Does anyone else have issues with burping at all times of the day after this surgery? I drink i burp, I eat i burp, I breathe i burp! Anyone else suffering with this?

It would be helpful to know how far out you are from surgery?

I didn't really have this issue, but it's not that unusual, especially in the early months after surgery. I believe it's mostly due to the fact that your new stomach is smaller and less "stretchy" than it was before, so there's nowhere for the swallowed air to go. Slowing down how quickly you eat and drink can help since those are common reasons for swallowing more air.

Oh yes I burp so loud I turn heads. I always did but its much worse now, so loud. I have used windeze tablets if I am out with strangers. I sometimes say , sorry I have stomach issues or that burger really didn't like me ! What can you do ?

Perhaps you are burping because you are gulping your fluids and getting air into your stomach/pouch. You could also be dealing with some of the air that was put into your abdomen for the surgery. Sometimes that moves into the pouch or what is left of the stomach and you will burp it out. As what SpartanMaker stated, it would be helpful to know how far out from surgery you are because if you are like 3 months out, it may be your signal that it is time to stop eating, it indicates you are full. Some people get a runny nose, burping, the foamies, etc. Everyone is different. Let us know how far out from surgery you are so we can perhaps be more helpful.

i'll be 7 yrs post op later this year and i still burp like a regular teenaged boy (note: im a 53 yr old woman, lol).

its actually much better now, in my early days i burped like a teenaged boy desperately looking for attention, ha!

me, and all those around me (who matter) are used to it.

I have the exact opposite problem. I'm 3 weeks post op with the sleeve. I always feel like I have to burp but I can't. It's very uncomfortable.

Being 3 weeks out, you do probably still have swelling from the surgery inside your body, and thus you need to sip and eat carefully. Not sure what diet stage you are on, but certainly you have a post-op visit coming up, I would definitely bring it up to the team and see if they want to do further testing. Three weeks out is still newly fresh post-op, and things should get better in time, but certainly bring it to your teams attention if it persists.

Thank you. I did talk to my Dr about it. He said he might have to go in and loosen the pouch a bit. He said he might've made it too tight. We are gonna wait and see. I have no idea what this loosening the pouch entails. I don't want another surgery. This one was very difficult.

Yes, burping all the time! I had this condition for years before I got the sleeve surgery. I'm now 1 year post-op and still have it. I can burp on que. If I get too gassy and uncomfortable after eating too fast or too much, I take a simethicone gas chewable like Gas X or Wonder Belly and I will feel relief in mere minutes! I've heard licorice root and fennel helps alot with gas and bloating too.

I am a year out from surgery and burp A LOT. I can do it quietly, but it’s far more than before surgery. It’s not a nuisance or anything (at least to me).
