I was sleeved on June 4th. I have had a pretty easy recovery so far. No vomiting or other complications. I had my 2 week appt yesterday and am down 17 lbs. The pain from incisions got so much better around day 10. I are too much at dinner last night and it was like having a brick in my chest for a few hours. It was an awful feeling and almost wanted to throw up but I was too scared to do that. Noticed I ate a lot less today just because I was afraid of overeating. On the mushy phase now but my NUT said I could advance to soft foods if I felt like I was ready for it sooner than 2 weeks from now. Feeling a bit more tired this week but also getting sick of staying home so m…

This story has a beginning, but the end is still nowhere in sight. I am the oldest of three kids. My mother is one of those breathtaking, exotic beauties that you just can't help but admire. My father was a handsome man—full of life. We were adorable children—happy and content. I looked like my Dad, but was starting to look like Mom every day. The happiness didn't last. When Dad left, depression took over and I had no one to talk to besides my siblings, who were too young to confide in. That's when my brother and sister and I discovered how comforting food was. Through the years my body grew out as well as up, and I noticed something. My brother and sister where growi…

I am five weeks post op and now allowed to have three ounces of solid protein. When I eat solid protein I get bad pain in my stomach. I contacted my surgeon and he said it sounds like I have a narrowing in my sleeve. He said that he needed to stretch the sleeve. Has anyone had this done or had pain after eating a small amount of food? I have lost just over 50 lbs in five week's so that part is great. I am more nervous about the stretching of the sleeve than I was about the surgery.

Hi guys, my physician is going to put me on a two-week liquid diet prior to surgery. I've seen some folks on here who only did that diet for a few days. Not complaining. Just wondering about others' doctor's requirements, how much weight you lost pre-op, and if anyone has any guidance for me. Thanks!

Hi all! I was just banded yesterday and I am in so much pain! The gas pain in my left shoulder and all across my abdomen are really worse than I imagined they would be. The hospital sent me home with children's paracetamol Really excited about the band but having a hard time staying focused and positive with all the pain with every movement. Fingers crossed it will go soon. I haven't had much appetite, though, is it normal at this stage? Thanks everyone x

I am 63 years young, and after thinking about and worrying about my weight since like, 4th grade; I finally decided to do something about it. Over the years I had tried every possible weight loss program, Jenny, WW, hypnosis, the list goes on and on. Also, I had spent $$$ on each of these weight loss options. My husband and I are retired and live in Rosarito, BC, Mexico (we love it here), at our regular Friday night pizza gathering with friends I met a new friend who mentioned that if we had met her a year ago we would recognize her as she had lost 95 pounds! I couldn't stop thinking about the possibility of getting a VGS, so after a few months I got her email and a…

Today I went to a small water park. I didn't feel tired the entire time. I actually fit in the inner tube. I was able to walk up and down stairs and didn't feel tired at all. The suit I had last summer was super loose. I need a new one. I could really tell my chest has shrunk. When I got out of the water that part of the suit looked like a deflated balloon.

I intend to do mostly cardio using the elliptical and treadmill and bike. not so much the weights. I want to go down to 140lbs. I think that would be ideal for me because they say one year out you gain 15 percent of the weight back. So I want to continue to be a 30 waist. Im 5'8" tall so I think that is healthy for me.

Right before the seminar I learned that my employer would be changing insurance companies on July 1st. So, I had to hit the ground running. I had my primary care physician send in the documentation that I'd been trying to lose weight (again) with phentermine, low carb, etc. for the last year. I got all my appointments in- nutrition class, psych eval, Upper GI, Endoscopy, and EKG and Treadmill test. I passed everything- I've been very blessed with good health but my back and knees have been giving me issues and I decided enough is enough. I don't want to take …

My daughter is 21 and wears a size 4 and I think I have made her so health conscious that she is constantly on a diet and eating salads and eliminating meat because she doesn't want to look like me....My highest ever has been 16/18 18 tops and 16 bottoms. My lowest has been a size 8 bottom 10 top so she has NEVER seen me small. When I was in highschool I wore 7/8 thru 9/10.

The bigger I got, the less likely I was to wear a dress, until I just gave them up entirely. I was sleeved about six months ago, and got brave enough to buy a few summer dresses at a discount. Yesterday, for a doctor's appointment was the first time in NINETEEN years that I have worn a dress! It made me feel really feminine and put a smile on my face. Wow. What a difference a piece of fabric makes. I had no idea that it would feel like such a big deal, and my legs are looking good. It is these occasional NSVs that keep me going.

Ready to lose it and keep it off!!! I am definitely on a budget and could use tips on surgeons and locations. I have been researching Mexico Medical Tourism, but State Department warnings are scaring me. I have no one who can go with me at this time, and I do not speak enough Spanish to communicate easily. I am at the ER with horrible abdominal pains. I came here because my doctor can't see me till next week so she told me to go here and at least get a GI cocktail and get some tests. Well the results of the tests is I have multiple gallstones and some in my bile duct and my liver levels are high. So they admitted me and are removing my gall bladder soon! I am so relieved to finally have an answer to why I'm in so much pain. Hopefully this will help ease my back pain too. I'm definitely not prepared for this, though. I'm almost one year out from sleeve and have lost 130 pounds. I guess the gallstones are common after weight loss.
