  1. Today (January 16th) is my birthday. ? This year I opted out of the birthday dinner’s I’m usually taken to by friends and family. I am 40 days post op and while I am now in the “eat whatever I can phase” ofc I’m following the low carb / high protein / no sugar diet I’m advised to follow by my bariatric nutritionist. So for my birthday this year, I didn’t want to go to a restaurant knowing I can’t eat too much food right now + I didn’t want to be tempted by restaurant foods. But I did want to know if anyone else had surgery close to their birthday like me and if so, did you allow yourself a birthday treat? Like a cupcake ?? I haven’t had sugar (ot…

I was wondering how many people experience headaches after eating. It does not seem to matter what I eat and does not seem to be linked to overeating. I am 4 years out from surgery and have lost 105lbs. Shortly after I start eating, I get a frontal headache, and it lasts for at least a 1/2 hour sometimes longer after eating. Anyone else finding this problem.

Just venting LOL I am realizing that I am a creature of habit. I had my breast augmentation 12/30 and it was an involved surgery which I need to rest and not exercise. It’s killing me. I feel lazy, I’m eating stuff I shouldn’t because I’m home all day, I’m out of my routine, I can’t cook for myself and much as my hubby tries it feels like I’m eating at restaurants where I can’t track my food. I feel so blah! I’m tired and lethargic. I’m committed to get back on track tomorrow and told my hubby that I need to get better and stricter since I can’t workout. I cannot wait to get back to the gym to do some cardio at the least. ?‍?

I had my sleeve procedure on Jan. 21st, I feel as if I have conquered some areas - cruising along through gas pain, learning how to eat/drink, and my vitamins!!! BUT I notice I have high anxiety regarding my protein intake, my exercise, food variety and my weight loss and feeling hungry an hour or so after meals as well as some constipation/diarrhea. I stress about not getting enough protein when it seems like I am getting enough in protein shakes (at least 2 shakes w/ 25 or 30 grams) and food (20g w/ yogurt), right now I'm only walking but very slow paced with upper body, and now on phase 3 that's leaving me clueless on getting again enough protein and variety where I …

  7. Hi guys, hope everyone is having a good weekend so far. I am on day 2 of my pre surgery diet, and I'll be going under the knife next month on the 14th. I have my Walmart cart locked and loaded, have supplements on the way plus little 2 oz and 4 oz plastic cups to measure out my portions. I know besides following the diet and trying my best to prepare, should be making things easier. And it is taking the stress of the details away. I feel like there's nothing that's ultimately prepare me for waking up without a part of me. I know it's still gonna be there, but altered and my biggest fear is I'm going through all of this for nothing. Like I'm gonna fail in the long run (pro…

Hi everyone! I have my surgery date scheduled for the 16th of March 2024. Due to a high BMI of 61 I have to do 4 weeks of the liver shrinkage diet. I started on Friday the 16th and I'm really struggling. I'm on total meal replacement shakes x 3 daily with just sugar free squash and water to drink alongside these. My total intake per day is 800 calories or less. How did you guys do it? I know I HAVE to do it, but it's so hard. I cry daily because I'm hungry and I want food. My stomach constantly growls, my stomach hurts and the shakes never feel like they satisfy any of that hunger. My partner is so supportive, he eats away from me and hides food so I don't feel …

I’m six months postop gastric sleeve and have lost 29.2 lbs post op. I have been stalled or going up and down 6 lbs for the last 4 months. I have been eating 1137 cals 80g Protein a day on average. I work out three days a week cardio and weight lifting. I’m so so sad that I’ve not been losing weight as I have dreams and goals of losing 80 more pounds to be a normal BMI. Has anyone gone through this and made it out on the other side? I asked my practitioner to please help me by prescribing me Zepbound which helped me lose before my surgery. I really need the metabolic support, but she will not until I’m a year post op. Hi guys, My surgery is tomorrow morning. I'm really excited but I'm so nervous. I'm almost panicking. I know I'm making the right choice but I have never had surgery before, so I"m really nervous about what's going to happen. You know I'm worried something is going to go wrong at the last minute or while I'm in the hospital. Is this normal? Has anyone else felt this way before surgery?

Hi, I'm new here. Let me give you a bit of my history. I'm 43, weigh 290 pounds, and have diabetes. On November 24, I experienced stabbing pain on the right side below my rib cage. I went to the ER, where the doctor gave me pain medication and an ultrasound, which revealed gallbladder stones. He scheduled a visit with a surgeon for mid-December. I had another gallbladder attack before the appointment, but luckily, apple cider vinegar (ACV) and Aleve helped relieve the pain. On the appointment day, the surgeon suggested I consider getting sleeve gastrectomy along with gallbladder removal. I was shocked to hear that and, in a panic, declined the VSG. However, after res…

And I feel so alone here since there is no one that I know, who had the surgery and when I talk about it usually there is a judgement (not directly but you can feel it) because people here are usually very fit and sporty. I have been searching for a community here so I could bond with people like me but couldn’t find anything so far. I thought maybe here I could find some people like me. Is there anyone here living in Berlin and would like to get together from time to time, have some coffee or do some activity t…

