Hi all, Well, I am here 5 days post op. Surgery was April 30th at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown CT. I guess my surgery was pretty much textbook according to my doctor. Had the robotic assisted surgery gastric bypass. I don't consider myself obese by any means. I was 6'2" and at my heaviest I reached 298. That was at 44 years old when I had my heart attack. Love my Dad but that's one thing I didn't want from him. I have thought about this surgery for about 2-3 years now but never pulled the trigger. Last summer, after 7 knee surgeries and being scheduled to have major back fusion surgery due to a motor vehicle accident, I was sent to a second opinion with a neurosurgeo…

I feel like I've been a stalker around here reading all about your stories and not sharing mine! In fairness, I usually check this from my iPhone, so it's not the most convenient way to post! Here's a little about me - I have always been a bigger girl - 190 when I graduated high school, 255 when I got married 5 years ago, and now at my highest weight ever - 325 (give or take 5 lbs). Over this past year I have had more "fat people problems" than I ever had in my 35 years on the planet! The knees, the back, the short of breath while walking shorter distances, nevermind the fact I couldn't even attempt to work out! I attended a weight loss seminar at Christiana Hospi…

I am 33 years old a had gastric sleeve surgery on 04/02/14. My highest recorded weight was 265lbs. On the date of my surgery my weight was 239lbs. My current weight is 223.6lbs, which I feel like I am struggling to lose. I work out 6 days a week for a little over an hour and half, but still my results have stalled. If anyone has any advice for shedding the weight please provide that to me.

Im new to the site but am glad to have joined in with so many others who have had or will have the same experience I had my surgery on April 2, 2014 and have lost 23 lbs post op, I don't know if this is common but feel like I should have lost more by now since I hardly eat. I do try and get as much Protein as I can in but its really hard for me since I get full so fast. Yesterday was my 1 month surgiversary! I was happy but with that I thought I would get more energy, I feel so tired on most days, I was brushing my hair and had to take a seat every few minutes because I felt so weak, I take my Vitamins, b12 and Calcium daily and get as much Fluid as I can get I (t…

I had my VSG done one week ago from yesterday. I did my first weigh in today and I've already lost 16 pounds! I am so excited. My knees already hurt less and so does my back. Despite the hard diet and lack of energy at times I can't wait for all the good things that are going to come!

I'd like to connect with people having lap band around the time I am or anyone who has had band over bypass. I think we can all learn from each other and be supportive since we are going through the journey together. Thanks Debra

Hey there! I had gastric bypass on 4/10 spent 4 days in the hospital with complications.... In the hospital I was excited to drink my protein shakes (I maybe had a total of 4 while I was there) but now that I am home I dread I and can't even stand the thought of protein powder it makes me want to vomit and I just can't seem to force myself to do it. Did anyone else struggle with this if so what did you do? Please help, I'm barley drinking enough water (<30oz) and no protein... I also have this feeling of fullness and pressure in my stomach that I can't seem to get rid of does anyone else have this issue? Any suggestions?

Had my surgery march 3. Gastric bypass. I've lost 20lbs so far, which is great! But all of a sudden not only have I stalled but I've gained two pounds! I want to cry and scream. I'm barely eating! And when I do eat it's beans, egg beaters, cottage cheese, etc- about 1/4 cup. And my unjury protein shakes.

I don't have anything exciting like a wedding dress to aspire to, except for a bridesmaid dress that I wore at 16, uh, 38 years ago, but that will be quite a few months from now. Today I traveled back a couple of years to some pants I wore on Jan 23, 2012. It was a much better experience than last time I wore them, when I totaled my car. I love how the years are melting away..... Tell me your stories. Where and when do the clothes in the back of your closest take you?

So, I was sleeved on April 25th. I've drank only Water since then- no juice & of course- no food. Today is the day that I begin my smoothies & nutritious drinks.. I made a smoothie this morning with only frozen fruit & water. But it made me have bad stomach pain & diarrhea. Has this happened to anyone else?!!!

Hello everyone!! I was banded April 11, 2014! I'm almost to my 3rd week! (Into solids!!) I have lost 25pounds and feeling great!! I was weighing myself everyday and when I went in to get my stapels removed my doctor scolded me for it ????.. So my hubby took away the scale! So I can only weigh myself every two weeks now. Haha! I joined because I new I would need support from other banders.. We no longer have a support group here.. Bummer!! I'm also wondering how much I should be eating? I've seen a lot of people say 2eggs with a banana and meat and cheese on the eggs for breakfast!! I don't come near eating that much! I eat one poached egg or a 1/4-1/3 of a banana with 2oz…

Wanted to share my story so others were at least aware. I got the lap band in June 2010 after trying several diets and researching the band and the gbp. I felt the band was for me. After I got my band I didn't need a fill for more than 6 mos and lost 104lbs with just the band on. Then I went for regularly monthly checkups to look for weight loss and if I needed a fill or not. 2 years ago I had such a bad pain in my left shoulder area that I thought I was having a heart attack. I went to the ER and after seeing X-rays they sent me to my surgeon because my band had slipped. No real reason was given just that "it happens". I ended up having an endoscopy to make sure no erosi…

I have been married for 5 years. When I got married I was somewhere around 245. At my highest before the sleeve I was 283. I am 2.5 months out and have lost 51 pounds. Today I decided to try my wedding dress on! It was actually a little bit loose! Kind of a fun non-scale victory! My actual wedding day 5 years ago

