Hello! I am a mother of two teenagers and have struggled my whole life with being overweight. I finally made the decision for weight loss surgery back in the summer of 2013. It was such a long process to be approved by my insurance but finally they sent my approval letter in March of 2014. My lapband procedure was on 3/20/2014. It was the scariest and most exciting day for me. So far i have been overjoyed at the results. At my two week check up, i was down 16 lbs. I havent had a fill yet but so far my food intake is where it should be. So excited to see the results as time progresses.

I am so afraid that I am going to stretch out my stomach I do not think I am eating enough. So I am seeking advise on how much at once should I be worried about eating before this would happen. At this point in my journey I just this week advanced to soft foods. Fortunately, my surgery went well and I've not had any complications. Everly thing I've read said 2 to 3 oz at a time so up until today It has been work to just get in 300 calories a day. I am only drinking 1/2 Protein drink like twice a day. Yesterday I ate 1/2 hot dog ( because am so hungry and it made my stomach sing like a canary) I eat 1/2 of a potato as large as kiwi and it takes me about 15 minutes to g…

In need of some advice....I'm really struggling with this purée diet thing and have started seriously sneaking in normal food in my final week... Granted I only have 1 week of purée left to go, I'm just surprised that I can manage it with no issues plus I now feel like I am hungry all the time?? (like iv stretched my pouch) whereas before I could survive hours in between the liquid shakes and stuff??? Is this normal or have I messed something up already..... When does the "restriction" and feeling of fullness kick in or am I just doomed to fail....? And had a chocolate relapse with Easter so that is not helping either....I'm feeling seriously depressed now

So I was sleeved on the 16th of this month. I must say the first 48 hrs were the worst, but i had to keep reminding myself that I just had major surgery. Day one out of surgery when I went for my swallow test they told me I was the best patient so far they had, even though I was moving around like a pro, I was still in pain. I didn't wanna get any blood clots. Speed up to day 3, I was doing much better. I decided to go to my bff house to hang out she had a cook out. Now even though I wasn't feeling that well I still went, and decided to "try" and have a turkey burger. HORRIBLE IDEA. I felt it in my chest going down slow so much nausea it was unbelievable. I went home with…

I really don't know how to handle my best friend, after she told me last week that she was jealous of my weight loss and my surgery. She and I have been friends for ten years, I have been obese the whole time up until recently. I've lost 115 pounds since Jan of 2013. My surgery was last June. All that being said, my best friend was one of the only people I've confided in. This whole time I've thought she's been supportive but come to find out it's just been a competition for her. She has always been mostly thin but would like to lose 10 pounds. She will compliment me and follow up the compliment with wow what size are those jeans they look amazing! Or you've gotta be in t…

I am in Texas and my doctor is Clayton Frenzel and I had my surgery on April 16. My scars look great and he seems to be a great surgeon. He is also a plastic surgeon. I had surgery at Texas General in Grand Prairie, TX. I was treated so poorly that I regretted having the surgery. I am very sensitive to medicine and it takes me a minute to get my barrings and wake completely up. The entire nursing staff where Africans and were so mean to me. What I mean is that they pulled my IV's to get me up, they wanted to argue with me with I asked why have I had this oxygen tube in my nose and no air for 1 1/2 days. The nurse said, don't worry you can breath. If you weren't brea…

Had surgery on 4/15, last Tuesday. And I am still in quite a lot of pain. Is this normal? When did your pain go away and you were able to start regular activities again. It hurts for me to bend over, wash up by myself, take small walks outside, etc. are there any ways except pain meds to help get back to normal? It's been 6 days and I'm a little worried. This is also my first major surgery.

Hello again all. I have been extremely frustrated with my weight loss. I had my surgery on Feb 5 2014 so I am a little over 2 months po. The first month from the time the Dr recorded my weight until he seen me 1 month po I dropped 34 lbs. I was ecstatic. When I went in for my 2 month check I only lost 7 lbs taking me down to 226. That was on April 7. Since then I have dropped 8 lbs in the last 2 weeks. I work out at least 5 days a week doing 45 mins on my elliptical and then lifting 10 lb weights on top of it to get my arms in shape hoping some of the skin will stretch back. I eat healthy getting 60 grams of protein daily and plenty of water though sometimes I may be a fe…

I am scheduled for surgery on the 25th of this month & I feel all alone! I know for a fact that my husband does not approve of this surgery & I haven't told my family or coworkers only because they are very judgmental & gossip way too much for me. My only comfort during this preop period has been me reading you guys posts & comments. By the way...thank you all for that! :-) I'm afraid that after the surgery I will fail only because of the lack of support. What's crazy about all of this is that I'm usually the type of person that feels like I don't need no one to help me but I'm confessing now that I really need some support to get me through this life chan…

Hello Sleevers, Im 25 days post-op, and feeling great. One great thing I have noticed is my sexual appetite has grown enormously. I want it morning, noon, and night. Just 2 months ago my fiancee would complain that my sexual drive was to low. Now the woman is hiding from me, lol. My hw 360 SW 350 CW 320 GW 200. My woman told me that she scared what sex is going to be like at my GW. The smallest I have ever been in are relationship is 285. This new drive I have is another positive affect of the sleeve. This another confirmation that I made the right choice. So has the sleeve changed you?

