I've noticed my stomach likes to talk to me after I eat. Just can hear it like, digesting?? LOL! My husband has heard it standing next to me too! We just laughed! But should I expect this to be this way forever? Could be embarrassing if it were to happen when I'm with a client! ?But luckily, I rarely eat right before I'm working with someone. Also, do raw veggies bother you at all? Sometimes baby carrots don't feel great but I love raw things because I'm on the go so much. Baked ones do better for me but have to eat them cold during the day and with a fork. I am usually in my car eating unless I do in the morning or evening. And wanted to ask about protein shakes. I almos…

Hi all- looking for some information. I had gastric sleeve surgery in June 2024. I’ve only lost 40 pounds post op! I did lose 35 pounds before surgery so I’m down 75 pounds total, but it’s taken about 18 months. I’d like to lose 60 more pounds. Every time I go to the dietician, I’m told to hit my protein and water requirements, which I have been doing. I do have hypothyroidism and take medication for this. All my bloodwork is normal. I had a complete a hysterectomy 20 years ago so am on HRT. All those numbers are normal too. Regardless of how much I exercise or restrict my calories (800-1000 a day), my weight loss stalls or moves so slowly. I spent thousands at a fu…

I'm 5 days post op from gastric sleeve ? However, I've been having heart palpitations ever since. They're not intense or consistent but they're random and just feel weird. Prior to surgery I had a stress test, EKG, etc and I was fine. I do have controlled high blood pressure but haven't been allowed to take my blood pressure medication again yet (although I never had heart palpitations when I had uncontrolled HBP either). So, I'm wondering whether anyone had a similar experience and what was the reason/outcome? I'd hate to wait in an emergency room for 7 hours for nothing and when I called to talk to my surgeon yesterday, the a**hole acted like I was bothering him (this w…

Goodness I cannot believe that my 15 year surgery anniversary will be in October! A friend of mine is considering weight loss surgery so I went looking for this forum again and thought I would do a quick update! I had a VSG in Mexico (Mexicali) in October of 2010. I had zero complications and went from a surgery weight of 276 down to about 125ish. Size 24 to size 0. I had plastics in 2013ish (breast, arms, and tummy). I gained up to about 150/160 and stayed there for many years. Over the past 6 to 7 years I have gained weight thanks to nursing school and the pandemic ? but I'm happy with where I am! I am currently at 170 and in a size 8. (Lots of weight/ski…

I was just thinking about this. So looked it up on a bmi calculator. I will at least know my health is better and I have a greater chance of living longer if I get to the 160s. Yes, less than that will be great also. And had a follow up today. Went well. I speak with the plastic surgeon about skin removal on my stomach in 7 more months (at year mark) and have to have weighed about the same for 6 months, so at 18 months is when they'll consider surgery. Excited about that as well. Would love to hear your experiences with getting under being obese and also about plastic surgery. I heard Aetna will cover it. But no telling until we get to that point. Not going to worry much …

Hi all! I had VSG back in Dec of 2016. I was very involved in this community for a long time. I lost 124 pounds over about 18 months and maintained a 105-110 pound weight loss for almost 3 years. Then the pandemic hit. Then I had some non related medical issues. I went on a medication that caused weight gain. I got frustrated. I fell off the wagon and tumbled down the road and I’m now facing a 60 pound weight gain in about 4 years. I made a lot of excuses! I also started picking up bad habits like drinking alcohol, not counting calories and indulging in carb heavy snacks. But hitting 260+ again shook me. I was only 15 pounds down from my surgery weight…

Good morning, I had VSG surgery March 2022. I was 220 and my lowest was 135 to 140. Over two years I slipped up and started to go back to bad habits. Most recently it was due to work stress. I have left that job to start a new less stressful job. I was 190.1 2 weeks ago for my job physical which led me to realize how much I have regained. Since then I am now 181 by swimming 1 mile for 30 mins and elliptical 20 mins. I feel like I am stalling now. I’m also having trouble with my macros and calories. I attached what a typical day can look like for me but sometimes I struggle eating it all and calories could be at 800 and macros lower as well. my new job will be a…

