Hello! My scale died recently and I bought the WW Wi-Fi scale and I hate it. I feel like it bounces around a lot and it doesn’t sync directly with my iPhone health app. I have to connect to the scale every time I use it or my weight isn’t recorded. Do you have a digital scale that you can use an iPhone with that you love? Preferably one that tells you body fat and such? Have you used the Aria? Was it good? Thanks everyone!

Tomorrow will be five weeks post op and tomorrow will also be my husband’s 9th angel day. He was 40 when he passed away. We had just had our third daughter, who was 3 weeks old. It’s the first time I’ve mourned his death with no comfort food, and I believe it’ll be my first weigh in where I haven’t lost a single ounce. I knew that I gained my weight due to my loss and my new found habit of emotional eating, but I guess I didn’t realize how the true emotions must have been masked with food as I seem to be more grief struck than I have been in quite sometime. I seem to be constipated with the increase of protein. I noticed I seem to be grazing higher fat foods the past …

So I am almost 3 weeks postop from gastric sleeve. Tonight at our local touchdown club meeting, there was absolutely nothing I could eat except for some shredded cheese. They had some roast beef and I ate about an ounce of it chewing until it was basically mush. How bad did I screw up? It didn’t hurt going down it didn’t hurt in the stomach but I think I made a foolish decision.....

Hey everybody!!!! I have found recently that my sleeve is not happy with chicken anymore. I thought I was eating too fast or taking too big of a bite because it was kind of painful, but then my sleeve started to outright reject chicken (it was like it was pushing it out). Chicken is a great source of protein and getting all my protein is hard, any suggestions to help me out with this? I can still handle ground turkey and pretty much anything else I just don't want to get stuck with very few choices. I am 6 weeks out and down 30 pounds!!!! I am happy with my sleeve it's just the chicken thing has me concerned.

My surgery is approaching fast (October 2nd). During the day, I am able to stay excited and positive about it but at night my mind starts to wander and I work myself up into an almost panic attack thinking about all the "what ifs?". I'm just looking for some words of encouragement/support or to connect with other people who feel the same.

So last week I had a kidney stone. Worst pain I've ever felt in my life. Much worse than any surgery I've had. Anyway, I know that lack of fluids can be a cause but also too much protein can cause it too. Does anyone know what amount of protein is too much? I know right now I'm not eating enough protein but I'm a little nervous about eating too much protein cause I really don't want any more kidney stones. Eating is a struggle anyway cause I don't get hungry. I make myself eat and I'm still figuring out what I can tolerate. I'm 2 months post of vsg. Thanks!

today has been interesting.... Im 18 days out, on puree stage. had a protein shake with blended fruit. (liquified) then later had a lot of water. then later had cottage cheese, and took my gummy vitamins I take everyday. about 45 min later I had more water and was moving around a lot picking up the house and my stomach felt just full and every time I moved I felt like it was coming up. a couple times it almost came up and still hours later, I can only sip water. not move around a lot. what does it mean? I'm no where near my protein today and don't think I can put anything in.???

So my surgery is scheduled, after 6 months of going through all the pre reqs. Waiting for insurance approval for gastric sleeve. I am terrified. Ive never had any type of surgery before, never broken a bone. I am terrified ill get sick of taking vitamins everyday because someone told me their friend regrets getting it because of all the vitamins. I am terrified ill regret it and i cant take it back. Waiting for insurance approval for November 5th. I guess i have until then to decide. My insurance required me to see a nutritionist 3 times each 4 weeks apart. I lost over 30lbs on my own. Ive lost all the weight 3 times on my own and gotten to my goal weight before i ever co…

I am 4 days post op. Still trying to get the hang of sipping etc. practically speaking how long should I wait between sips to maximize my fluids? I have found that 2 tiny sips in a row works but then I don’t know when to do it again. I want to stay hydrated and establish some normalcy but I need a routine. Any advice is appreciated.

Hello! I'm about 2 months out from my gastric sleeve surgery, and I would love to get some input/advice from those of you who have been down this road before me. What did you find to be the most helpful mental, physical, emotional, and/or dietary changes that you made before your surgery? Would you do anything differently in hindsight? Do you have any regrets about the surgery? Did you lose what you thought that you would? I'm starting to get anxious and would love to hear about your experiences. Thank you in advance

I found a website that offers protein samples and it's been a lifesaver for me so I wanted to share it for anyone who may be searching for a protein powder they like the taste of!! www.vitalady.com offers tons of different samples. I was able to order a bunch of different flavors and brands until I found some I really like without spending a fortune. For me, Syntrax Fuzzy Navel and Vanilla Bean are to die for!! It makes it so much easier to get all my protein in when it tastes good! Just wanted to share.

