Was looking forward to surgery and got a call from my Dr. Said they had team meeting and the anesthesiologist is worried about the success of my surgery. They think they might not be able to get tube down my throat and my heart may not take the anesthesia and I may wake up and find out they couldnt do the procedure. Now I dont know what to do. Dr wants to continue and thinks he can get me through. Any help or comments are appreciated.

My BMI is down 17.1 pts since December of 2013. I have lost 34 inches from my body and hoping to pack my CPAP unit away. The coolest is talking to pre-op and post op pts at the hospital I work at. I had the Vanguard Lap Band placed in August of 2006, I lost about 50# Pre-Op and had my surgery with Dr. Ronnie Kieth in Norman Ok. The Dr. and I were pleased that surgery went so well and were surprised I was up walking the halls almost Immediately after returning to my room. There were no complications at first, but before quite reaching my sweet spot, post operative I had to reschedule an appointment and gained 2 pounds by next appointment. Dr. Kieth's P.A. was very rude and chewed me out in front of my wife and five year old son. She told me she was not going to give me an injection this trip, after I traveled 200 miles. She told me if I came back and saw their d…

Does anyone have hypothyroid and had the sleeve surgery? Did the weight come off?
-
I had my sleeve done in September 2013. It's been 8 months since surgery and I have lost 122 pounds. I came from 350, BMI of 52 to 228, BMI 33. I walked into surgery wearing size 28 pants and a 30/32 top and today i noticed my size 18's were a little saggy in butt! I walked 4.5 miles today before I got tired and that in and of itself is a miracle! I'm so glad I made the decision to have this procedure, it has helped me so much. Though I am doing well, I struggle EVERY DAY to make good food choices. I'm (head) hungry all the time for all the wrong foods and it's a constant battle. Some days I lose, but most days I do well. My original goal was to get to the size…

Sorry I don't post much on here or really keep everyone updated on my process, successes, and struggles... Hoping to get better with that by starting a blog of sorts. Anywho... my goal is to reach my lowest goal weight within 1 year or less. Hw 293 sw 287 cw 199, at 3 1/2 months po. Some days I seem to have no motivation what so ever to workout, which is terrible and I believe the cause of my weight loss slowing down. What I'm looking for is any advice both nutritional and exercise wise from those who have been able to reach their goal within that first year. I'm hoping this will motivate me more and help to keep me positive to push forward with all of this with so much …

I just scheduled lap band surgery for June 30th with Dr. Almanza, now that its scheduled, feeling pretty nervous.
-
I just called my doctor and the office is closed for lunch. So I wanted to ask all of you supportive banders... I'm having cramps in my lower abdomen. It feels like when you drink too much water and go for a run. I know I'm not drinking enough, as I am trying to increase my intake. But I'm curious is lack of fluids causing the cramps or a defect with something?

I am so excited on how much weight I have lost so far. It has been three months and four days since my surgery and I have lost 77lbs so far. I cant weight to reach my goal weight I am looking forward to be able to shop in any store. I had gastric bypass surgery 5/23/14. I was discharged 5/25/14. I had surgery at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center. My surgeon was Dr. Roberts. I had been considering WLS for a couple of years and finally started my journey 8/19/13. I had WLS to become healthier. And to be arou d for my childrem and grand children. Today has been a difficult day. I have felt exhausted most of the day. I have had diarrhea and nausea. I went back to a clear liquid diet and have taken a couple of naps. I do feel a little better. I joined this group for support and tips along with giving others support on this weight loss roller coaster.

