Hi there, I'm very new to all of this. I am 5'6 223. I have been cleared for surgery . It is scheduled. I am terrified. I started my preop diet early but actually on the 29th supposed to start. I live in Washington state and having my surgery done outpatient at Eviva. I am not on hormones and have had a complete hysterectomy years ago. With that being said is anyone have the same situation. I have pre open nutrition tomorrow, prop with the surgeon also this week. I am such a nervous wreck I just want to cancel everything. My insurance is covering it 100%. I have been looking instead to do the ESG. I am just so scared of all of it. Anything anyone wants to share would be …

  4. I'm in my 50s. I've been obese for 30 years. I have many comorbitities. I've been losing weight since September 2025 through swimming and water aerobics, eating well, drinking lots of water, using Zepbound, and using my CPAP. I am paying almost $500/month for my Zepbound and I can do that long-term, so I am getting bariatric sleeve surgery on August 3rd. My insurance won't pay for my Zepbound, but they will pay for my surgery. 🤔😐🤨 I already feel much better since September. My highest weight was 308. I currently weigh 223. My goal weight is 120. I'm 5 feet 2 inches tall. I've decided to not be embarrassed, ashamed, or shy about my health journey with anyone who makes comm…

  5. Wow, honeymoon over I will be two years postop sleeve in April and I dreaded this day the day where the hunger Demon 😈 would come back... obesity is the cruelest disease of all and wouldn't wish this disease on my worst enemy. If I had a camera in my kitchen, it would be sad as many times as I went and opened the fridge and my cabinets .....I could not find or satiate my hunger, so I'll have to onboard my GLP1 soon. I've been off of my GLP1 one for two years, but I have to start back on it next week because that's the issue with the disease of obesity, It's a complex disease lthe type of hunger that us who deal with obesity has is not a normal hunger sometimes it's a hung…

I am on day 8 of my 2 week preop diet, surgery is Saturday. This diet is seriously kicking my ass. I read posts where people are saying it gets better after 3 days.....lies, I tell ya! Lol It is just as bad as day 1 but now I am tired asf, no stamina. I climb stairs at work all night and my quads are singing Stand by me, every step. I am going to do it because I do not want any complications during the surgery. But my diet seems alot stricter then most these people. I started this at 330 pounds, 6ft. I eat 8 Oz a lean protein a day and 3 protein shakes. Unlimited starch less veggies. But really folks, who wants that sh1t?? If we wanted to snack on veggies we would…

I’m 17 days post-op gastric sleeve and trying purée foods. But despite blending completely smooth in a nitrablender and thinning them a bit they keep coming back up. I’m only trying 1 or 2tsp at a time. Even the shakes try coming up and when it does it’s kinda chunky curdled like baby spit up. I have no nausea, pain, heart burn or fullness. Pills are going through and clear liquids. Is this normal? I’ve tried puréed canned meats in broth, humus, and soft scrambled eggs. I see people eating all these dips, ricotta bakes, and such. Am I doing it wrong?

Good Day All: I was wondering if anyone else is having the same issues that I am, ( I had a gastric sleeve a couple of years ago-previously had a gastric band that eroded into my stomach and it had to be removed. ). I have been having dumping syndrome on a regular basis. it is especially bad after eating breakfast. I have tried to eat a small breakfast-scrambled egg or keto toast, even oatmeal. Still most days I spend my morning in the bathroom. I am terrified to go anywhere. My doctor put me on a heartburn medication twice daily. This ended the acid reflux and slowed down the dumping a little. Now, I am living on Imodium in the morning about 4 to 5 days a week.…

Improvements in comorbidities like diabetes or sleep apnea? Regrets? Complications? Tips? Outside of carbonated beverages anything you can't eat or tolerate now? What's life like for you now? 14. Hey y'all, Haven't posted in a while but I need some insight from the community. I was sleeved December 2020, took RX strength omeprazole for 90 days post op since that was what my surgeon did., had zero issues with heartburn incidences. However, heartburn runs in my family---in the males, I didn't have issues beyond maybe once in a frozen blue moon I MIGHT have a mild case that 2 Tums fixed before surgery. Fast forward a couple of years-heartburn incidences starts getting worse/becoming more numerous, would get up choking on acid if I laid down to soon after eating and everything seemed to cause it. Water, protein shakes, sugar/no sugar, etc it's just stupid. I…

  15. So my partner and I like to get rough and really enjoy oral sex and he particularly likes deepthroating. While I have pretty good control of my gag reflex, is gagging or the contractions of the stomach/abdomen okay at some point or at all after gastric sleeve or is this something we have to back off on?