I JUST FOUND OUT THAT MY INSURANCE IS NOT GOING TO PAY FOR BARIATRIC SURGERY FOR AT LEAST 6 TO 12 MONTHS AS THEY RESEARCH THE COMPLICATION RATE. I WOULD LIKE YOUR FEED BACK ON WHICH OPTION I SHOULD DO. 1. kEEP ON THE MEDICAL SUPERVISED WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM THAT I AM ON (I'M CURRENTLY LOSSING A POUND AWEEK) 2. LOOK AT SELF PAY OPTIONS (MAY NOT BE FINICIALLY FEASIBLE AT THIS TIME) 3. WAIT AND SEE IF INSURANCE WILL COVER IT NEXT YEAR (TURN 65 IN 2020 WITH MEDICARE)

Preparing for surgery, I went on many diets. I did >50% raw fruits and vegetables, my doctor said my potassium levels were high and not to eat ANY fruits or vegetables. Then I was told the bloodwork had a mistake and not to worry about my potassium, but no fruit but vegetables were okay. Then it was a zero carb diet. After surgery, it was the high protein, low crab, sugar free diet we are all familiar with. Deciding to get surgery was a hard decision for me, I have phobias about needles and being cut. Surgery was also very painful because I couldn't take any painkillers after surgery. It's a big deal and I don't want to mess things up. I don't want to do the things tha…

I am generally staying under 1200, But i am suprised to see how fast calories can mount up even eating tiny meals! I have been using the baritastic ap and frequently see calories go up to 1,400-1,800 I'm never 100% sure if I've added the right amount as a lot of foods are either not on the list or brands i haven't heard of or my grams to oz conversation isn't very accurate, I always err on the higher side to compemsate for errors and also i sometimes don't eat all of the amount I've calculated. I went out for dinner the other night and had a macaroni cheese starter as my main course and immediately 750cals on my plate, I AM losing weight slowly so it is coming off but ju…

Hello everyone my name is Christian I'm 38 years old and I reside in Manhattan, New York. I've been overweight all my life but on may 16th of 2018 I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes with no complications, hypertension and high cholesterol, so that day I made a decision to change my life and start loving myself... I quit drinking soda and drinking any type os sugary drinks, instead I drink water.. In fact water is all I drink now and I stopped eating Chinese takeout and eating more homemade healthy meals. I've chosen to VSG surgery because out of all the other types of Bariatric surgeries vsg is the best in my opinion. I haven't started the process yet which I was told w…

So I was sleeved on June 25th of this year. My starting weight was 410. Fast forward to present day and I am now weighing 325 (thank you thank you lol). The fact that I am 2 months and 2 weeks out and down 85lbs already is mind blowing to me. Another 15 and I'm at -100lbs (my math skills are superb today lol). My concern though is, is this normal? I see many post on here and of people who are just months out as well and they haven't lost as much weight as I have (I'm not trying to toot my own horn here). I checked with my surgeon and he said all is well, I checked with my nutritionist and she says my diet is fine, my intake is where it should be and all my lab work looks …

A drug rep stopped by today and brought by some samples of Glucerna Hunger Smart drink. This is new to me. I was reading the nutrition and saw where there is 15g of protein 8g fat 16g carbs 6g sugar 6g fiber In addition to 25-30% of daily allowance of all the needed vitamins, including iron. Noticed that the Labrada shake does not have iron. Anyone drink these? Thoughts?

So...it's been a while since I posted but thought I would share a before and after. I'm down a little over 60 lbs. Feeling great and have even joined my local tennis league which is a sport I loved growing up but had trouble playing when I was over weight. Fyi, the Before picture is from my daughters wedding (I had a heart attack a month later) and the after was just last week after buying a new suit....from the regular section, NOT big and tall! Lol.

this is exactly why I had bariatric surgery. My top weight...377. My top height...5'2. Bad huh?. But did I stay on my diet, no. It wasn't until my doc told me I had pulmonary hypertension, and if I didn't do something, I would need a heart transplant in 5 years. That I heard. You see, I'm 60 years old and am raising my 8 year old grandson. My husband and I have legal custody and that kid needs me to guide him and nurture him to manhood. And there is no way I am having a heart transplant. Started my journey last August when I attended the introductory group. Finally had surgery April 20, and at last weigh in I had lost 61 pounds. The scale hasn't budged for 2 weeks now, …

