Really craving sweets again

For the last 2 weeks, I've really been craving sweets, most specifically chocolate, I seem to be ok during the day, when I just remind myself that I'm doing what I'm doing for me, but at night, the cravings COME FULL FORCE

Depending on the hour, I may do a protein bar or drink, thinking that maybe any sweet flavor will satisfy me, but no, it doesn't fill the void

I had worked out with my nutritionist, that a piece of candy once a a week was ok, and I was doing ok with it, something to look forward to, but honestly, I'm scared to eat a piece of candy right now

I'm afraid that if I taste what I'm craving, I may loose a bit of control, how would you deal with this?

I believe a little bit of dark chocolate in the diet is healthy - it may help combat sweet cravings... I try to reach for fresh fruit first though. Normally that satisfies - especially banana slices with a little fresh peanut butter. Or crisp apple chunks with a little cheddar cheese. I love sweets, too, AND have to control ordering desserts when out... It can escalate BUT you got this. You are in control to seek alternatives that satisfy that sweet tooth.

Thank you, I had an appointment with my dietitian today, she gave me a few options on how to curb the craving, but she also aid that maybe I should give in if it gets too hard, not eat a whole bag mind you, but she said if you can, get a small bar, break it in half and throw out one half immediately, she did say it's probably not the best advice but sometimes we have to honor those cravings,

I think I'll see if dark chocolate can help first before I honor the milk chocolate craving

BTW, you look amazing in your photo.

I have eaten chocolate every day s since the first day I could eat solid foods after surgery almost two years ago! when I say every day, I mean every day! the thing that I do is, I make dupes of everything that I like from scratch so if you like a Snickers bar you can make your own Snickers bars from scratch just get the silicone molds from Temu or Amazon. My big thing was Reese's pieces buttercup. I make my own Reese's pieces and I eat about four of of them per day. 😂😂😂. Sweets was a non negotiable for me!

Oh ladies, there has never been a dessert I've met - I didn't like! I think your dietician and surgeon are wise and spot on. A VERY occasional few bites of a favorite dessert will not sabotage... Unless - there are a few so susceptible that it can spur a downward spiral. I had to combat that scenario and regain restraint after introducing unnatural/processed or baked sweets three years out. Mr. Sophie is our resident baker with party desserts to die for! BUT I have learned to share or take a few bites - then give or throw away the rest - so not to be amidst constant temptation. For myself, best to reach out for a fruit that possesses a balance of natural sugar and fiber. Cautionary tale: My former self having indulged in too many desserts and rich foods before sleeve. NEVER wish to return to that place or vicious cycle again.

Cravings can definitely come back, especially during weight loss or post-surgery phases. What helped me was prioritizing protein and balanced meals, which really reduced sweet cravings over time. Sometimes a protein-based sweet option, like Built Bar, can satisfy that craving without throwing everything off. Staying hydrated and consistent makes a big difference too—you’re definitely not alone in this.
