Is it possible? Everything says that they prefer to repair post WLS (do to possible infection from surgical mesh).

Been there & was told it would be better to lose 100 pounds as I had my gallbladder removed years ago which is the cause of two hernia repairs at the incision site. I never want this surgery again! It was far more painful than my sleeve which compared to hernia surgery was a walk in the park. So soon I will be having my 3rd hernia repair as a result of gallbladder surgery & mesh trimmed to fit which was obviously trimmed a bit to much!

Thanks for the info, clarification : were you Able to have the VGS BEFORE. The hernia repair? I am so afraid that it can't be done.....

VSG is normally done before an abdominal hernia, as the hernia is easier safer and superiorly repaired after the weight loss

That's good to know.......the medical staff has indicated they can repair the hiatal hernia during bariatric surgery, but nothing was mentioned about the abdominal one. I hope to be able to get a tummy tuck once my weight has stabilized, I've heard they can combine it with a hernia repair. My only issue with waiting is it's uncomfortable to even try situps, it doesn't feel right!

A lot of surgeons will bill for hernia repairs and do the others. Sad, but with the sneaky-type insurances we have in USA , one has to beat them at their own game!???
