O_o Still can't believe I'm having the procedure soon. Nervous about this two week preop. I've read so many say after day 4 it seems to get better. Ohhhhh, I'm praying hard. Just had my last meal and I have to admit, knowing what I know now (after the education, consults, etc) it wasn't as pleasurable as food had been to me for so many years. Wish me luck and I'm praying for us all.

Tomorrow is my surgery. I was not put on a surgical diet given my lower bmi so I have indulged in my Farewell to food Tour over the last 2 weeks. Indulged is an understatement. Tonight at midnight is my cut off. Am going out for my last supper (did someone mention I was going to be executed?) that will definiitely have fois gras on the menu. And then....enough! Just got back from the grocery store where I purchased my post-surgical purchases for food for the next few weeks. I was studying the babyfood labels like it was the holy grail when a kind woman behind me asked me how old my baby is. Coulda been worse - she could have asked me when my baby is due! …

I marked the date of my last post January 21, 2014 4:31 am "400 lbs of Pain." I posted a couple of follow-up responses after that and then it happened. By mid-February I dropped down to 281. I still remember seeing the scale and thinking 'Wow, I never thought I'd be under 300 lbs again.' Nearly 100 lbs lighter something happened to me...I met and began dating someone on January 24, 2014. Having lost weight and now receiving attention, I was way out of my comfort zone and I guess I just went for the first person who smiled at me. She wined and dined me for sure and I started eating, not large amounts but bad for me, off the diet food and alcohol which is a complete no-no…

Hello all! I got my surgery date! I got a call on Friday and the scheduler said that they have either April 25th or May 23rd. I picked April 25th! Am I crazy? That is less than 2 weeks away! Started my pre-op diet today. I am excited but also very nervous. Am I doing the right thing? Was there any other way that I could have done this?

I have to get this off my chest..I've been preparing for the day that my insurance bcbs would approve me for my gastric sleeve. I went through all the testing started exercising regularly and even began eating on smaller plates and drinking 30 mins prior or after my meals...to find out today my insurance does not believe I am co morbitly obese. I'm so frustrated. Any suggestions of what I can do to get this approved?

Well today I finally did a hour on the tread I'm so happy sounds so dumb but I feel so accomplished! Gives me hope that with bumping up my time I'll get out of my stall. for anyone reading this what kind of work outs would you recommend when not being able to lift? Or do you recommend a work out DVD that's worked for you?

Was sleeved on 4/7. Getting a little better each day, started on puréed foods today. I took my girls out shopping for a bit today. By the time wee reached the register at Kohls I was done! I wanted to pay with part cash/part check card and the girl at the resister could not process how to do it. Now normally I'm a calm person, even if someone annoys me but today, not so much! I got very nasty, very quickly with the woman. Strange for me! Anyone else having any mood issues??

I have been banded for 2 plus years with little success so I am getting it removed March 24 and having the gastric sleeve done. I found the banding super painful ( and I've had 3 C-sections) so I am scared to go through it again. I feel like this is my last chance though, the breakthrough I have been needing. So I'm getting it done. I am too young to be this sick...I have fibromyalgia, sleep apnea and high blood pressure to name a few issues and Im only 31!! Anyone else with fibro that had the gastric sleeve??

I am two years out from lap band. . . . really wouldn't change a thing. My BMI is down over 12 and I am within 10 pounds of my goal weight. I am having a mastopexy (breast lift) and Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) done this June to finish my journey. This forum was helpful from the begining of my journey.

Here I am packing for a vacation I do not want to go on... Going to Florida, and I am sure everyone knows or remember how miserable it is being heavy in hot weather..We are going to DisneyWorld and I am worried about the humilation of having to get off an attraction because the safety device doesnt fit me. (It happened last year and I was mortified.) Also I will be required to show myself in a swimsuit..-sigh- It doesnt help that because of this vacation my surgery date had to be moved up. If not for this trip I could have had my surgery on April 22. Now it is on May 12. Please dont flame me saying I am being selfish and should be happy I am spending time with my fa…

Hello all. I have been lurking for a few days here and found answers to many of my questions (as well as worries i didnt know I had lol. The internet is a double edged sword.) Anyway I decided it would feel good just to post where I'm at on my journey I had my surgery on April 7th so now I'm 6 days post-op, on liquid Protein. I haven't weighed myself and I'm determined not to get a scale for at least a little while since I tend to obsess. Just trying to listen to my body and follow instructions. What got me here. I have always been heavy since about 4th grade. In different periods I was successful for short periods but typically about 20 lbs came off and more than…

I has happened so fast and it was so easy but at the same time it was extremely hard and slow. I say that because I have been struggling with losing weight for so many years and even thought I wasn't fully successful those years prior well it was extremely hard. I had my surgery a little over a year ago. April 8th 2013.. As of last Tuesday I get horrible stomach cramps (feel a lot like menstrual cramps- but I'm not on my days) along with my stomach cramps I have diarrhea. It comes and goes but i don't know what to do! I notice it most at night. I have to get up and go to the restroom 5-8 times during the night. Has anyone else had this happen to them? I am considering calling my doctor tomorrow but don't want this to be something normal and I'm making a big deal out of it. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Last weekend I went on a trip to Yosemite to Celebrate my fiancée birthday. I had never been in April and it was wonderful! The weather was warm enough for shorts and there was hardly anyone there! My inner athlete had a battle with the body I have allowed to fall apart the last decade. My brain still thought I could hike the trails I could easily manage when I was fit in my 20's. The first day we attempted upper Yosemite falls. I. Was. Dying. While I didn't physically hurt, the altitude change made it hard for me to breathe! I had to give up 3/4 into the strenuous hike and turn around. The next day we hiked Vernal falls all the way to the top via the mist trail. Bo…

