So my bucket list was pretty boring and simple before I even thought I would be able to lose weight! I hoped for common things like: Getting out of debut Advance in my career get my dream car blah blah blah But now that I have started dropping some lbs I feel inspired and I now dream of doing sooo much more like: Finally learn to swim (i was never comfortable enough to wear a bathing suit or want someone to have to carry my fat behind out of the Water if I drowned) I want to take a pole dancing class Travel overseas (not seat belt extension) run a marathon ride a rollercoaster (before I could never fit into the seats of the seat belts were too small) My list goes on…

Hi my name is Liz and I had my surgery back in 2006. And to be completely honest with you, I've regretted it ever since.the sleeve wasn't available at the time so I don't know what can be done. Let me start from the beginning. I was 5'6 310lbs diabetes, high blood pressure. Cholesterol thyroid, you name it I had it. Then I was approved for the surgery, and so thrilled. In the beginning it was great, I was losing weight feeling healthy and I was back in shape better than ever. Then I started to notice something, I was eating more than usual and wasn't gaining any weight. I didn't think anything of it at first but the weight just started falling off of me like crazy. It was…

I am going through a phase of why can't I lose faster, why did I do this, I want to eat a big fat sub sandwich but can't!! I know in my heart I did the right thing but sometimes I get so down on myself. Similar feelings to pre-op when I felt stuck in my fat body and wanted to make changes but never could stick to anything! I guess I thought this surgery would transform my body & mind. Well, my mind is still my worst enemy. I know I am losing and I try to keep a sense of humor about everything but I get sick of the question..."How much have you lost??" I don't even want to talk about it! Does anybody else go through this?

I've seen lots of folks on here post before and after pics. Tonight, on a whim, I decided to make one to see if I see more of a difference than I see in the mirror on a daily basis. Holy cow!!! I can't believe the difference! Of course, I know I've lost weight and I know I'm back in clothes that I haven't worn in years. I definitely recommend doing a before and after! I have been on pre op diet for 2 weeks but in the last 2 days I am very hungry on the 2-3 shakes and 1 meal. I am emotional and starting to question my decision. I believe part of the problem is adjustment of insulin, no caffeine, and very tired. My surgery is June 10, next Tuesday. I can't imagine the 2 days of liquid only on Sunday and Monday.

My one year anniversary is coming up on 12 June. I'm down 178 pounds. I want to post pictures on Facebook (something I NEVER do of myself) but am torn about telling people about the surgery. There are literally only about a dozen people that know I've had surgery. My own mother and siblings don't know. I don't lie about it, I tell the truth if asked directly (which I have been ). What are y'all's thoughts? Do you "fly the flag" or are you discreet about it? I'm not ashamed - it's one of the smartest things I've ever done. It's just that I have worked VERY hard and I see how people act about weight loss surgery as it's some form of cheating or taking the "easy way ou…

My highest weight was 354. Spent years going up and down. 7 months before surgery I was 315, surgery date 8/7/2013 I was 273..As of today I am 192..How much more do I have to lose before they will remove excess skin, it's a LOT..Do they go from the surgery date or do they count total weight lost?

Hello everyone. My name is Erin and I am excited to say in one week I will be having my gastric sleeve surgery. I have wanted this surgery for over 10 years but only recently found out that my insurance covered it. Once I knew that I would be covered I jumped on the opportunity and now I'm here one week out from surgery. Last night I was lucky enough to find this app for my iPhone. Now I think this is the best way to spend my week before surgery reading stories, getting inspiration, and getting even more excited for the new life I have ahead of me. You guys are some really amazing people and I can't wait to share my experience with all of you. For those who recent…

This app seems to be a great resource for those of us who have taken the step towards a healthier life via bariatric surgery. I'd love to learn from and meet others in the Jackson, MS area that are on this same path to help guide me through what is yet to come. I am also curious as to advice from other guys that have taken this step but any and all help is most welcome!! I am 31 years old and have spent my whole life as a rather large guy. I'm the only overweight person in my family and after two years of preparing, dieting, exercising, studying, etc., I am two days post-op. I am very excited and want to learn and discuss advice on expectations, exercise and eating habi…

Hello Everyone! I am a 45 year old mother of 2 teenage daughters who has been married now for 19 years. I have been overweight the majority of my life but back in the day they just called it 'Big Boned'. I started my first serious attempt to lose weight at the age of 18 by attending Weight Watchers meetings. When I started I must have weighed around 195 lbs and I managed to lose 40 lbs but even at that weight I was just shy of what they considered to be the HIGH end of my ideal, Lifetime Goal weight. I never could get off the last 5 lbs so I ended up quitting without making "Lifetime" status. Since then I have been on a roller coaster of ups and downs with regard t…

Anyone thinking about lap band surgery MUST do all their own homework before jumping into surgery. My experience is only mine, of course, so everyone will have a different outcome, opinion, and experience. After almost one year with the lap band, here's what I've found. First, DO NOT go into this thinking it's the answer to all you problems and the weight is going to drop off overnight with no hard work from you. Not gonna happen. My feeling after 11+ months is this.....had I known then what I know now, I would never have gone through with lap band surgery. I'll explain.. You have to be able to diet even with the lap band. You have to stop eating junk and DO NOT expe…

