So I am 41 years old,5’5, my highest weight is 231. I am currently 222.4. My surgery is scheduled for October 24th. As it gets closer I am very nervous. Questioning myself have I done everything possible to loose weight on my own. I gained most of my weight over the last 7 years. I did diets over the time loose 25 lbs but gain it right back. This happen repeatedly. I stopped taking birth control 2 years ago hoping to get pregnant. It never happened. I got my glucose checked Since Diabetes run in the family. My Ac1 was 6.8 the doctor put me on metformin said it could also work s a fertility. Next check up Ac1 7 and then went to 7.5. At that time my doctor retired and I saw…

I had the sleeve a little over 3 years ago, I lost 100 lbs, but gained 30 last year and then 24 during my pregnancy. I had my baby in June and I've lost 10 lbs but I can't seem to lose anymore. I really do not eat much, but I know I definitely do not eat all healthy. Unfortunately I have sugar cravings and eat a little something every now and then. What can I do to get back on track? I NEED to start losing again, I'm starting to hate myself.

Hello out there . I’m about 14 months post-op but new to these forums. I’m really looking for people to form a local support group of sorts. I would love the motivation and accountability of having people to workout with, hike with, etc. I go to my support group at UCLA monthly, but it is so far, and I would really like some support nearby. Is there anyone in the Central Valley area (Porterville, Visalia, Bakersfield, Fresno, etc.) that might be interested in talking and perhaps going to workout together?

I am in the final stages of being approved for my surgery. (CPAP use) and I was wondering if anyone had issues with their teeth after surgery? Meaning people with normal teeth before find they are brittle and get cavities worse than ever?

Hi everyone! Here is my experience with the sleeve so far. On the day of surgery I was 235lb. I am currently 204lb. I am happy with how much I lost. I feel better and more confident. People can tell I lost weight, and that makes me happy. What I wish people told me: I am still starving. I have terrible cravings. Nothing satisfies me ever. I want pizza and fast food and pasta and bread so bad. I just don’t do it because I now I have a horrible fear of food. I still have no idea how to eat. I just eat my protein first. Protein hits your stomach like a brick and you still aren’t satisfied; you are just uncomfortable so you don’t eat more. I barely e…

My sleeve was June 13th and I've had no real issues or problems, thankfully. But since Sunday morning I am struggling with getting my fluids in much worse than ever since my procedure. Every time I swallow it feels really weird in my throat like I've gulped a HUGE amount when I haven't and food made me nauseated when I would start eating. The nausea is better, but any swallowing (even little chunks of greek yogurt popsicle) is followed by that weird golf ball feeling in my throat/chest. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? Hot vs. cold beverages feel the same. About the only food that doesn't feel awful is scrambled eggs. This all began Sunday mor…

HI, So I have been waiting 2 years for this surgery, and I keep hearing people saying having support is 1 of the most important things. But I am feeling very unsupported right now, Everyone keeps saying "why dont you try losing weight the "normal" way" ( as if I haven't been trying to lose weight every other way possible)". I dont know how I am going to do this without any help, am I going to be able to break my bad eating habits ? Am I going to be able to motivate myself? How am I going to feel when something goes wrong or I'm not feeling well, will anyone understand or try to blame the surgery.

Yikes, you guys! This large left port site is really uncomfortable. Walking is so hard and I have to do it as often as possible. I can barely keep my pain medication down and anything much large than that is a no go. Intellectually, I know this will pass but could you guys, who have gone through it, reassure me? I’m feeling pretty rotten right now.

Hello, I am so frustrated I could cry, I have been waiting for a call back from my surgeons office . I had the appointment for the orientation and with the surgeon on 10 Sept. The nurse told me the person who would put in my referrals and who would let me know everything that I need to do has literally ignored my phone calls . I say this because when I called her from another number over a week ago she answered and tried to blow me off, but I kept her on the phone she told me the Dr. hadn't done the note and that she couldn't do what she need to do until she knew what he wanted. I felt like that was a BIG FAT LIE. I knew she was leaving soon , so I called Friday 28 …

Had surgery, sleeve, 2 days ago. I'm amazed how my movement is like normal. They don't tell you about the gas pain though. Extra night in hospital cuz the gas floated to my right shoulder, blood pressure was 195 over 120 cuz of that pain. Normally 130 over 72? Got it down with codeine. Otherwise Tylenol had taken care of any discomfort, just 1 tablet of the narcotic. It's over!

I've realized how much I rely on YouTube and Insta to help me through this wait for the actual procedure. I've had a lot of questions that have been more or less unanswered by staff and my doctor's office. Not that they aren't helpful or pleasant - it just seems that there are some questions they really can't answer (to cover their own necks). I've been wondering if I'd be comfortable sharing this whoooooole process online. It's very scary to me though. My before pictures alone are blackmail-worthy. So what do you guys think? Are you comfortable putting it all out there? Do you have Instagram/YouTube accounts solely for your sleeve experience?

I'm a little over 6 months post op, and this is my first week that I didn't lose some weight. I'm trying not to upset, because I had a big weight loss last week, a little over 6 pounds. I'm meticulous about tracking what I eat and drink, so I know that I've eaten well and drank well. I've also been exercising more than usual, so I think that the number will eventually show what I've been doing.

