Bruising like crazy!

Recommended Posts

Hi! I’m almost 12 week’s post op and I’m feeling great. I am, however, covered in bruises. Is this a side effect of the surgery? Thanks for any input.

Ps: yes I’ll ask my doctor at my next appt.

I think I read somewhere that is a Vitamin C issue.... but cannot remember where it was that I saw this.

I am 4 weeks post and my lower belly has been bruised from week 1. When I had my post op I was told it was likely the injection site for the blood thinner. It's slowly clearing up, but bruising is about 5 inches in length and 2-3 inches wide

I had a lot of bruising from the Luvox injections. They did take weeks to go away.

I am very fair skinned and I actually have marks from bruises from my shots still at almost 4 months out. I also still have a hematoma in my tummy from one that is slowly shrinking. I would ask but like someone mentioned it might be a Vitamin deficiency. I have times when I bruise a lot and they told me before that it was a deficiency but that was before surgery. After we are all wacky with our Vitamins. Good luck and I'm sure it's something simple like that.

IF it's just in the tummy area, I wouldn't worry. I had some really impressive bruises while I was healing; fortunately they didn't hurt! If the bruises are all over the place, on your arms, legs, etc, call the doctor. (I wish I could find the picture of my belly-bruise. It covered about half of my lower/side belly!)

Mr bruising didn't start until 4 days afterward, spread across my abdomen,, looked like I was carrying an alien baby, after another feel,it is fading still, doesn't look quite human, I was an RnY. My current skin is so dry and itchy, feel, like it aged to,leather, from, normal, what have I done wrong? Urinating frequently,so,i,must be getting my fluids in okay? Now 13 days after.

I don’t know if you’re talking about a specific area but I bruise like mad everywhere 😂. I have bruises on my arms and legs and it’s ridiculous. I did tend to bruise easier pre-surgery and post-surgery, it’s even worse. I was told it’s normal to bruise more post-surgery so I’m just keeping an eye on them.

Well it could be Vitamin C lack, it could be your platelets out of balance, as long as your doctor is keeping watch,on it , it probably is a self-limiting condition.Don't even want to think of the bad things it can be, don't look for zebras in a common pony herd.

Just as a fun fact I’m 10 months post op next week and I bruise so much easier 🤷🏼‍♀️ My doc just does blood work every check in and it’s always been normal. Just a new fun thing for me I guess. But at 12 weeks out you probably won’t know that for sure yet 😂

Thanks for all of your responses! They bruises are not on my abdomen. Just arms and legs. They don’t hurt and I’m not too worried. I have to get blood work done this week anyway so I’ll be sure to tell my doc!

Hi Dfox1984, I wondered if you had any update on your bruising? I ask because I was sleeved 7/11/18 and have been noticing quite a few bruises on my upper arms. I tend to bruise easily and did before but even more so now. I follow up next month with my Dr. and will ask of course but wanted to check in with you or others as well.

Nothing came back on my blood work. Just fair skin and maybe being too physical in the yard/house work lol

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
