Should I cut my hair? (Hair Loss)

So I've had thick hair all my life, and it's been long for almost 2 years now with just trims here and there.

I'm starting to notice now though, for the past two weeks or so, that my hair is falling out very rapidly. I knew it was a side effect, though I can't help but panic a little bit about it. Every time I shower a big clump comes out in the shower, and then when I brush my hair it fills my hairbrush about halfway of more hair.

I was thinking maybe if I got my hair cut short, it will help since it wont need to be brushed as much, and it might look better when it starts regrowing? Was wondering who all else has went through hair loss and if they got it cut or just waited it out. Also those who have went through hair loss- does it regrow and how long did yours take before the hair loss finally stopped? Surgery date was 5/9 here, down 38 pounds from surgery, 62 from the start, 73 from my highest!

Hair loss from surgery is usually everyone's issue, and it sucks. Rogaine will not prevent that. Rogaine may speed up the phases from resting to growing that happens every 3 months but not prevent the

  • My hair curly after wls, and now using a flat iron

  • Maybe I'll have baby curls again, I was born with them, my late Mama said I was adorable but maybe SHE was biased a little.

I am chopping my hair off tomorrow. I haven’t had short hair in 20 years I will probably cry!
You don't have to chop it yourself, have your chair syled by a professional, they can work with what you have and make it not look raggedy. You are somebody, pamper yourself a little. You can grow it back out later if you want, okay?

Thank you for the compliments everyone! I'm very happy I did it.

Krista27- good luck! Only do it if you are sure though- I will say that it feels so liberating to have it off now :)

So @ AstroCat, do you feel a little light- headed? Your old hair had to Weigh a fair amount, but this will be easy to take care of for a while.???
@AstroCat I got it cut and I love it! 12 inches gone.

Guys thete is a great remedy out there which is the albuterol medication that is put on the asthma nebulizer machine. I no of testimonies that shows that it helps after bariatric surgery

Your short hair is adorable!
I kinda figured all along you would end up cute, you can always grow it back out when your, hair thickens again if you want.
@ Palomabella are you saying the albuterol sulfate in my nebulizer will help thicken my hair? Wow I hope you're right -'it's thin naturally.Anything that will help!

This helps with hair loss??

I’m suffering hair loss however stated taking silica tablets. It’s not falling out as much as it did prior. I still am getting fall outs but nowhere near as much. I take one tablet daily.

@AstroCat you are a cutie patootie with that haircut!!!

I keep thinking I need to cut mine more since all those baby hairs look like duck fuzz now.

Oh gosh! I love your new haircut!

Sadly. I lost so slowly but still lost probably 75% of my hair. I never lost 2 digits lbs in one month ever. By 6 months out it was pretty obvious. By 7 months, I started going in weekly for vitamin if infusions. My hair was straggly and chemo-like.

‘SO HERE IS WHAT I DID. I GOT EXTENSIONS! I still have them one year out. My hair is long and great but it ain’t mine. Lol. Enjoying them. At this point, 13 mos out, my own hair has all grown back but is about 1-w inches long. Fluffy and yuck, but I still have the extensions and I will keep them for the next 6 months until my hair grows to a decent length.