Hey everyone, my name is Travis. This is my first post here and the beginning of what I hope to be a very fulfilling and powerful journey to a healthier body. I guess I'll start by talking about the root of the problem and why I have decided to do this. I am currently 25, will be 26 in October, and currently sitting at 330 pounds. I have always been larger ever since I can remember and it has always been something that has been a part of my life. Thankfully I do not have any kind of health problems from my weight yet. My joints, cholesterol, and blood pressure are all fine. Obesity does not run in my family, my parents are average and my sister is a varsity cheerle…

My group classes are approaching rather quickly and once this is over I will know my surgery date . I'm so excited for this to start . I've been very nervous with my emotions all over the board from scared to happy from nervous to excited well last night I had a dream about me having the surgery and everything was fine . I know this sounds nuts but I feel like that was my body and mind giving me the ease I've been looking for . I'm 110% fully ready for this journey . I'm nervous with all the new way to learn over again but I can not wait . The count down shall begin . Good luck to May and June surgery

I'm a little over 6weeks out from surgery down 30/31lbs. I went in a little over a weeks ago and got a fill. But I'm still hungry all the time.. Snacking cause I'm hungry! I called and made another appt for Tuesday to get another fill. Is this normal before getting to the green zone? It really sucks to eat what I'm suppose to and still be hungry or hungry 20-30min later.. I felt so good and was doing great then the last 2-3weeks have been sucky cause I'm hungry!! ??

Am five years post banding and after three years, I reached my goal weight of 172 lbs. (can I have a round of applause, please? Go ahead, I'll wait!) while that may sound heavy still to some,it is the goal set by my physician and local WW leader. I lost over 170 pounds and am working hard to keep it off. My skin looks like the dog, Beethovan, with his head out a car window, but that is why I dress strategically . The surgery was the tool I needed to become healthier and more active. I no longer need blood pressure medication! I can water ski again, I love my kick boxing and spinning .,just being able to go into a room without looking for a safe place to sit is a blessing…

A few years ago I found a U2 t shirt at Old Navy. U2 is my all time favorite band, so I bought it even though I knew I couldn't fit into it. It was a very slim cut ladies' XXL, probably closer to a large in reality. I've kept it in my closet with the tags on it for over 5 years waiting for the day that I could fit into it. I tried it on when packing for our weekend trip, and it finally fit! In the words of Bono, "It's a beautiful day!"

Hi everyone, It has been a long two months! I've had a lot of up and downs emotionally especially in the first month. I haven't had any real issues other than being extra tired I think because I lost my first 30 lbs in less than 3 weeks. Now that I'm losing a little slower I'm not at tired. I'm 2 months and 2 days post op. As of yesterday I have officially lost 50lbs! Start weight 230lbs. Current weight 180lbs. I have 40lbs to my goal! -HL

Hiii everyone, i just wanted to take the time to do an update i just realized that i am 6 months post op today i was sleeved on September 10th 2013 and what can i say other than i am so thankful at the opportunity life has given me its like being reborn again. Back in July 2013 my health took a toll for the worst, that is when my doctor recommended i get Bariatric Surgery because loosing weight would be the only way 2 control my PCOS symptoms i finally decided to do something about it and went ahead and started my WL journey i was then 250 lbs my highest weight ever being 5'1 it wasn't good at all for me along with my PCOS i started having back problems, knee problems, ac…

I've been waiting so long for my approval; I'd really hoped to have my surgery this spring, but now it's Memorial Day. My doctor is available for a June 17 date, but I am due to travel for a wedding the weekend before that AND to have a friend fly in from across the country three days later. He also offered July 1, but I am out of town on vacation that day. So the next date available is July 22! Am I crazy to put it off that long? Should I just bite the bullet and do it on June 17 and be on the liquid diet for wedding and friend's visit? I am worried I'll be totally lethargic while I am hosting her and this is her summer vacation trip =( I just don't feel ri…

I am 7 months out of surgery and i am doing great physically but mentally its like a whole other playing field. Physically i have lost 106lbs but mentally it feels like i never lost the weight. I have confidence now and i know i can do things i couldnt do before but now i dont have the faith in myself to get them done. I am starting to have "cheat meals" which then turn into "cheat days" and so on. i have high moments too where i feel fantastic and i love my new body. I feel over the moon when i look at myself in the mirror and i can see curves and not "curves" i love that i can fit into my highschool dresses again without even struggling. It all feels great. but i have m…

I had surgery on Wednesday morning. I weighed myself on my home scale: 437 I have since weighed myself the last two days I have been home, both times dropping significantly. I am now 417. It is only 4 days post-op. That's 20 lbs down!? Has this happened to anyone? I'm not getting exciting or my hopes up yet...more in shock than anything.

