Love, love, love my Yonana's "ice cream" maker. You put frozen fruit in it...in particular, frozen bananas...and it make the most resplendent delicious frozen desert ever. You can mix it up with all sorts of frozen fruits, but in particular, I like being a purist and making pure banana....topping it with a little pinapple, some fresh sliced strawberries, sugar free chocolate sauce, lite whipped cream and pecans. This treat is legal on my plan and makes a wonderful compromise. Long live new habits:)

So I had my surgery yesterday at 7:30 in the morning! Woke up a little nauseous and sore but I had told them before surgery that anesthesia has a tendency to make me vomit so they had given me a cocktail of drugs to combat the worst of the nausea. Spent a good chunk of the day in bed sleeping or watching TV but I managed to get up to go to the bathroom and walk down the hall twice. Today I've already done two laps down the hall and am now sitting in the recliner instead of the bed which my nurse was ecstatic about. Hubby has been with me the whole time and has been a huge help. Have had no trouble with ice chips or liquids other than the occasional pressure in my stomach …

  4. WATERMELON. it's out of season and I cry a little every time I spend the big bucks...lol....but it's the treat I crave like nothing else. If anyone had told me I'd literally crave watermelon more than candy, donuts, fresh baked bread....I'd have said they were crazy. I bought a deli container of melon chunks and ate it in the car the other day. LOL. But I thought...ya know...this is the time I used to break down and get fast food...after shopping. It's a habit trigger. So, now I eat watermelon in the car after shopping. I can live with that compromise.

I am getting surgery next month and I’m just wondering how much has it changed peoples day to day lives. What are some things that I should expect? Best protein? Basically whatever info that is worth knowing.

  6. Had lunch with my boss today and was put up to trying the Impossible Burger. This thing is made from wheat and potato protein, coconut oil and heme extracted from plant sources. Yep...a vegan friendly burger...that bleeds. Weird, eh? But seriously...when the coconut oil sizzles on the grill and sears this stuff....and the irony heme tastes distinctly like grilled meaty juicy goodness... it tastes amazingly like real meat. I took about five bites and was stuffed....but I took the rest home and my hubby thought I was kidding about it being real meat. He was shocked and thought it was delicious. Yepper....I ate a few fries, too. And about two inches of a …

Any women out there gotten pregnant after the Gastric Sleeve? I have some questions for you. 1.) Was it your first baby after the sleeve or 2nd, 3rd etc. 2) Did you have a natural birth or delivered via C-section. 3.) Any complications after or during the pregnancy with either you or the baby? Would really appreciate honest answers. Thank you so much!

  8. https://www.lybrate.com/topic/benefits-of-brazil-nuts-and-its-side-effects Just one Brazil nut contains 90 micrograms of selenium, or 129 percent of the daily recommended intake. A true Super Food:) Be careful, though....too many Brazil nuts can be not only fattening, they can have toxic side effects. One of two a day, is perfect, and likely will provide some great benefits.

I only do clear liquid diet the day before,,,,,feeling very lucky. Good vibes accepted.

I am not going to put my surgeons office on blast just yet as I am waiting to see how they handle this, but I am very upset. When my wife and I first started this WLS journey we met with the finance department and went over all the costs and what our insurance would cover and what not. We were told at most we would each owe 3500.00 once it was all said and done. I had my surgery over 13 months ago and not once received a statement. I had been wondering what the deal was, no statements and no phone calls. Then this past week I get a statement showing that I owe for my surgery alone $9500.00 I was so pissed. I called the office and of course couldn’t get a hold of the lad…

Today is 4 week post op from the sleeve. I had a 3 week stall on the scale. Talk about frustrating. Don't know if it was my doing or just recovery time for the stomach. But it finally move on the scale today. Went to doctor today and I thought it's like when you bring your car in for service and everything is working just fine. LOL But the Doc said tracking it daily is ok but look at it as an average. What is the average weekly, monthly. Do not get hung up on the daily because it could be anything from holding water, bm, more muscle's. So tracking the average loss per week or month is a better guide of how you are doing. So that is a relief that nothing is…

I'm trying not to panic. I'm thinking of everything what I'm doing, is it right, wrong? What is going on? First couple of days weight is coming off just like before the surgery. Having hard time getting in all the 64oz. water like before. Taking me an hour to get down the 8 oz. protein shake, on 3 shakes a day now. Tried moving on to the puree food and the only thing will keep down is creamy soup. Tried smashing down, tuna, hard boiled egg. Nope came back up. I tried cottage cheese and ricotta it will stay down. Someone had said that maybe your intestine is inflamed from the cheese. So I stopped eating it and after 4 days went down one pound. So I'm not doing a…

However when i logged into my patient portal I saw under my upcoming appointments and procedures this: Planned Procedures Bypass operation of stomach using an endoscope Does that mean it was changed to bypass without me knowing it? Or is that just a generic term posted for it? I plan to call but he is out of the office this week.