I have been struggling for weeks with severe fatigue. I can barely do anything and if I do it just wipes me out. Bounced back and forth from doctor to doctor (the good old pass the patient game) and heard everything from depression, to malabsorption of antidepressants, lack of calories, lack of water/dehydration. Today after 10 or 11 hours of sleep I woke up just as tired as I went to bed and my boyfriend put his foot down - You're going to the ER. So now about six hours after I went to the ER I am home drank a high protein shake and looked at my test results the doctor said were fine. I came across many abnormal readings. The concerning ones were the ALT and AST from my …

Hey Everyone, I'm new here. Had VSG surgery on Friday, 7.18.25. To be honest, while I’m happy I went through with it, I’m def feeling pretty terrible right now. Every sip seems to be uncomfortable to borderline painful. I think that’s probably normal less than 48 hours out, but when do I turn the corner and start feeling better—and feeling like I can take a sip of water without feeling like I’m going to implode. Also a random ask, but did anyone else feel really cold off and on? My temp has been steady between 97-99 so it’s not a fever, but I just feel so cold. I’m currently taking Tylenol and Zofran around the clock. Please give me your best survival ti…

Last year, I got diagnosed with sleep apnea, and was made to start using a CPAP machine to sleep, I really disliked using it and I ever got used to it, and because of that, I made the decision to do the weight loss surgery My surgery team said I should make short term goals to keep myself motivated on my new journey Right off the bat, my only goal was to get rid of the CPAP machine, nothing else mattered, but after a few follow up appointments, I managed to really think of what I wanted to have After some thought, my goal list grew: 1. Give up my CPAP machine 2. Buy and wear a bathrobe from Macy's 3. Hit 200lb minimum I'm happy t…

I get full too fast and so can't add it to coffee.. I never can finish a cup. Anyone losing hair or lost it around this time? What helps? I'm 190.6 today. And in Nov last year before surgery I was 244. Feeling way better but I want to keep my hair too! LOL! Thanks for any advice and insight!

I haven't had any issues with my sleeve. Out of the blue about a month ago I had what I thought was the flu, didn't throw up but had bad nausea and intestinal pain. Then I went to urgent care and they said I was dehydrated and gave me Zofran. I thought I was doing better. I was at work and had excruciating pain in the top right of my abdomen. And then it stopped. The next day I was so tired. Had brain fog. Could only eat soft bland food, lots of intestinal pain. I went to the ER 8 days ago and they said that I had a hiatal hernia and gave me more Zofran and bentl. And they just said to follow up with the gastroenterology department. They did a CT a…

I'm wearing a new pair of jeans that are a size 14 (uk or size 10us) I have NEVER been a size 14 in my life! When I was a kid, I went from a kids 6 to a juniors 11 to a 16! Even when moving to the UK as a teenager and taking into account size diversions, I've never been this size. I'm not supposed to wear jeans to work, but my manager was so happy for me, she let me today! (I guess also because my last week is next week) but still. It's been an amazing 7 months! Three years ago, I lost my stepfather, two years ago i lost my mother and I was at my lowest point mentally and couldn't imagine light at the end of that tunnel, and now I'm happier and healthi…

Hey guys, brand new here. Halfway through my bariatrics process, and just a general question, hopefully from people who are around my same size? Started this process at 373 pounds. Goal weight to achieve was 345.6 pounds. Im currently at 337 pounds and still dropping, as I cut everything out of my diet first day after consult. Started fasting, portion control, intake control with what I was choosing to eat, and hitting the gym 5 days a week for resistance training. I am 6ft tall. Mainly posting to see what process yall went through in how much expected weight loss. I know all bodies are different, but trying to get a better idea to compensate for loose skin. Still have 3 …

Hey everyone! I had my surgery on the 9th! Everything went really well, I’m still a little sore, but it gets easier every day. The biggest challenge has been the protein shakes, while they were good at first, I have begun to have a dislike for them. Tomorrow is mashed potatoes, soups, and creamy peanut butter! Looking forward to that immensely. So far I haven’t experienced any nausea or vomiting. I already feel a change in my weight I’ve lost 25 lbs between my preop and post op diet. Once I start working out the weight should fall off. Thanks to everyone who greeted me and sent their well wishes!