I had got so sick and tired of my bariatric fusion drinks, but now that I'm almost 3 months out I can now add fruit. Today I added strawberries and OMG it was awesome. Before it was just a shake but with the added strawberries it was THE shake. Tomorrow I'm gonna try some bananas. I'm glad I can finally add something to it because no matter the flavor after a while they all taste the same.

I just realized I finally have less than 100 lbs to lose to get to my goal weight!!! I'm so pleased with the results of my hard work and the surgery. In my case it is not all the sleeve doing the work! I lost 35 lbs in 10 weeks before surgery and another 35 lbs in the 9 weeks since surgery. I'm thankful for the tool but do realize it's up to me to use it wisely. I haven't been this weight in 15 years. Oh, and even then I was on Jenny Craig and miserable from the tiny portions and cardboard flavored prepared meals. Loving life

Today I decided that I since I was swimming with friends I would wear a cute bikini top and a black swim skirt. At 70 lbs lost and my best feature being my waist, I felt I deserved it. Well my friends were impressed and I was content. 3 babies and a lapband and I did it. I'm not sure when I will do it again, but I did it. Hip, hip, horray.

I am 4 days post op from my sleeve surgery this past Thursday and my feelings are mixed. I feel like the whole process happened so fast. One minute I was still waiting for insurance approval and the next my surgery was scheduled for the following week. Not sure I really had time to digest what I was in store for. I spent the 6 weeks prior so focused on getting approved and then only had a week to prepare. Surgery day still feels surreal and then the day and a half in the hospital trying to recover was horrible. I had complications with the morphine and was throwing up and couldn't keep anything down. When they finally released me, I went home to an emotional roller coaste…

Hi all! I'm in the middle of the approval process, but one thing that keeps haunting me is the long term effects of this. I have asked my doctor but I feel like I get a standard answer of "anything that happens won't be worse than obesity." Is anyone familiar with what life with a sleeve may be like 10, 20, 30 years from now? If we were to develop ailments later in life, would our body be able to absorb the needed nutrients to heal?

Hi! I'm an oldie because I had lapband in 2008. I lost all my weight in 9 months and kept it off easily for 5&1/2 years. I even had gotten a tummy tuck, breast lift with aug, thigh lift and advanced lipo and then BAM my worst fear.. It failed me, it had grown in to my stomache and it had to be removed. So they took all the fluid out and I began the battle to get it out and transferred to bypass. My doctor said almost all the Lapbands are failing after 5 years ( very disappointing!) I had paid in cash for my lapband so trying to get my insurance to pay was a battle, won which I lost. Either way I had to gain 45 pounds to be eligible to get the bypass.. I have a w…

Well then, where to begin. This journey of the VGS is not the typical, spoon fed, lb of bacon 3 times a day, with a side of fried chicken as a appetizer, before every other meal. Granted my diet has not been the "best" it could be, I have had environmental influences that contributed to just eating the wrong foods for comfort and/or grazing like a cow in a pasture alone. With the upcoming birth of my first son, I want live a life with him that is full of enjoyment and excitement. While I posses a warrior mindset, I just don't look the part anymore. My build is not typical of that "morbidly obese" person. I stand 5-11 and currently weigh in at 385 pds. However I car…

Hi! I'm a 32 year old wife and mother of three beautiful children. I am pursuing Laproscopic Gastric Bypass. I've gone through the 6 month supervised diet twice, once with my primary care physician and once with a registered dietician. I have my insurance approval and am waiting for my pre op appointment and my pretesting and meeting with Anesthesia. I started having struggles with my weight as a teenager. I put on over 100 pounds in one year due to medication, and continued to gain weight steadily over the years. I have tried so many things during the years to lose weight, including participating in medical studies, diet efforts, exercise efforts, group weig…
