    I think I had a breakthrough
A few weeks ago, I had a very shitty night at my 2nd job, I was running late, machines where breaking down, at one point, my whole system crashed and I had to do my lab work manually, all in all, I was very frustrated when I finally got off around 11:30pm
In my frustration I was like "Damn, I need a pick me up, I should stop by for a chicken sandwich and fries, I've eared it with the day I've been having, screw if it's past 9pm and I shouldn't eat this late"
but then my own brain asked me a question: "That is what the old you would do, what is the new you going to do?"
and I actually answered myself "The new me will take a deep breath and go home"
And that's what I did, I got home around midnight, drank about half a bottle of my protein drink, took a shower and went to bed

I'm only sharing this, because ever since then, when I feel like I want to eat because of frustration, anger, boredom, I just ask myself, "What is the new you going to do?" and somehow that is enough to pull me from my funk and make my health a priority again.

Bambi - Your body has experienced a major change in weight also adjusting to a new way of eating for the better. It's normal if you are staying compliant for things to shift up and down a bit. You will balance out in time. Try to go back to our threads in 2019 - 2021... I think you will find them helpful and encouraging. Cheering you on! YAY! BTW, why not go under 200 - say 195? It may feel even more rewarding in a new decade... the 90's😃!

Today is my 1 year anniversary of my surgery, time really did fly
I was over 300lbs when I started and now, I'm so close to "one"derland, something I never thought was possible anymore
I know my journey is far from over, the real work starts now.

Just like Nervy, I also was really nervous about if I was making the right decision for myself, I had actually considered surgery 4 years ago but backed out about halfway. Once my health was in danger is when I had to considered it again. The days leading up to the surgery were so nerve wrecking that I was almost ready to throw in the towel again, but now but now a year out, I'm glad I took the leap.

I won't say that it's easy, some days, you will miss being able to eat your favorite foods without any restrictions, but it helped that I had a great support team in my family, my mom prepped so much broth for me, and my brother became my gym buddy so that I wouldn't feel embarrassed to go on my own. I had to create and recreate a schedule to eat, drink and take my vitamins, to fit my lifestyle, but once I got it down, it almost feels second nature.
    Good luck, you got this!

@Bambi150 Thank you for sharing your story! I am definitely going through with it no matter what my nerves say because my back needs a break. I am praying that once I get this going hopefully my everyday living in chronic pain will ease some. With Fibromalgia, Spinal stenosis and degenerative joint every pound lost will count. My outlook on how bright my future looks with this surgery is what is going to pull me to the finish line. And all my glory goes to God. I will absolutely be ok. Many blessings for you in your continued journey!! 🫶

It sucks, I know, but it will get better, I ended up getting a brush for weak hair to help a little, I got the detangling UNbrush and a boar bristle brush, and while my hair was still coming out, it wasn't as much as with my regular brush. All hair types are different so I suggest researching the best type of brush for your hair type and going from there, good luck!

For me, I ended up getting human sacrifices lol
When I would have cravings, for lets say some chips, I would ask a coworker or friends "Hey I want some Hot Cheetos , if I buy a bag, would you eat the rest for me?" of course most people won't turn down free food, so I would buy my bag of chips, eat about 5 or 6 pieces and them immediately give up the bag for them to finish off for me
This works for me because sometimes I just want a taste of something, and this is the best way I found where I can get my craving satisfied without breaking my diet. So it's a running joke at my job that I have human sacrifices 😅

It is very normal. I promise it does grow back in! Just keep up with your vitamins but be prepared for it to happen throughout your weight loss journey.

We dont change our mind set just because we had this surgery, the girl wants what she wants after all.
I keep myself in check with a daily diet diary. I stick rigidly most of the time to my protein goal. I still have 5 small meals a day.
I dont buy icecream unless its a special occasion. I buy better for me snacks, so nuts, dates, plenty of fruit, some good cheese. If I crave chocolate I buy small dark chocolate bars because if I bought a large bar I would still eat the lot in one go and know it will make me vomit. I buy low calorie ice lollies and low calorie snacks in small bags. Our super markets sell lots of variety under 100 calories.
I get by. I am skinny. I walk in a better place but some days its damn hard.
Find your middle ground. I hope its not a battlefield.

UPDATE: I think I finally figured out what happened, I know it's was months ago, and I should have moved on already but I don't like to leave things unresolved
Since surgery, when ever I eat, I always use a knife and fork now, to help keep all my bites small and to allow myself time between bites
On the day of the incident, I did eat my chicken wings with a knife and fork, all good there, but the 2nd time around, I used my hands to pick up the wing, I'm pretty sure that's what did it, my body was so used to just use my hands to eat and drink at the same time that my old habit came back around
I know that mulling over this for months probably wasn't the best use of my time, but now that I have an answer, I can finally put this event to rest and move on with my life.

    Hi everyone,
I’m a single mom of two, and I’m finally taking the step to get weight loss surgery. To be honest, I’ve felt a bit embarrassed to post this, but my starting weight is over 400 lbs. I know I need a tool to help me change my life, not just for me, but for my kids.
My "why" is pretty simple: I want to be the mom they deserve. Right now, it’s hard to keep up with them. I want to be able to get out on the basketball court and actually play with them, instead of just watching from the sidelines. I want to be able to cheer for them (and my Boston teams!) without feeling exhausted and in pain.
Being a single parent is a lot of work, and I know the recovery and the lifestyle change will be a challenge, but I’m doing this so I can be around for a long time to see my kids grow up.
I’m currently pre-op and feeling a mix of nerves and hope. If there are any other single parents or "heavy hitters" who started over 400 lbs, I’d love to hear your story. It’s a little scary, but I’m ready.

This journey has been wild in the best way.
I started this journey at 297 lbs.
    1 year post-op: 165 lbs
    2 years post-op: 175 lbs (with a breast augmentation)
I had my VSG on 1/24/24, the day after I turned 35. At that point, I wasn’t happy with how I looked or how I felt. I was exhausted, uncomfortable in my body, and honestly… I wasn’t showing up as the best version of myself. My kids and husband weren’t getting the best version of me… and honestly, neither was I.
So I chose to do the work. VSG has been an incredible tool. I consistently work out 5–6 days a week, combining cardio and weight training. I eat fairly well, with treats here and there… because we’re human and food is delicious! I have energy for days. My kids and husband get the best version of me, and for the first time, so do I. I’m stronger, healthier, more confident, and deeply grateful for how far I’ve come.
    Along this journey, I learned:
    • Discipline over motivation
    • Progress over perfection
    • Self-respect over self-neglect
I decided to choose to show up every single day not only for myself but for my family!
