Hey everyone ! Happy Monday! I have a slight problem. Well actually, problem(s)! I'm 6 days out, I've lost 15 pounds (which is awesome) and I've been doing well with my liquid diet but I have so much going on! I have a very sensitive body so..... 1) the Protein shakes make me feel AWFUL .,, from the taste, smell, and the nausea... Just awful! I can't tolerate them! 2) my Vitamins are chewable and make me nauseous as well. I was forced to go to GNC to purchase vitamins that I could just swallow rather than chew.... Is that horrible? 3) I went to class today and went too long without Water and I felt awful! I saw a nearby mcdonalds and got a cup of water through th…

03/19/2014 Today I decided to do the lap band surgery. I am very fortunate because my mom will be funding my success. Which means that I really need to start my lifetime change. Right now she is in a nursing home and hopefully will return home on the 24th. I have signed up for my seminar on April 10th in Lacey, Washington. 8 years ago I did research for the gastric banding because I worked for the state and they did not cover the surgery. After about 3 appeals, I was so disappointed that I just gave up. Shortly after that I quit my job at the state and decided to work at a casino. 2 weeks later the gastric bypass was offered to the state employees. Well now I am r…

I start my pre op diet tomorrow and they are expecting me to lose 30-40lbs before surgery! I'm nervous and excited about my pre op diet. I work in a group home taking care of MRDD adults and do a lot of cooking. I also cook for my boyfriend at home. I'm worried about cooking for them and not being able to eat any of it during the preop. Anyone have any tricks or tips for helping to not stray? Also are there any 20-25 pre sleevers/sleevers? I haven't found a whole lot of info on people my age (22) getting the surgery and their journey. Hope everyone is doing great! You all are looking more and more gorgeous everyday! Love following you all!

Today I had my first post-op appointment since being banded on May 6th. I have lost 21 lbs and they said for me to start eating more protein in my diet. I start mushies tonight. Any suggestions? I need all the help I can get because the protein powder nauseates me to death. Thanks friends!

My surgery was December 9, 2013. My surgeon was Dr. Shinn in Charleston, WV. Things during surgery and immediately after went as expected. After about 4 weeks I started feeling constantly nauseous and had excessive salivation. My per existing hiatal hernia flared up and my surgeon did a repair. I have not been able to overcome this problem and consequently I gave been hospitalized three times for dehydration and low potassium. I honestly try and drink and get my protein but I throw up immediately practically everything I swallow. Even water makes me nauseous sometimes. I try to sip something every few minutes. I have tried smoothies, packaged protein drinks. I h…

Hello all!! I have been a member of this site since April of 2012, when I got banded. I just popped in here this weekend for support but felt the need to really introduce myself Some of this is a repeat so please bare with me as I'm now on a computer and not a phone (I was on the road for 3 days) Prior to being banded, I spent about 2 years debating on the procedure with one year doing counseling and dieting while getting prepared - I lost 20 pounds in the time prior to the actual surgery. My surgery went good, and only few people knew I got it done. My Mom & Sister were my big supporters and my Dad still has no idea what I did. (He believes that God gave us our body…

Hi all. I am 4 weeks out today. I'm hungry all the time and I'm starting to get very upset. I take 2 pepcid a day I am on soft foods. I am getting the protein in and eating very low carb but for some reason an hour or so at we eating I'm hungry again. Do you think this will change when i go to regular foods next week? I am getting panicked. When I eat a few tablespoons and I'm stuffed but then I'm hungry. My calories are less than 900 a day, protein at least 60-70 and any carbs is coming from ricotta, shakes, cottage cheese or soft cheeses or banana. I'm confused what I'm doing wrong?

So excited to get banded the same day as my sister!, It's a journey we can do together. Although we live in different parts of the state, we can help each other along the way! I have a wonderful support group and blessed to have found this group as well! Keep us in your prayers, getting a little nervous as it is approaching quickly!

I feel like telling my story in hopes of that it will keep me motivated on my wieght loss journey. I am 33yr old male in the Cincinnati area. I have always struggled with my weight and never feeling never having confidence or feeling attractive. During college I worked at a large shipping company, it was very physically demanding. I was loosing weight but the hours and pay were not the best. Once I graduated from college I got a desk job. but sitting at a desk for several hours a day caused the weight to start piling on. After a while I could not stand to look at myself in the mirror. I tried eating healthy and dieting. I joined a gym and started going 5 days a week, b…

I'm 19 years old and got my sleeve also a month ago. Since my sleeve I have lost 24 lbs. I just went back to work on 5/16/14. I did fine on the clear liquid diet however the puréed is a huge issue for me. I throw up almost everything. I take zofran daily at least 4-6 times a day but it doesn't seem to be helping. Please share any advice you have because I'm ready to go insane!