So, yeah this has been a headache and a half. So many steps to get to surgery, I have lost track. But I know that now, I am to far up to be denied! All I have left is my psych eval, my pre-op class which is combined with my first nutritional appointment, then my actual pre-op appointment that will be one on one with my doctor! Literally 3 steps away from surgery! Unfortunately since they all are appointments... I do not have complete control over when they all happen. My pre-op class for example is scheduled for 7-11.... Gahhhh!!!!!!! So far away!!!!! My psych eval is sometime in May. And I won't get my pre op appt with my doc until a date has been chosen, which won…

I was sleeved march 24th. I know only 1-2ounces is all I need and that is supposed to make me feel full but I feel as if I can eat 6 ounces before I feel full. I don't know what to do. I went for my 3 week checkup on the 16th and he told me I was doing great. However it's been just eggs and mashed potatoes and soft things like that because at first tuna fish was ok and now it gives me horrible heartburn to the point I feel like I'm going to puke! Am I doing something wrong???

This past Tuesday was exactly 8 weeks since the day of my surgery and I couldn't be happier! I'm down 25 lbs, have 3cc's in my band, and I'm feeling great! I love my LapBand and I feel like I'm living a whole new, positive life. It's really easy to get caught up in posting on these forums when something is going wrong, but sometimes, you just have to stop and take a minute to Celebrate what is going right I posted some side by side comparison pictures on my blog of my progress so far. Here is the link if anyone would like to take a look. http://blissfullybanded.wordpress.com/2014/04/18/2-month-bandiversary-pictures/ Thanks for all the support fellow Bandsters! I…

My thing is I feel really tired after 12:00 noon and push myself to make it til 5:00 closing. I've lost 26 pounds todate and my precious wife really helps me with my meals. Hello everyone, I am new to this site, but I've been on and off this journey for a while! I've been trying to get bariatric surgery for a while (about 5-6 years), but there was always a problem or just no real support in helping me get to the next step in the process. I've been with my current surgeon since December 2013, and it has been great! I went through the supervised diet portion for insurance, and dropped about 12lbs, I just got my date (May 8th) this past Thursday, and I'm super excited, but super nervous too! I have my nutrition class on April 24th, so things are moving fast! I would love to have some friends for support and advice, so feel free to friend me! Al…

Hello again, fellow sleevers. I've been on and off this site since October, 2012. My story is long, and it's available in my blog link, so I won't bore anyone with it again. The latest highlights are that the job I started last July actually covers bariatric surgery. I was submitted in December with my past data, but was denied because the new insurance required 6 months with NUT, as opposed to the 3 months my previous insurer required. 6 consecutive months. After completing an additional three months, January through March, the office got around to resubmitting me around 4/10. I had actually lost so much faith in the front office staff, I continued making my N…

So I am about 6 weeks post op. ( I actually had to check the calendar to figure this out...it seems like forever ago!) I feel amazing and have really very little complaints. Im able to be as active as I was before surgery and I am down about 37 lbs since the day of surgery - i am stoked. The only down side to feeling so great is that no foods bother my sleeve. this is great because I am able to eat all the healthy stuff I want, but it also sucks because I can tolerate all the crap that got me into a bad place to start with. I knew that the surgery wouldn't be a quick fix, but that fact is really starting to hit home with me now. I hate to admit it, but I have allowed myse…

Good Morning All, I am 4 days post op and feeling pretty good today. Slept the whole night with no pain meds and no pain, and actually slept a little on my side. I didn't venture into the bedroom but fell asleep and stayed on the couch. food and Fluid wise I am doing well. Have starting with warm fluid first thing in the am and then move into a Protein shake. I had ring I noodles yesterday minus all the rings. Great broth to have. After about 6 oz I am completely done and don't want anymore. It takes too long to drink and gets cold so I just store it away for the next day. I'm on an all liquid diet at this time but not having a hard time. My Protein shakes give me ene…

I went to town today to buy a plastic floor mat for my computer chair and then I began to think of all the little things, outcomes from Bariatric Surgery that make a big difference in my life. I underwent surgery 11 months ago. I lost 20 pounds pre-op and 80 pounds post-op for a total weight loss of 100 pounds. I thought I would start this thread off and others who are far enough along might add to this list. 1. Replacing plastic floor mats. The floor mat is only 2 years old but it is all cracked and now chunks have broken off in the middle. This is due to my former weight. So now that I am down to 160 pounds, I may never have to replace one of these again. 2. …

I was so afraid that just having a bmi of 40.4 would not be enough but the dr said that it will be no problem with the insurance, I also am starting my 6 month diet monday april 21st, my psych eval is may 10th, my swallowing test is may 12th and my nutrition class is may 17th. I just need to get my egd scheduled and I am set. Just have to keep my bmi above 40 and I should be turning in my paper work in mid sept. And I found the greatest thing!!! I don't need to do a two pre op diet yeah I am so glad.

Hello everyone. I'm so happy to have found a sleeve forum. I'm still pre-op, don't have a date yet but just found out my insurance approved the procedure. So should be very soon. I've been a nurse for 30 years in a busy hospital and unfortunately due to my crazy busy career never took the time to take care of myself. Now that I'm pretty much disabled I have no choice but to focus on getting my life back. So I'm on this journey beginning with the sleeve. Hopefully I can soon say good bye to the 10 plus meds I take daily. I'm like a chemistry experiment. LOL. Anyway, I'm looking forward to hanging out with you guys and gals and learning alot. Thanks fo…