For the last 2 weeks, I've really been craving sweets, most specifically chocolate, I seem to be ok during the day, when I just remind myself that I'm doing what I'm doing for me, but at night, the cravings COME FULL FORCE Depending on the hour, I may do a protein bar or drink, thinking that maybe any sweet flavor will satisfy me, but no, it doesn't fill the void I had worked out with my nutritionist, that a piece of candy once a a week was ok, and I was doing ok with it, something to look forward to, but honestly, I'm scared to eat a piece of candy right now I'm afraid that if I taste what I'm craving, I may loose a bit of control, how would you deal with this?

  18. Hi all, I’m new here so please excuse if I’m not using this right. I’m day 5 after the sleeve. Is it normal to be itchy and bright red on the abdomen? Is it normal that I was able to eat a full yogurt today for lunch? Whoever I spoke to said they couldn’t even finish a half yogurt. Same thing with drinking water, I can drink 4 ounces in 3 min. Looking for clarity! Thanks in advance!

Please help me understand an episode I had on Saturday So my brother's birthday was on Thursday, and on Saturday we went out to to Dave and Busters to celebrate, since we were a small crowd we reserved a room and did the platters for food I stuck with bone-in chicken wings and water, only allowing myself 4 chips with guacamole dip The day was going great, we were going back and forth to play and mingle, the issue was about and hour in, IDK what happened, I was only eating chicken wings and then all of a sudden I started stuffing my mouth and taking swigs of soda at the same time, my body started protested, my nose started running and I started hiccupping (my signs to sto…

I am really at a loss as to why this stall is lasting so long. week 1 and 2 post op I lost 5.7lbs each week now I dont know how to get unstuck.

Kind of a funny bone to pick, but how much weight had you lost before you started feeling cold? Per people who have had the surgery, some said that after loosing around 40-50lbs they started feeling cold, saying they would use light covering even in summer I was like "hell yeah!" because I have always run hot, even in winter, I don't need use sweaters/coats unless the temperature reaches the 40s, I was so looking forward to feeling cooler I'm down 80+lbs and I still feel hot, my office as the temp set at 71 degrees, and the 2 people who I share the office space with are all saying how cold they are while wrapped in a blanket, and yet you have me here with a desk fan becau…

I was told to start adding purees on day 14 starting with 1-2T three times per day as tolerated. Over the following 2-weeks I was to gradually increase up to 4T three times per day. Throughout, continuing with protein shake to ensure adequate protein intake. I'm supposed to get at least 60g protein per day and at least 64oz water. All purees are supposed to be protein-centric, avoiding carbs. I've followed everything to the T, and like I said, haven't lost any weight in 9-days. As a matter of fact, I gained a pound today. Hello, I can’t find what I was reading, but I remember someone mentioning stool softeners or Benefiber to help with recovery after surgery. Is this something you should start taking before the surgery? My operation is on Friday, and all the information I've come across is flooding back to me at 3 a.m., and this is the latest thought on my mind.

  28. Have any of you dealt with a hiatal hernia AFTER getting sleeved? What ended up happening? I am currently dealing with this. I haven’t yet found out what my surgeon wants to do, but I am afraid that I will be told the only option is to convert to RNY, and I absolutely do not want that. Have any of you had luck with simply repairing the hernia and keeping the sleeve instead of converting to RNY? Do any of you have suggestions on doctors who may be experienced at dealing with this problem? i appreciate any advice since it is hard to find info on this problem. I had my vgs on September 23, 2013. I must say that it does get better. I have lost and gain and lost and gain weight but overall I have maintained 100 lbs weight lost over the years. I have been a victim of body dysmorphia and I have beaten myself about it over the years. My advice is to give yourself grace and be patient with yourself. Most of all love your self and your body. Find what works for you. I have learned that discipline is best. I don’t drink sodas or carbonated drinks. I don’t eat candy and I only treat my self to treats every once in a while. I also learned to fast. Eating between 2pm and 9pm works best for me. Ensure that I intake mostly protein and find…

