Last day of week one and I am finally feeling like I can keep liquids down. I have been back to the hospital twice since surgery for IV Fluids... Why doesn't anyone ever say how hard it's going to be to train our new pouch to tolerate having anything in it?? My biggest gripe is the lack of liquids. Before surgery it wasn't nothin to drink 100's of ounces of liquids in a day. I can't wait to be able to take normal drinks of water or juice again Lol I will feel so much better when that day comes. I'm still not hungry but I'm dying of thirst! Anyone have any stories or advice? Maybe you have been through this already?

Hi! On May 15th, I had my 1 year bariatric birthday. I lost 130 pounds by January and have maintained within 5 lbs, for 3 months. This surgery needs to be a personal choice for everyone, but I believe that it literally saved my life. I am an RN and nursing instructor, and I was walking with a cane and barely getting through each day. My quality of life was pretty much non-existent. I had hypertension, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, pre-diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, gastric reflux, hypothyroidism and fibromyalgia. I was a wreck at 52 years of age! Since the surgery, I went from 7 medications to 2, and no longer have gastric reflux, sleep apnea, pre-diabete…

3 weeks ago I had my lap band removed and had the sleeve procedure done. It's been great so far. Still trying to figure out what I can eat and not eat. I am down 18 pounds! The band was not a good tool for me. I take too much medication (i have MS) and it would get clogged. So, I was in for unfills and fills and unfills and fills. Then it slipped.

After dealing with being overweight for so many years, I never thought that I would be looking forward to that day that I feel comfortable in my skin again so much.

  14. So I'm curious for all of those who are married or have significant others - what is the best way for them to support you during your gastric sleeve process? My husband is very excited for me and wants to be there as much as he can in any way that he possibly can. Does anyone have any experiences that would be helpful for him to relate to?

You know the song....Tell me how I'm supposed to breathe with no air... That is my life's theme song lately. Well, every time I eat I get severe chest pain from trapped air. My nutritionist, surgeon and family doctor say it's all related to me swallowing air when I eat or drink. I had hiatal hernia repair with my VSG. My decision was not an easy one to make. I was always the "Fat, Fluffy, Happy, Woman" but then I began having "female" pain. I have had several procedures but unable to have a hysterectomy because of my weight. So my GYN gave me a proposal....if I lose 100 pounds....hysterectomy. Then I got to thinking - I've always wanted to be able to: 1. buy clo…

  20. Ok, y'all. I just got home a few hours ago after 30 hours at ValleyCare Medical Center in Pleasanton, CA. Most of my stomach is missing, but I think the surgeon might have left a bulldog puppy inside me, because why does my stomach sound like it's snoring?!?! Seriously...there are some extremely weird noises coming from that region. So, a little info about my surgery, in case it can help anyone else out. NIGHT BEFORE: I have been on a clear liquid diet for 2 days. The night before the surgery I put the scopolamine patch behind my ear. I didn't drink anything after midnight, knowing that my surgery was at 10 AM the next day. At 7:00 AM Friday, I took "Emend", a…

I am currently band to sleeve since 4/2014 and noticed the same thing. I can barely take one no more than 2 bite and I am full and my stomach feel tight.

As anyone experienced a lap band slip? If so, what were your symptoms? Lately I have been having a very odd pain/pressure feeling near my largest scar (near my band). I haven't experienced this pain/pressure before. I am able to eat solid foods, but I am having some nausea. I have had some heartburn (nothing serious) that is easily treated with a Prilosec or a few Tums. I have a tendency to be a bit of a hypochondriac, but I do not want to let something go untreated and get worse. I have read that band slip symptoms can include nausea, vomiting, acid reflux, pain and trouble tolerating food and liquids. Since I am experiencing some of these symptoms, I am nervous th…

I was banded on March 18, 2013 - over a year ago. I remember when I was thinking about having the surgery, I was obsessed with the speed... I had upcoming events (weddings, vacations, etc.) and I continued imagining what I would look like in 3 months, 6 months, etc. I was so frustrated and disappointed as I read on this site about everyone just dropping weight left and right. I lost about 20 pounds pre op (and so my real starting weight was about 240) and then another 10 or so in the first 6 months. I had fill after fill after fill... I took small bites and ate high Protein, but I was still pretty hungry and could eat 1.5 cup portions without a problem. So, I read - these…

I was that skinny kid growing up that could eat anything. Getting pregnant was like flipping a switch. Each year, I gained more weight until reaching my highest today at 263. I have tried Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Nutrisystem, diet pills, Vitamin shots and even denial. None have worked for me. I have a BMI of 42.4. My inner skinny girl is anxious to come out! After extensive research, I am considering the sleeve gastrectomy. So far, I attended a seminar. My appointment with the surgeon is June 18. Looks like my insurance …

I bought a shirt at the store last weekend. It was in the regular section so I didn't know if it would fit. I held up the XL and thought it fit. Got home and I was swimming in it! Went back and tried on the medium. It fit well but the bust area looked odd the way it was cut because I'm still a D. So I got the L and it looks good even though its a bit big. Unbelievable! I also lost three inches under my bust and I'm having to use the inner clasp. I'm putting off getting new bras as long as I can. …
