9-day plateau Wk 3 Post-Op gastric sleeve

I'm 22 days post sleeve surgery. I haven't lost any weight in 9-days since I transitioned from all liquids to slowly adding purees. I was told to start adding purees on day 14 starting with 1-2T three times per day as tolerated. Over the following 2-weeks I was to gradually increase up to 4T three times per day. Throughout, continuing with protein shake to ensure adequate protein intake. I'm supposed to get at least 60g protein per day and at least 64oz water. All purees are supposed to be protein-centric, avoiding carbs. I've followed everything to the T, and like I said, haven't lost any weight in 9-days. As a matter of fact, I gained a pound today. I expected plateaus during this journey, but am shocked to be experiencing them this early in the process. Has anyone else experience this? I'd love to hear what I'm doing wrong or how to get over this hump. Just frustrated.

Stalls are perfectly normal. You’re not failing or doing anything wrong. Almost everyone experiences their first one ( yes, first one) around the week three mark but it can be before or after that. They usually last around 1 - 3 weeks.

Stalls are a time when your body takes stock of what’s been happening. Think of it like when you need to take a time out when life becomes stressful and you just want to stay home & reboot yourself. Your body is doing the sane thing.

Best advice is to stick to your plan & just make the changes your plan advises. Don’t stress your body anymore than that. The stall will break when your body is ready. You can’t force it to break. Good news is when it does break, you often notice your weight loss is greater for a day or so than it had been prior.

Weight loss is never a consistent straight line on a graph. It goes up & down, zigging & zagging, stopping & restarting. You’ll lose more one week and less the next. That’s just how it goes. As long as your general trend of loss over time is downwards you’re golden.

I get annoyed that surgeons &/or support teams do not prepare people for this occurrence because they are very frustrating and cause a lot of anxiety for some.