My journey started when I felt unable to regulate my weight. I had tried various diets but nothing worked and my will power was terrible. I had heard all about gastric banding and felt it would be worth trying. I contacted a very reputable company and met with one of their staff in Glasgow, and she commented that I was suitable for banding and it would be done in their clinic in England. I was also told that if I chose one doctor in particular, there would be no scarring as he would do it lapriscopily. I liked the sound of that, so went ahead and booked it, putting down a large deposit. I was given thing to do prior to the surgery and then travelled down to England …

Back Story: When I was ten, I was put on medication that I ended up going toxic on and it almost totally killed my metabolism and my weight shot up to over 120 - before then I was maybe 45 lbs (very short and petite). Since then I've steadily put on weight In 2010 I decided to try and control my weight through various diets and exercise - never losing more then 10lbs through out each before stalling and gaining the 10 lbs back. Since 2010 I've weighed between 230 -240 mostly at the high end. fast forward to late December of 2013 when mom heard about a bariatric seminar being held at a local hospital and encourage me and my dad to go check it out and see if it was all …

Hi everyone. First I'd like to take a moment to tell everyone how encouraging and helpful you have been. And good job on All the weight loss...very inspiring. This is my first time posting but I've followed the threads for months. I'm scheduled for my band on June 23 and am very excited. Wondering how to deal with my best friend who is so unsupportive and negative about me getting the band. Hoping maybe you guys can help and any/all advice is welcome. My best friend is overweight as well and we both have been each others poison when it comes to food. Our friendship revolves around going out to eat, mainly Chinese buffets at least once a week. Hello everyone. I just had surgery with the lap band May 23. First three days were a struggle and slightly painful. I couldn't operate without my pain meds. I constantly felt a tightening in my chest. Now on my 4th day I feel better just extremely full of gas. I'm constantly burping and other stuff ????. I'm so worried as I want to do this right, considering this is something I've researched and thought about for 8 years before doing it. As of now I can't see any weight loss not sure if my stomach is still swollen but I'm going to purchase a scale later today. Please help me figure why there's so much gas and bloat on my stomach and please share if this happened to you.

Hi all, I wanted to introduce myself to the community. My name is Jez. I'm a 32 year old female from the NY/NJ area. I had my first appointment last July, but since I'm prone to impulsive decision making, I took a year to decide on surgery and finally agree to move forward with the Lap Band surgery. I went back to my surgeon's office yesterday and my surgery is now scheduled for July 14th. I'm 5'6 and 226 lbs. 40 of which were added in the last year and a half as a result of anti depressants...which were prescribed to me because of my issues with weight!! Totally counter productive. I spent all of my teen years and college in good shape. Then I started to …

Posting mainly for support as I'm having a rough go of sleeping at the moment First time poster and new to the forum. I was banded yesterday morning and, after about six hours and an immediate loosening of my band, I was sent home. I've followed all procedures as expectations and, as a whole, feel extremely positive about my choice. However, it's currently 4 a.m. and I am still living on the 'pain and nausea cocktail' every for hours. At what point did your stomach pain and nausea begin to subside? Any good tips or tricks for sleeping (and staying sleep) while I heal? I lost ten pounds in the two week pre-op appointment and I'm excited to see what the next free d…

I'm 11 days post op and starting to feel normal again (thank god!!!) I'm anxiously waiting for Wednesday when I can start including eggs, fish and canned veggies to my diet. I can actually cook a meal! I'm a little frustrated cause I feel like I'm not taking in enough food to maintain my energy but for the last 2 days I haven't lost any weight.. In fact I gained .5. Here is what I had yesterday. Protein shake for Breakfast that had a low fat yogurt, a banana and 3 strawberries cottage cheese around 1230 3/4 a sugar free pudding around 4 Slice of reduced fat American cheese and cottage cheese around 530. I drank plenty of fluids. If I'm not losing with only that going…

Still a little sore but I have walked every day further than the day before. My biggest problem is getting enough of the protein shakes in me. I get my morning one down with no problem. But I struggle the rest of the day. Also since I have been drinking my water but can't get rid of this nasty film and taste in my mouth. If anyone has any advice please share. I'm just starting to feel a little hungry. Can't wait for the next stage.

Hi everyone, i found it important to let the world know and I will find any site I can to warn people about a service site I went through and the doctor I used. I am not new to going to Mexico. On June 2010 I went to Dr. Rodriguez and I had the lapband put in. Great job with everything and I was happy with the service. I lost 129 pounds in a year and then started toning my body from there. On March 2013 I went to Dr Suerez for a body lift, breast augmentation, eye lift and ear lobe correction. Everything went great and awesome service there as well. So now comes the warning!!! I on May 3rd 2014 went through a Agency called WeightLossAgents. I talked to them about la…
