  10. It was a vicious circle of cutting down or abstaining…as soon as I had a drink it was back to normal again . I found after surgery it really affected me quickly. I didn’t like waking up regretting drinking again. So I had counselling to help me understand how it’s a habit and so much of a habit is automatic pilot. I soon understood I was doing this without thinking or bring present. I replaced my drink with a nice alcohol free drink then that became my new habit. Then I did my different events without alcohol it started to get easier and normal. I soon realised I didn’t miss it or more importantly didn’t need it. I enjoyed being present and not drunk. No shame or hangover. It was the best thing I did! I read various quit lit literature listened to podcasts. I knew what ethanol was and how it now affected me. Hope this helps…

  12. I haven’t been here for a long time! I’m 12 years post op! I had a Gastric Sleeve It’s been a good journey. I started at over 19stone. Its success was great I lost weight consistently and got down to around 12 stone 7lbs. In about 29 months. Felt fantastic and got married and had my dream wedding and lived life. I fluctuated up and down a few pounds over the following few years. I noticed alcohol really affected me extremely quickly making me very intoxicated and soon noticed I was drinking 5 nights a week. I then decided in Nov 2022 to get my weight back under control as I had put on a couple of stone and part of this new decision was to take alcohol out of my life. This was the best decision I’ve ever made. I lost the remaining weight and feel and look so healthy. I’m a regular exerciser now swimming, cycling with Pilates classes. I include the colour of the rainbow in my daily fruit and vegetable intake plus protein and milk and healthy carbs. No ultra processed foods just clean home healthy cooking. I feel like a new women now age 62 but feel in my 40’s… I strive everyday to be healthier, fitter and look forward to to longevity 🤗

  18. Hi, my name is Debbie, I was sleeved on 19/08 at the Princess Margaret hospital in Windsor. All has gone very well. So relieved and pleased. On liquids until Tues when I can hv a thicker fluid, ie mashed potatoes with Garvey so it's runny. Stewed fruit. I've been having W.W soup, milky coffee with skimmed milk, bouillon, natural fat free yogurts and herbal teas plus water. Not hungry and very happy. Going for little walks and watching lots of tv.lol I'm in a great support group via my surgeons office as he operates in a few hospitals x

  22. Hi, I'm new here today. I am having the operation on 19th Aug in Windsor U.k. Very excited about the future. I've not told anyone apart from my partner who is very supportive. It's not very well known here and I fear negative conversations. I'm getting married April 2015 and so looking forward to being a slim bride. Lots to look forward to. Debbie