Hi, everyone. I had my gastric sleeve done four days ago and am amazed at how wonderful I feel. I never needed post-op pain meds, though I adhered to the advice to take it on schedule that first day afterward. Aside from some low bowel motility issues, I can honestly say I am having no difficulty at all. No nausea, no pain. I'm getting 4 oz per feeding (5/day), and working up to all my needed snacks in between, as I just have no hunger and have to remind myself. That's putting me up to between 60-65 grams of protein per day so far. My silly phone goes off constantly reminding me to drink or eat. At 67, I'm finding myself wishing I'd done it sooner. I sta…

My bloodwork came back and I noticed a trend that points toward iron deficiency. Has anyone ever been stalled like this started iron supplements and started losing again? I was self pay at a surgical center and had to go to a hospital 10 hours later for another surgery because of internal bleeding(nicked artery), needed several transfusions and spent 3 days in the hospital plus had to have more blood and iron transfusions after leaving that hospital. I’m now stuck with over $175,000 in hospitals bills and more still coming. BCBS is denying the claim because they don’t cover bariatric surgery or complications. The hospital billed it as complications of lap band instead of complications of gastric sleeve. I’m told it doesn’t matter because they won’t pay either but what if I want to appeal it, shouldn’t it be billed correctly?

So glad I found this forum as I'm looking to calm my nerves. My procedure is scheduled next week and my anxiety is BEYOND. 3 years ago I made it until the night before my surgery where I had a total meltdown and canceled the procedure. This time around the process was shorter (less nutrition visits) and I feel like I'm on the speed round, while that may have seemed helpful at first... the countdown has me so frazzled. I'm open to any feedback, tips, suggestions... anything to get me through these next 6 days. Thanks in advance

  26. Hello I’m getting close to having my surgery just waiting on insurance clearance. I’m a daily matcha drinker and I understand that I’ll have to stop caffeine after surgery (coffee and high volume teas) I was wondering if any one could suggest a brand of match powder that is in the lower end of caffeine that I could introduce myself to at a low low serving size a month or so after my surgery. I understand that I may not even be able to tolerate an ounce of the drink but I want to at lest try before I say no never happening again. I also sweeten my teas with stevia so the sugar content is on the low end.

  27. I am really worried here and I am searching for your advice and experiences. I am 2 weeks post op gastric sleeve and 1 week on purée stage. I am very scared because I do feel hunger and I am able to eat 5 spoons we use for soup (europe) of minced meat cooked without any issue and not taking more than 5 minutes. I stop because I have to not because I feel some extreme discomfort and I am feeling still hungry. (i do not eat and drink at the same time). I can also drink liquids during the day with no issues. What is wrong with me?

Officially 8 weeks and 2 days Post-op and honestly I'm pretty comfortable with my progress though a little disappointed with my hydration. The weight loss is steady, protein intake was a little tricky but I think I got it, and keeping up with physical activity has been smooth. Last month's first follow up with the nutritionist did get under my skin, I questioned returning to my previous vitamins vs these nasty Flinstones...and she went on and on about my calcium, iron and protein levels wouldn't be sufficient due to me not eating meat. I explained I had no problem taking additional calcium or iron IF necessary, and finding new ways to add my protein BUT I wanted to see ho…

Hi I'm scheduled to get the Sleeve 5/6/15. I have two-year old twins and wanted to know how quickly you were able to get back to normal after the sleeve. My BMI is right at 40 so I don't have a tremendous amount of weight to lose so I'm hoping I can get back to normal in a couple days, just no lifting. I plan to go back to work in a week. Anyone please, how much downtime did you experience? Thanks, Nerkerle

  38. Hi All...having some strange post surgery happenings and wondering what is normal. Let me first say that I do walk pretty briskly for an hour 5 days per week and I also swim laps 5 times per week for an hour. So, I am getting A LOT of quality movement on top of general stretching, etc. I am about 9 weeks post op for VSG and everything is SORE. My knees are killing me, my back, my legs, my arms..you get my point. Weeks 4-6 I was insanely tired and that has gotten better but now I have this new problem. I don't know if it's just because I'm existing in this calorie deficit or what. (?) I'm at about 900 calories per day and have been told to keep it there until I hit g…

I feel terrible, but I am ready to get back on track. However I have some concerns. I am able to eat anything and even drink at the same time now - a year and a bit out from surgery. I don't get the "foamies" if I eat too much, etc. I don't get the full feeling that I was still getting right before my crash. What I am saying is - I am worried that the "tool" that was supposed to help me is no longer there to help keep me in check. I …

She has gone above and beyond with her support and care for me, all while still running a busy household. 47. Hi all. I am six weeks post-op from VSG and met with my doctor's team today. I have lost 22 pounds since surgery, which the team is very happy with. There was no concern about my progress at all and they said due to my weight on surgery date being 231, that I should put my expectations at 170 for my final maintenance goal. I was asked the usual questions and asked if I am hungry between meals and I said yes. I am finding myself hungry about 2.5 hours after (some) meals. When I said I was getting hungry, I was told it was gastritis, not hunger. I said "do they feel the same?" because it sure feels like hunger to me. It's my stomach making noises, and feeling hungry in…
