3 year post op - weight regain

Good morning,

I had VSG surgery March 2022. I was 220 and my lowest was 135 to 140. Over two years I slipped up and started to go back to bad habits. Most recently it was due to work stress. I have left that job to start a new less stressful job. I was 190.1 2 weeks ago for my job physical which led me to realize how much I have regained. Since then I am now 181 by swimming 1 mile for 30 mins and elliptical 20 mins.
I feel like I am stalling now. I’m also having trouble with my macros and calories. I attached what a typical day can look like for me but sometimes I struggle eating it all and calories could be at 800 and macros lower as well.
my new job will be a desk job so I’m now wondering what should my macros and calories be at? Am I eating too much or too low?

It might be worth getting in contact with your dietician again to review your current eating, activity, etc. to help devise a plan which will meet your current nutritional needs and support your weight loss. Things change in our lives, like changing to a less stressful & less active job, which can mean what worked for us before doesn’t now. Looks like you’ve made a good start in getting back on track (congrats on your weight loss so far) and you just might need little tweaks to refine. Remember stalls are part of our weight loss and that could be what’s happening now not that you’re doing something wrong.

All the best.

Just my opinion, but I think your macros might be a bit low. I know everyone is different, of course. Personally, I eat anywhere from 1800–2000 calories a day. I do 40 minutes of resistance training and 30–45 minutes of cardio five days a week, plus one day where I run with my pup. If I eat less than that, I start to feel fatigued. I'm also in a slight deficit. I’d still like to get back to 165 lbs, but I’m starting to feel okay with where I’m at.

How are your workouts feeling? Do you feel like you’re fueling enough for them? Sometimes our bodies stall because they’re trying to hold on to what they have. Not saying you need to eat more, but are the foods you’re choosing keeping you full and making you feel good?

I work a desk job, so I really have to be mindful about snacking—it can get away from me if I’m not careful!

side note that protein bar sounds delicious!