Hello, I'm new here and just find this website on a google search. I've basically been on my own for a majority of my weight loss journey but now seem to be stuck. My highest weight was 410lb, surgery weight was 389, current weight is 295. Its been about 7 months since I had my surgery, March 23rd but in the last 5-6 weeks I haven't lost a pound. I walked about 4-5 miles daily and go to the gym 3 times a week or more. I have been doing some weight training and can feel that some fat has definitely been converted to muscle but for me to not lose weight in a month and a half seems off to me. I eat about 100-120 of protein a day 2 shakes a day and meats, some veggies but bes…

They didn't know that 9 months ago I was her size. I felt like a closeted fat person. A fraud. I came to her defense but they weren't having it. 19. If everything goes well my surgeon says I should only be in the hospital for one night but I am not sure how to "prepare" my five year old. I want to be extra careful since my father died suddenly over the summer and my daughter, though grieving appropriately, still has some fears of the unknown and I don't want to scare her. I'm thinking maybe having her sleep over my sister's house the night I am in the hospital but I'm not sure. What did you do/are you planning on doing to address your hospital stay with young kids?

Does anyone have an unquenchable thirst? I’m sipping water all day. Almost so much that I’m cutting into the 30 min window before and after eating and I may skip eating so I can continue drinking. I’ve tried iced water and cutting low sugar Gatorade with water but nothing is helping. It’s also annoying that I can’t do anything but sip. I really want to chug. Water was always my friend but now it’s not doing the job. Any tips?

I am very thankful for my insurance. The requirements are lengthy and, at times, tedious. 6 months Dr. supervised diet.....check. Psych eval.......check. Psych eval actually getting to surgeon and insurance......took two months, but check. I checked with my insurance many times to make sure everything was done. I still have "one" task to complete. I am 8 weeks post op. Yesterday I went to a baptism. There was cake, and I decided to have a few bites of my piece. Oh my goodness! I completely forgot about the dumping syndrome! I was in the car on my way home. It was a 1.5hour drive. I thought I was going to die. My poor belly. I was so nauseous and lightheaded and cramping so bad. I never want that to happen again. Anyone else experience this? Also, this was my first “cheat” and I can’t help but feel guilty.

  32. I'm scheduled for my sleeve surgery on 10/29. I live alone so I will be taking care of myself on my own. I was wondering what you all would suggest that I have around me while I recover. I already have all my meds so I'm good there. Are there products that you used that really helped you or maybe soft foods that you had available. Right now I'm feeling a bit unprepared and could really use some advise. Thanks in advance.

  33. I wanted to see if anyone else has had this post surgery complication. 18 months post surgery (no complications) I was rushed into the ER and very quickly to the operating table as my small bowel had become twisted around surgery scare tissue effectively causing the bowel to start strangling itself. I was incredibly fortunate to be right by a world class hospital when it struck and thankfully a quick thinking resident made a courageous call and got me on the operating table right away which probably saved my life. They were able to release the twist and by nothing short of a miracle the bowel did come back to life and I am not going to have to deal with some pretty lif…

So my husband, who is as slim as they come, asked me nicely if I would mind if he did Chic-Fil-A for lunch while we were running errands. I didn’t want to be a drag so I told him sure. Now that is one of my favs. Their waffle fries and chic-fil-a sauce are AMAZING! So I sat and smiled and fought through all the feels while he and our toddlers ate fries and chicken nuggets and a grilled chicken sandwich while I sipped on my water. It was probably the toughest moment so far Since the surgery. I have to say that I wasn’t that hungry so the hunger pains were minimal but I really wanted to just lick the salt off those fries. I have always hated exercise but I have learned, especially after my surgery, that it is a necessary evil for me to lose my weight. I had surgery on June 6th and am down 64lbs but I always, always dread going to the gym. I usually do 45 minutes of a fast pace walk and then 15 minutes of strength training. What do your workouts look like? I would like to switch it up a little but then again I am a stickler for routine and don't do well with change. Anybody else dread it as much?

Ok, (sigh) So BCBS has approved my surgery which I thought was for the Gastric Bypass. However the office attendant failed to file correctly and she submitted this for the sleeve. Some may think OH! A simple fix! ....No. Its not. I work for a string of hospitals and one of the perks is getting this surgery paid for minus one very small fee. ...Well if I get the Gastric Bypass it cannot be preformed at my hospital and they will have to out source which mean....I'll now be paying deductible and coins and copay... This was all just told to me btw once she realized she filled incorrectly. So to my question. Has anyone gotten the sleeve and regretted it thinking they shou…

I ate the triple zero yogurt with fruit for so long that I can't stand the smell of the yogurt by itself anymore. I couldn't eat eggs at breakfast before surgery so I'm terrified to try them now. Unfortunately there isn't much out there that has enough protein that isn't yogurt or eggs! Occasionally I make a chicken salad and I can eat that, but it gets old after a day or two. That’s what I get for not sharing. Thank goodness it doesn’t have chocolate covered fruit or I would’ve cried. But the fruit looks lovely and delicious. Hubby and kids will enjoy. I am wondering how many people need plastic surgery after the gastric sleeve. I am 5’6 and weigh 235, and I am starting the process for gastric sleeve. I am realistic that a little skin sag may be a possibility, but I am worried about drastic skin sag and my insurance not covering any needed surgery. I am 37 years old and my goal weight is 140-150, so I would be looking at around 80 pounds. I’ve lost weight before and never had the loose skin, but I am older now and the weight loss would be much faster. I am also a teacher so plastic surgery will never but in my budget, lol. Has anyone lost a lot of weight and not needed surgery afterwards for skin?