Hello, I am exactly 2 weeks post op from sleeve surgery. I'm thankful that I've had a great recovery so far with almost no issues, except the mental ones. As the days go by, I'm beginning to feel myself feeling more and more paranoid and anxious. Paranoid that I did all this and NOTHING is going to happen, even though I'm already losing weight. As if it's too good to be true, and any day now, like always with diets I've done, the weight that I'm losing will just come flooding back. Paranoid that my recovery has been great...... suspiciously too great, and that I'll suddenly get some kind of infection and drop dead. That last one is a fear I've had because YEEEARS ago, a …

Did anyone have issues with getting protein shakes in? I swear I can’t get in more than a couple small sips before it foams up in my stomach and causes distress. I can do the clear proteins fine in fact I’m loving my clear protein. I get two tablespoons of a ‘warm up food’ per day and I don’t have issues with it at all. I have many different brands and so far they all been not so great. I’m managing to get one in per day because it takes me so long to drink it.

I’m almost 8 years post GBS and have struggled with transfer addictions since. Alcohol was the easiest because it’s readily available and can be inexpensive (depending on how desperate I was). While trying to stop that addiction, I transferred it to using Kratom. That is not as readily available and has been immensely expensive. But as we know, when you’re addicted, you find a way. I’ve been able to kick alcohol and don’t have any desire to drink now, and I’ve seen my doctor and started a Suboxone treatment to help with the Kratom addiction. I’m still struggling though. I’ve had different therapists throughout these years, but none of them go deep enough to get to the roo…

So my bariatric doctor is trying to convince me to get the sleeve instead of the Bypass, which I thought would be better for me being that I have GERD & a hiatal hernia. He says he can fix my hiatal hernia and after he fixes it, I would be fine and won’t develop another hernia. Now I’m confused and not sure which surgery would be the best for me. Has anyone who’s had the sleeve ever developed a second hiatal hernia after it was originally fixed during a sleeve surgery?.

  37. I had my surgery in October of 2021 and lost 60-65 pounds. At about the 2 year mark my doctor wanted me to lose another 20-25 pounds and suggested a weight loss drug. I was unsure about it and took a year before I said OK, I'm interested. At that point I was told my my BMI was 37 (Morbidly Obese) and was too low. They couldn't prescribe unless I was up to a BMI of 43. Since then I have gained 20-25 pounds back. They keep setting me up with nutricianists, but that is not the problem. I know the right things to eat. It is the in between eating that is killing me...more of the habit stuff. I can't eat a full meal without feeling sick, but I can snack on **** all day. Anyone …

Gained some weight back while working nights, I was almost back to 300lbs and this was around 2021. Decided to start eating bariatric foods and lost 50lbs but then hit a plateau. Went back to my surgeon who was extremely surprised to see me and told me about the weightloss shots, was prescribed them immediately and lost another 50 to 60lbs. I was finally down to 190lbs. I started my journey in late July and was planning on surgery over my Christmas Break ( I'm a teacher). Due to a rare side effect from medication I had tendonitis in 3 areas and could barely walk. My NUT told me last month that she thinks I'll be cleared for surgery mid to end February depending on PT progress. I was getting super excited and even more motivated. Then I looked at the calendar and realized that surgery would probably be in mid to late March. I hate to use 10-15 sick days this close to summer break when I don't have a lot built up. What would you do? I'm also freaked at the possibility of switching insurance carriers March 1, but that's a different story!

I then decided in Nov 2022 to get my weight back under control as I had put on a couple of stone and part of this new decision was to take alcohol out of my life. Thi…

Do ice packs help at all? 3.) How do you handle the hangry or irritability from cutting out things or food cravings? 4.) How long was it before you were able to go back to the gym? 5.) Any advice or things to keep in mind for the surgery or after? I know that was a lot, but I just want to ask these questions beforehand so that I can be as prepared as possible and settle my nerves a bit. Thank you!

My weight had been a problem my whole life, with 50 lb. swings at times. I was 55 years old when I learned about the sleeve surgery and made the plunge.