Hi all! So I had the sleeve done recently. The first week I lost 20 lbs and was very happy. I just finished my second week and the scale has not moved at all. I am following the doctors orders, getting all my fluids and protein. Granted I did very well the first week, it is a little discouraging. Anyone else experience this during their second week post op?

I’ve been dreaming of what I will do when the worst of the pain subsides and I no longer fit my jeans. I only own 3 pair and they are all maternity jeans. (My child is almost two.) While I greatly appreciate them serving their purpose, I look forward to burning them as a reward for all my hard work during this process. Do any of you have anything like this planned?

FINALLY!!! Info sent to Aetna for Approval on Sept. 22. Now the wait! Revision from Lap Band to Bypass. My lap band was placed in 2009, so I know I have scar tissue. I also have a large hernia. I pray and hope my surgeon perform both procedures at one time. I do no want to wake up and my surgeon tells me he only removed the band and I will have to reschedule for the bypass. That is my only fear, but I have a faith in him. He is an outstanding surgeon. Outside of that I am so excited

Hi everyone, I keep reading horror stories about Sleevers past 5 or 10 years. I’m wondering if there are any of veteran sleevers with no revisions, major miserable side effects, issues, weight gain from expanded sleeve, that are still thriving and happy with their choice? I’m a week post op and everyone’s horror stories are causing me major regrets and fear.

I'm 10 days post-op and feeling great, I haven't taken any pain pills in these 10 days. I'm drinking 3 premier protein shakes per day, 1 cup of cream of chicken or cream of mushroom soup strained, two sugar-free popsicles, 1/3 cup sugar free pudding and water. On average I'm consuming about 83 ounces of liquid. The doctor and the nutritionist said I am doing exceptionally well, I feel very blessed!

I have suffered from anxiety/depression/PTSD for the majority of my adult life. I am on Celexa 40mg and Xanax as needed for anxiety at bedtime. Recently (in the last year) I’ve worked very hard on my mental health issues: developing new coping mechanisms, upping my visits to my therapist, etc because I knew I wanted this surgery and I wanted to make sure I was in the best mind frame. The psych consult could have gone better and my second visit with her was when she informed me she would only conditionally approve me for surgery due to my anxiety and depression. This of course made my anxiety and depression worse, but I soldiered on, saw my therapist more often (the psych …

I've been hearing a lot of talk about slider foods since I joined this site, although posters have explained it I still really didn't fully comprehend it until I had a banana for a snack today. OMG who would have thought! I am 4 weeks post-op and can only eat about 2 oz of food at each meal, sometimes a little less so I was so surprised when I was down to the last bite of my banana and was thinking I pretty much ate the entire thing. I'm actually glad that I experienced it for myself, now I know to be watchful of slider foods and portion control. I'm loving my sleeve... Thanks guys for making me aware

I was just wondering if this is a normal thing people experience with a gastric sleeve. I've been having cramping in the spine area, it feels very rigid and painful. Could this be due to a pinched nerve or some sort of spinal disk thing? Has this happened to anyone? I was told your not supposed to be in any pain with this type of stomach surgery.

Hi I’m considering getting the sleeve done but I’m not too sure of the proper steps to take. Like should I consult with my PCP or should I look into an doctor who specializes in weight loss? What are some of the qualifications that you need to meet in order to qualify for the surgery? & what are some of the pre diets like?

Back on this site after no being on it in a year or two. It will be 7 years this Nov since my sleeve. Was well over 300 pounds, got down to 220s or so after my sleeve, back to up 260s after being undisciplined for a year or two and now back to around upper 240s. Sleeve helps, but isn't a free pass. Still have to be sensible. Hope to start being active here some again. Hope everyone is doing well with their sleeve and if in the sleeve considering stage, I'd advise to be informed and know that it will take work..but worth it in most cases....it sure was/is for me!

Hi all, My surgery is is 12 days and I have been slowly getting myself ready for post-op life. I have bought a food processor, water bottles, and a heating pad. As the day gets closer I'd like to buy some protein, soups, etc. Anything else you guys suggest? I will not not be cleared to drive until 8 days after my surgery and will only have someone with me for 4 of those days, so I feel like I need stock up on things now. Thank you!

Hi Sleeve Family I'm fairly new on here - but so happy to be here in a community that I can share with and learn from. My surgery is scheduled for 9/27 - in two weeks! I'm excited, nervous and a little scared. I started my 14 days liquid diet yesterday and it was ROUGH. My mind is playing tricks on me - that I'm HUNGRY the entire day. It's crazy, because I could go an entire day and not feel hungry until late in the evening - but yesterday morning I woke up - I actually smelled food cooking in my house (my hubby can't cook to save his life - so it was all in my mind) lol. Anyone has any recommendation for high protein shakes? I bought the one from my surg…

Hi Everyone, I'm frustrated with myself because I haven't lost as much as I expected. I got down to 207 but I've gained about 16 pounds back. I will be at the 18 month mark in October. Has anyone had success losing weight after the 18 month mark if they've made changes? Thanks!
