I am going through a phase of why can't I lose faster, why did I do this, I want to eat a big fat sub sandwich but can't!! I know in my heart I did the right thing but sometimes I get so down on myself. Similar feelings to pre-op when I felt stuck in my fat body and wanted to make changes but never could stick to anything! I guess I thought this surgery would transform my body & mind. Well, my mind is still my worst enemy. I know I am losing and I try to keep a sense of humor about everything but I get sick of the question..."How much have you lost??" I don't even want to talk about it! Does anybody else go through this?

Don't give up, you're not alone our minds can be our worst enemy. When did you have surgery and how much have you lost so far? I'm 8 months out I've lost 93# my weight is stuck at 162-164 I'm often at war with my mind. I remind myself that this is not a race, if I get off track I pick myself up and start over. You got this!

Good news is you are 100% normal!!! I went through that stage as well, and it did not last too long.

Your brain can be your worst enemy. In fact I like to think of mine as being a two year old with the terrible two syndrome. I want it now!!! I want it now!!! If I don't get it I am going to scream. Well our brains scream in different ways now. First they scream about wanting real food. Then it gives you your first stall, and finally it realizes that this is a new life style and goes with the program. However every once on a while the brain try's to scream again and as any good parent you tell your brain you are the boss not the two year old!

Good luck!!!

I had surgery 3/31/14 and I've lost 54 pounds. It's funny cause it's the same thing I would go through on weight watchers (I'm a lifetime member!) I would get frustrated and give up (when I was younger I lost 90lbs on WW but gained it back plus after my 15 year old son was born). I can feel those defeated feeling creeping in but I'm not sure why! I am doing OK. Like I said...my mind is my worst enemy!! I need to be more involved in these message boards to feel a part of this community. I think that will help. Thanks for posting!

Your brain is just trying to get you to go back to bad habits. In the past feeling upset about how much you had lost always got your brain a cheeseburger or candy bar. Just realize this will pass, and that you can overcome it!!

I don't have any sage advice but I had to giggle at your post because I've seen more than one person on the boards craving a "big fat sub sandwich"! I'm sure that's going to be on my crave list after surgery because I sure love them now! :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