Hello, I had my surgery back on 2/20, so I'm a little less than 3 months post op, so far I have lost a little over 50lbs(yay), I was just wondering, how soon do people start hitting a stall? I weigh myself weekly and for the last 3 weeks I have been at 266, I wasn't sure if this was too soon I've had friends and coworkers who's also done the surgery and they said they didn't start hitting a plateau until almost a year in My diet consist of a protein drink for breakfast, a snack around 10:30, usually a babybel or a sugar free jerky stick, lunch would either be chicken or fish with cactus, another snack around 3pm and when I get home (6pm) I do another…

HW: 399 CW: 264 GW: 199 Total Inches lost: Waist: 12.5” Hips: 10” Progress video of my non scale victories & some before & after photos attached. ☺️ Hi everyone! I had sleeve surgery on 12/6/23. My weight on the day of surgery was 381, but just a few months prior (October ‘23), I was in the 390s — peaking at 399. ? I still can’t believe how far I’ve come since then. ? At first, around this time last year, I was a little discouraged that I wasn’t one of those lost 100 lbs in the first 4 months stories. But now, looking back, I’m so proud of the progress I’ve made and those thoughts are long gone. My doctor even said he prefers when patient…

Hey y’all! I was sleeved on 04/28 so I’m one week out, however, I’ve been having some dark brown discharge (not super heavy) but it started 2-3 days post op. I’m wondering if it’s surgery related which would be weird right ? But I had my period 4/19 so wondering if it’s just delayed discharge from that. Pretty much wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

So I had gastric sleeve surgery in 2017 and ever since I have had severe GERD. I just went through an upper GI endoscopy and it was found that I have a huge hiatal hernia, like half of my stomach! My surgeon says the only real way to get relief is the have a gastric bypass but my current insurance does not cover any bariatric surgery. Is there a way to get them to pay since the surgery isn’t for weight loss? I have BCBS of Alabama.

Hello! My name is Merayna and I am 20 years old. I had the gastric sleeve surgery done in Mexico at Obesity Control Center in Tijuana. I hit my highest weight a month before I had surgery done which was 238 lbs. I made it to 226 lbs for surgery and almost 4 months post-op I have gotten down to 186 lbs. I never knew how big of a difference 50 pounds could make on not only my face and my body but my confidence as well. Thankfully, I haven't experienced any bad side effects from surgery other than the expected hair loss that has recently started. (*knock on wood*) I can say that before surgery I did struggle with Type 2 Diabetes, High Triglycerides, Hypothyroidism, and PCOS.…

Hello, this is my first time posting after finding this forum back in February, I had my surgery day back on 2/20 (gastric sleeve) and everything has gone well, I have a great support system at home and have been very strict on following all my phases (yay for finally being in phase 4), I haven't felt bad, so far no dumping syndrome and my body seems to be accepting foods well The issue is that I work at a clinic (admin dept.) and some of the medical staff have been telling me of patients that they've had or know who've had issues with their surgery, from things like, "oh they ended up in the hospital because they had a nutritional deficiencies" or "their sutures cau…

Hi everyone! I have not been on these forums for sooooo long- and it was the band forums...anyways. I had my band placed in January 2012. All was well, I lost some weight- then I didn't. Had a hernia repair and band refill, but have been so off track for so long. I definitely learned to eat around my band. And now I have a constant lump in my throat that my doc things is ghost reflux- I don't feel any burning like typical heartburn, but have this lump in my throat- especially at night when I'm trying to sleep. And I wonder if it's from the band. I still have restriction, I still can get stuck but I eat around the band, etc. I have been doing better and have lost 25 lbs…

It's been a while since I've been active on here, but I'm really struggling. Any advice or encouragement would be a huge help. ? Almost right at my year mark post-op, I stopped losing weight. My doctor said that I should still be losing 1-2 pounds a week. Around this time I was eating 1400-1500 calories, so they recommended I scale back to 1200. I try to eat whole, unprocessed foods about 80% of the time, I still track what I eat, count my calories, prioritize protein, and exercise 4-5 times a week for 30 minutes (usually cardio, but I do resistance train, just not faithfully). I am eating 1200-1400 calories a day, and I'm struggling so bad. My weight sits somew…