Feb 21st banded, recovery time done, thought I was getting it but actually I wasn't.......but this week things have really started to slot into place, I had a rather bad "stick" last weekend but was fortunate enough to have a visit booked on Monday and had a really good chat with my nurse and I had my second band fill, then attended a group session, which was the first for my area. It was great to meet other people and discuss how we we're find things. I started using a smart phone app called "eat slower" which has really helped with my eating. I also bought a hot plate to help keep my food from going cold as I keep the chew chew chew going. Both things have really …

4 weeks after surgery when I was able to start eating, I did. I gained most of the weight back that I had lost pre-op. After my 1st fill, not much change. I didn't lose weight, but I didn't gain either After my 2nd fill I lost a couple pounds, but not much. I definitely know that I'm not eating too much. I eat 3 small meals today and rarely snack (maybe 1x a week). Why am I not losing weight? I'm eating a lot of Protein and vegetables. I rarerly eat starchyfood. I don't get why the 1-2 pounds a week is not coming off like I thought it would. It's been 4 weeks since my 2nd fill and I'm going for my 3rd fill today. I'm hoping that after this I will actually start to …

I'm 5 weeks post op and I've lost 29 pounds but I feel more out of shape than I did pre-op. I walk at least 2 miles a day and am cleared for exercise next week. I'm not sure where I'm going to find the energy. I get winded walking up a long flight of steps (ball park for ex) I didn't before surgery. I eat between 450-600 cal. 70% protein, 20% fat, 10% carbs. Thoughts?

My name is Becky, I was a very active member around here back when I got my sleeve at the end of 2012. I haven't posted anything post-op and I have quite a story so please prepare to read a novel.. Everything happened super quick and easy for me, I saw Dr. Ricks (my surgeon) in early November and qualified for surgery and got my insurance approval letter shortly after that. We scheduled surgery for late December and so it began. I bought tons of Protein powder, all the Vitamins, gasx strips, mouth spray; I mean I was 100% ready. I went to the hospital on the morning of surgery and everything was picture perfect, I woke up groggy and in pain which was to be expected. Lat…

I am 3 1/2 weeks post op. Surgery was a cinch. Drs Ortiz and Martinez were top notch. Could not have been treated any better in Tijuana. My only problem is nausea. It's horrible. Worse than any morning sickness I have had with 3 pregnancies. If I'm not vomiting I feel like I want to. I can't take it anymore. I can't do my normal routines because I'm always on the verge of puking. How can I get a handle on it? Omg it's awful.

I had a great time with my son and his girl. We went to Laguna twice - what a beautiful place! Dana Point, the pier in Oceanside, the beach walk in San Clemente - all beautiful! David had duty every morning and his girl slept late so I walked the beach by myself. We went out to eat every night and I ate a lot of great sushi and delicious Mexican food - and by 'a lot' I mean variety, not quantity. I even tried soft-shell crab for the first time. I stocked my little fridge w/Greek yogurt, Atkins Protein shakes, humus, and sf Popsicles for Breakfast and lunch. I carried Quest bars in my bag for a snack, if needed (I found a nutrition store 1/2 mile from my hotel that carried…

My Dr. Scheduled me for May 8, but I haven't heard yet if my insurance approved it. I'm doing the " fast track" and have Coventry, hopefully all will go as planned. I'm nervous and excited!! Have my first support group meeting tomorrow, then next Monday I have an all day appt that includes the nutritionist, psychiatrist, a fit/ exercise person and someone else. I'm ready to lose 100 pounds, say goodbye to my CPAP machine and hopefully my hbp meds too !

Hi all, I am just wondering about how long after surgery it took before you could start exercising again? I am being sleeved on 5/28, and super excited, it's exactly 2 months after I initially saw my surgeon. This is all happening fairly quickly for me, and I've already lost 30 pounds. I've been following my doctors lean and green diet to the T (almost), but I feel like my body is responding really well to the exercising I've been doing. Tone and Core classes, I started a running group, and now aspire to be a certified zumba instructor. I know it was 6 weeks after my C-section I was cleared for moderate activity, does that sound about right? or might this be shorter. I'm …

Had my surgery on Monday (4/28). My first 24 hours were pretty sore and I experienced a lot of nausea. I got to come home last night. I am not sure if it is because I am home now, but wow I am feeling so much better. I am kind of afraid to drink too much, but am kind of just sipping away at my water. I figure tomorrow morning I will start logging everything and trying to slowly push my protein shakes. I am just so happy surgery is over and I can begin my new journey! :-)

hi, im sean im 25 years old and have struggled with my weight forever. when I was 19 I was at my heaviest weight around 445 I was in terrible shape and hated myself and didn't really care if I lived or died. so I made a decision to lose the weight, at this time in my life i was caring for my grandparents who were both ill, my grandfather of cancer, so I stayed with them and cooked cleaned and managed all their business/finances and appts. during this time I had plenty of time to eat clean and go to the gym sometimes twice a day 6 days a week. in 2 years time I managed to lose 147 lbs !! my lightest weight ever 298!! I got up today and had coffee then went our and did some running. I put liquid protein and water in a bottle and just have been drinking it. I didn't feel hungry so I haven't ate. So I went out to my yard and was working in the yard and got really hot so I came inside. Now I feel really sick! I are a couple crackers to see if that would help but it hasn't yet!! Hello everyone! I'm new to this group. My sleeve date is 5/2/14, just 6 days away. I'm definitely nervous. So, here's my question to all of the veteran "Sleevers" who've gone through surgery and suffered the ups and downs of life after being sleeved.... Knowing what you know now, would you still make the choice to do it again?