I am so glad I found this forum and took people’s advice. I was scared, anxious, sad, confused before and after surgery but I already knew I was going to feel that way. Lol ? Best advice... 1)stay on top of pain med routines. DO NOT WAIT!!! 2) I made sure to ask for anti nausea meds prior to surgery and after. Has saved my life!!! 3) walking is going to alleviate all the built up gas...so get that ass up and walk lol ? 4)forcing myself to stay on schedule with hydration. Whether it’s water, popsicle, juice, protein water, soup. Honestly, it has helped me a whole lot. 5) my support system. It’s been an emotional rollercoaster but having family and friends that a…

At this time last year, I was dressed in my preop gown and socks waiting to be wheeled into the room to start my new adventures. It’s crazy that it was exactly a year ago. Boy. It’s been a joy, and rough, and wonderful, and frustrating and so many things. I have been a super super slow loser. I started at 268 and have lost a total of 63 pounds in a year and I have worked SOOOO hard for every single last one of those pounds. I’m only 5’3”, so I still have a LONG way to go. I won’t lie, I started into this thinking hey...this will easy peasy. How could it not? I have no stomach and won’t be hungry. It’s not. Sure at first, you may drop pounds pretty quickly, bu…

Hey all, I’m now 2.5 months out from Surgery. Recovery was straight forward. But last night I woke up with the most intense pain in my stomach. It felt like a 400lb sumo wrestler was sitting on my abdomen. It literally took my breath away. I got up and was gasping for breath, it eventually subsided after about 30 minutes. I’m far enough out I thought I wouldn’t have anything like this. Does anyone have any thoughts on what this could have been?

Headed to first home game of the year for my Ole Miss Rebels but feeling concerned about what I can eat from the concession stand during game. Or try to sneak in something? Thoughts? I was sleeved on 7/27 and have zero regrets about the surgery. However, I have to admit I have already fallen off the band wagon a few times with my choice of foods-already. I know I can do this and have been rooting myself on even through the tough times, but I have myself wondering if I haven't already ruined my tool. Is anyone familiar with VSG enough to know if you can actually "stretch" it? I know that it naturally will stretch, never to the size it was, but over time it will stretch normally. However, my question is more for the --- I have made bad food choices, is it ruined --- category. I just wanted to see what others say out there, hopefully without the "you hav…

Hi I just joined today after just getting the approval from my insurance company for gastric sleeve surgery! Woohoo! Hi everyone! I am 3 weeks post op (August 15) and doing pretty well - however, sleeping has been a challenge since the surgery. At first, it was because of the pain, but that has subsided and now I lay awake for hours at night. Napping has been tough and even when I do fall asleep, the quality isn’t amazing. Pre-surgery I could have fallen asleep standing up, so this is a totally new issue for me. Has anyone else had this problem post sleeve? (Please tell me it goes away, I’ve tried all the remedies I can think of. Wahhhh!)

Hey All! I just signed up today after viewing the topics for about a week. I just had my sleeve surgery Tuesday (9/4). I have had several surgeries in the past (C sections, gallbladder, hysterectomy...) so the pain and recovery is expected. I am just surprised at the difficultly I’m having with trying to drink liquids. But I am looking forward to the journey ahead.

I’m self-pay, so no issues with insurance due to weight gain, thankfully. It is the time of year, every year, when I start to eat uncontrollably and gain weight. I have SAD, and It happens EVERY year between late August and late September as the days start to get shorter. I’m already up 5#, and I Can’t Stop Eating. My surgery is September 24, and I’m just so irritated, even though this is Just what I do this time of year. Anyone else have this problem?

I had my surgery on August 1, 2018. I'm trying different solid foods as per doctors instructions. I'm only able to eat one ounce of protein for a meal, then I'm too full to eat any vegetables. I drink my 50 to 60 grams of protein in my shakes everyday. Does anyone know how many small meals a day I should eat at this point. Right now i'm eating 3 meals and if I have a snack it's an ounce of nuts.

I'm wondering how often everyone is weighing them selves? I waited a week to look (this morning) after my surgery. I found the number exciting, but I know it wont always be this substantial. . . Does getting on the scale daily/weekly/ect get anyone down? Or do you find it motivating? Is there a sweet spot frequency wise?