Hello everyone, I’ve been advised to consider gastric banding as a solution for severe obesity. This procedure involves placing a silicone ring around the upper part of the stomach to reduce its volume and create a feeling of fullness. I regularly practice meditation and autogenic training, often focusing on the chakras. I was wondering if anyone here has had a similar experience and noticed any changes in their energy field—particularly related to the third chakra—or any effects on meditation and autogenic practices after the surgery. Have you observed anything unusual or significant post-procedure? Thank you in advance for your insights and experienc…

Many of you know my story. Was two months shy of turning 54 in 2019 when I got my sleeve. Lost all my weight & more and was successfully maintaining that low weight. I began gaining weight from puberty: about a stone a year. Then I started my 60-75kg weight diet/regain swing from my early 20s until peri menopause & menopause hit and then seemingly overnight I was 91kg. Nothing I did moved that weight. Hence my decision to get a sleeve. I experienced some weight regain (good 2 almost 3 kgs) almost 4 yrs ago after I had my gall removed. We worked out I had an absorption issue and wasn’t absorbing protein well or it turned out my HRT tablet (hot flushes, …

So I’m 5 weeks post op and have only lost 13 lbs. I feel stuck and wondering if that’s normal to lose only that amount in a month? I feel defeated as I only have protein shakes for breakfast and lunch while I’m at work . but dinner is where i incorporate a soup or broth. I just don’t know if I’m doing this right? I’m supposed to be in the pureed stage and then go into soft foods next week.. I need advice on how to help my weight come off faster /better.. this has been a crazy mind game for me ..

Hey guys, How is everyone coping with life after being sleeved? I am doing a lot better than I was a few weeks ago but I still have a long way to go! My surgical wound that would not heal had to be packed by the nurses for a month. I'm 10 weeks post op and it has finally closed but it seemed to take forever! The head hunger is very up and down for me and torturous at times.... but I am starting to learn new things about myself when it happens. I am still very much navigating my way through dealing with it, I have good days and bad days depending on what's going on in my life. Depression is definitely a thing for me, I am very up and down. Well after months of classes and clearances I finally had my surgery yesterday (March 20). I am actually doing great! No pain only pressure from the gas and soreness. I’m very pleased so far. The nurse that called to check on me asked if I was sure I had surgery because no one does this well after surgery. LOL.

I had a failed lap band, and decided to get a gastric sleeve. I suffer from Cyclic vomiting Syndrome. It is an uncommon disorder, many doctors know little about it. There are 4 people on my CVS support group who had bariatric surgery and now their episodes are out of control. Two of them went from episodes once a month to daily, and are now in wheelchairs due to malnutrition.I asked my surgeon, but he didn't say there were increased complications with CVS and gastric surgery.I cannot find any info out there, but there aren't many of us CVSers who are obese. Does anyone know ANYTHING about this topic?

It's my 5 month anniversary from surgery. It's not been a good month. I'm trying to find a new job because I'm miserable to at my current one. I find that old habits are starting to slip in. I've gained a kilo in this month alone. I'm still heading in the right direction, and I'm kicking the old habits back out. I've not been as vigilant as I should have been. I just need to remember that I'm still better off now than I was 5 months ago and keep looking forward.

I did it! Made it to Onederland. Feel relieved but not losing my focus! Also had to buy some new clothes already! Pants were sagging. Yay! Ahhhh! I'm so glad I got here! 198.4. :::sigh::: Haven't been here since probably 2014. Long time! I just want to keep going. I keep changing my final goal though. How will I even know what I want? Been heavy since age 3.5 years old. How did you choose a goal weight? I go between 124 and 140. LOL. I'm 5'3". I have been 155 before as an adult but still felt big around my belly and hips so need to definitely go further. Thanks in advance for your thoughts on this! ?

Hi everyone! I haven't been on this site in a VERY long time, but I am currently on a new weight loss journey and I thought I would report in with my experience and the hope that some of you newbies can learn from it. I had my VSG surgery on 9/1/2014, so 10 years ago this month. At the time of my surgery, I weighed ~260 pounds and I am 5'6". I have lost and gained weight a million times before that, with my highest weight ever having been 277 pounds. In the first couple of years after my surgery, I was able to get below my goal weight (165) all the way down to 154. During that time I trained for and ran in a half marathon and a full marathon, completing the full…
