tried to eat it along with unsweetened applesauce and usually I just get really nauseous, but up it came, apple sauce included. I had surgery on 10/8, so is this something that gets better with time? Has anyone else experienced and found relieve while getting the correct vitamin in? I’m supposed to take it twice a day but I would skip the night one honestly because that is when I would feel the most nauseous, I used to be okay taking it in the morning. Suggestions are we…

So there is an article on this site about the Premier Protein Shakes and the protein content being bunk. I have been living on these pre op and up until the soup phase just this week, and am still drinking them just because I have them. But it worries me that I and others may suffer from the lack of protein if the protein content is not accurate, which is supposed to be 30 grams per shake. Things like hairloss because of a protein deficit. Anyone else using Premier? What kind should I switch to? Here is the article: https://www.bariatricpal.com/magazine/701-premier-protein-–-not-premier-for-bariatric-patients/

I have been turning into a terrible infomercial subject! There is some weird infomercial that goes on and on about crepe-y skin and I never knew what they heck they were talking about, til now. I am only 5 days post-op and the skin on my stomach and thighs has turned into a thin, red, and itchy crepe paper textured mess. My follow up isnt for another 9 days and I feel like I am going crazy with the itching. Is there anything I can safely put on my tummy to moisturize it while the cement is still fresh on my surgical incisions? I feel like Ima gonna flay the flesh off my belly! aaaargh!

This is GROSS. Sorry ahead of time. When I eat small bites to fast. 1- I get the feeling that it is stuck in my throat and not going down. I take a couple of sips of water, thinking it will help. 2- The pressure in my chest and throat make me want to throw up. I try and all that comes up is foam. I take it this is NORMAL. It's happened twice and after the pressure is gone. Eating as slow as MOLASSES is going to kill me. You know how hard it is to have 2 or 3 small bites and everyone is gone eating. Anybody out there know what I'm talking about?

Yep, I eat them all. Love them. They're a daily part of my diet. Sometimes multiple times a day. OMG, they're carbs! Yep, they are. But they're not refined, over-processed, or bad. And you know what else they are? Excellent sources of plant based protein and fiber. A baked potato has 160 calories. By itself, it has 4g of protein. Throw some vegetarian chili on there and you're in the high teens. Awesome lunch! Brown rice...half a cup has around 100 calories and 3g of protein. Add some bean or peas and you've got complete amino acids...tons of protein... and a crazy awesome amount of fiber. Why is dietary fiber important? …