HI everyone, I'm Julie. Just starting my journey with WLS. Have seen my surgeon for the first time a week ago and have started all of the other testing I need to have done before surgery, pysch test, saw a dietitian, will have sleep study done soon as well. Just now in the middle of the 6 months of seeing my regular doctor every month for my insurance, two more appointments to go. I feel like I still have much to learn but am eager to get going with it although still no date set for my surgery, waiting for all of my hoop-jumping to be done first. I am anxious to get to know everyone and learn everything I need to make this journey successful. I have been obese sin…

Everybody has their own journey. Mine was over a year and half of contemplation. One last ditch diet effort that cost me $3500, ideal protein. It helped but again I gained it all back. So my operation was a success thanks to a top notch doctor and hospital. All the right meds. I won't deny the small sips of protein and water the first week were not fun. Left use shoulder and stomach pain lingered for me as I have fibro. However, I have overcome that and now. I started walking and increasing my exercise each week. I am beginning to feel good both physically and mentally. My head still is yearning for those pretty cakes/cupcakes, ice cream and and cookies but th…

I went in for my lap band surgery on March 25 and was put under. My oxygen levels fell and the anesthesiologist had to wake me up. No surgery :-(. I had a upper respiratory infection the week before, and even though I was well my lungs were still not recovered. I rescheduled for April 22. I live in Southeast Texas and my allergies are horrible year-round. Two weeks pre op this time and I have a very mild sinus issue going on. My GP says I should be fine as my lungs are clear and I'll be done with a 10 day course of antibiotics next week. However, I'm still terrified that it will happen again. Anyone else had this happen?

I am a 37 year old male that has always struggles with my weight. Multiple diets that did nothing more than induce degrees of yo-yo weight gain/loss. I have been a type 1 diabetic since age 7, and now deal with type 2 as well. I have finally made the decision to consider VSG. I am in the baby stages. I have gone to the first seminar and have scheduled my first appointment. I am a bit nervous of the road ahead, but with a brand new baby at home, and my co-morbidities, I fear not seeing her graduate high school even more. I am seeing Dr. Jeffrey Johnsrud at St. Josephs in OC. The whole process is intimidating to me down to and including complications. I am an ICU Nurse and …

I have been emotionally eating today. Gee I wonder if it's because I am moving over 500 miles away, starting a new job with a new company and trying to pack up my life in less than 14 hours from now? I think moving stress has gotten to me. I went and got a slice nd I ate the whole thing but it made me so sick. Terribly dizzy, saliva starting going. No weird gut wrenching or acidic stuff just kind of like here ya go. 5 mins later felt fine. However, no more for me. I am done eating this evening. The dough really did me in. I think I got cocky and brave. Lol. I am glad my body now stops my bad behavior. It reminds me-hey you-yeah you-cut it out!! I am so much …

MY name is Jeanee. I live right outside Anchorage, Alaska. Mom to a 28 year old, mommy to 8 year old b/g twins. Stay at home mom with some photography work on the side. I got the lap band in Nov of 2007. Had one problem after another. In Dec. 2013, I had my "final straw" surgery and it failed after 3 weeks. So, that was 7 the surgery related to the band. The port kept ripping loose. With that, every movement was like it was ripping up my insides so activity was a no no. Or else I paid the price that usually lasted 4-5 days. I wanted it OUT, Due to my diabetes, we decided to revise and go with aRNY. I had my RNY on April 7th. I am now 5 days post op. …

I haven't made a final decision yet, but I'm not sure I want to tell a lot of people that I'm opting for WLS. The problem with the sleeve is it's hard to hide, from hospital time to rapid weight loss. It may sound foolish but many are family members who I love, otherwise I wouldn't care so much, but they don't get WLS. How did you handle it?

Hi everyone , I am starting my 2 week pre op diet on the 16th and I just found out my seven year relationship is probably coming to an end. She wants someone else . I don't know what's happening and she has no answers except she doesn't know what she wants and she's confused . Now I have to go through this alone and I don't think I'm strong enough to do it . I can't eat or sleep and the only thing that numbs the pain is liquor . I am second guessing even having this surgery now . Has this happened to others ?

I am in such desperate need for help asap. So.. I'm not telling my family about my surgery. I know they will attempt to talk me out of it. I have only told my two best friends. However my surgery is in 6 days. On the 16th, we normally spend easter together as a tradition at my sister house in Va. I will only be 3 days post op. There are going to be so many of us in my sister house, and a lot of cooking going on. How do I explain my drain if they see it, and how do I explain not eating. My family is so nosey, and very opinionated I know for a fact they are gonna ask so many questions. If i don't go to my sis house on Easter I will never hear the end of it. But I also read…