My journey to better health 'began' May 15 when I finally went into surgery and got my sleeve Although the prep for the journey took much longer, and sometimes seemed never-ending. The bariatric center where I'd signed up to go through the procedure lost their surgeon when I was five months in, which unfortunately delayed my surgery by a few months (thankfully, Dr. Eid stepped in. He's the head of bariatrics in the medical group my hospital is a part of, and he and his partner started making trips to Erie specifically to care for the patients here that were left surgeon-less) So here I am, five days out. I had astronomical pain yesterday (I think I walked a bit too muc…

Nerves are here with a heavy hand. Feeling excited and sure that I am making the right decision but of course have lots if worries. The what if something goes wrong during surgery? What if I don't lose weight? I've taken today off work. I couldn't sleep last night and am just trying to take care of myself today. Any suggestions from those who had the day before jitters? I'm nervous that even with surgery, I won't look much better. My day of surgery weight is about 435, I started the process at 476 in January. I'm 6'. Almost 30 yrs old. Anyone in a similar bracket? Thanks everyone!

Just got my surgery date for May 22nd. I am absolutely thrilled!!! Problem is, my husband is less than supportive. Started this process last Sept, he did attend my initial surgery consult where surgeon told him how I would have to adhere to their program and make some life changes in order to be approved for surgery. This made my husband feel better as he apparently over the 13 years we've been together has not seen me "try hard enough" to lose the weight. I am not sure exactly what he expected to see by this point, but he says I have not changed anything. I disagree, although I have not lost any weight, I have gained an excellent understanding and preparation for w…

I wanted to start this thread as I think those of us with 200 plus pounds to lose have unique challenges. For one, it is going to take us a couple years to get to goal. Many of you on here have been an inspiration to me so I wanted to start a thread. In September 2013, I finally made the decision to have the surgery! I had the RNY in February 2014 and I’m on the road to successful long term weight loss! Looking back, I have been on a weight roller coaster my entire life. It started when my mom took me to Weight Watchers in 1970 when I was just 10 years old and weighed 125. I first hit 300 lbs. in 1990 and then lost 80 lbs. because I was horrified at hitting 300! Ov…

I was sleeved on 4/25. But for the past week i have been really, really hungry. For example, last nite I woke up from my sleep twice bc I was so hungry. I've learned to distinguish between head hunger & actual hunger bc I totally ignore head hunger (it's hard, but I push thru) I thought the ghrelin (the hormone that causes hunger)was eliminated when we got the sleeve. Did they forget to take my ghrelin? Is anyone else hungry?????

I had joined this forum years ago because I was supposed to have my vsg only to have my insurance deny me, I then did Optifast and lost 81lbs lost my gallbladder and then ended doing it because my health was suffering from being in protein shakes. I then did weight watchers and ballooned back up to 300lbs over this past year, I needed to do something. My current insurance covers the procedure and here I am sitting from home sleeved. It was not a hard decision. I had made my mind up in February and in march began my process was operated on last Friday May 16 2014 and discharged yesterday, I am doing well and love this new start. My surgeon told me and my parents that if I…

Basically 3ozs meat 2 ozs veggies. 3 meals a day no Snacks. So can anybody let me know if this is going to be my meal plan from now on or do I increase my meal portion weight. If so can you please give me a sample portion size meal plan that others are now on.

Hello, My name is Sara and I'm a foodaholic. Sorry couldn't resist. I am 29 years old from Mason Ohio. I have struggled with my weight my entire life. I was very active growing up. I played basketball until I was 18. That's when I started taking anti depressants and gained 90 lbs my freshman year of college. I love to be active and I miss playing sports. I decided to go the surgery route after several failed attempts at weight loss on my own. I have been pre-approved by my insurance for surgery. I have my fitness evaluation Monday, my psych eval Tuesday and my surgeon consultation Thursday. I meet with the nutritionist on June 2nd. I am really nervous because I don't kno…

In January of 2014 I made the decision to get healthy and knowing I could not do it on my own, so I attended a seminar and had my first appointment with Dr. Joyner of Americus Georgia to learn more about my bariatric surgery options. Once I heard him speak and giving the benefits I was all for it I knew I wanted to have the Gastric Sleeve, I just needed to know where to go next. I met with a nutritionist for3x during January, February, March, I also seen the psych Doctor twice once for the written assessment next to go over the assessment and talk about what got me to where I am and how I feel the surgery would help me., I had my EGD done which showed I had H-PYLORI so I …

Can someone please share with me how they are fitting the protein in? I haven't eaten in 3 days and I feel awful. I'm holding in water but I gag or vomit when I attempt to drink the shakes. The protein shakes are all too sweet and cause terrible cramps. Monday I should be starting my purée but I'm terrified that I won't be fitting in the protein my body needs. Monday makes two weeks since I've had the surgery. There was a thread on here where some women were sharing their methods and recipes but I can't find it. Please any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Today marks 3 months I decided to make a life changing decision to have gastric bypass. As of today I'm down 88 pounds. I'm over whelmed with joy. I never thought I would be able to exercise or even get on rides with my daughter. This is one decision I do not regret. Any February surgeries Holla at me would love to here how you guys are doing!
