I had my post op appt today with my surgeon. I am down 19 lbs from my last pre op visit. He is very pleased with my progress. I am currently in the waiting room waiting to see my dietician and may be able to move on to the next diet stage. :-)

I am sure this topic has been hashed out over and over and over again but this board is HUGE and I get overwhelmed going from subtopic to subtopic. lol After the surgery and losing weight...are you happier and do you have more energy? I am much happier when I am thinner. I am miserable and I make excuse after excuse as to why I can't go places with friends. I don't take pictures with my family, etc. I love to exercise and I don't even do that anymore because I am embarrassed to be seen in workout clothes.

So, my surgery is in four hours. 5:30 am 14 May. I really should be resting, but I can't. First, I got up 2:00am 13 May for the nine hour to the hospital. I slept for three hours, and been up since then. I been trying relax, but I can't do it. I'm a little anxious, because of excessive scare tissue, it might not be done. However, I'm sure what to expect if it is. Like, why I'm I really doing this? I fought for over a year w/insurance and being in compliance, now it's here and I'm questioning myself. Has anyone else had these random thoughts prior to surgery? Guess I'll try to rest for four hours, please post any comments. Thank you, VAMP

My name is Becky and I'm a regular in the Gastric Sleeve forums. I had a sleeve in December 2012 and immediately after surgery developed dysphagia and have not been able to swallow anything other than pudding and ice cream in 1.5 years. I haven't lost any weight partly because I eat stuff like ice cream and pudding all day, partly because I have zero metabolism, partly because I get zero Protein therefore have zero energy therefore sleep all the time. It sucks, badly so finally I'm taking a big step and revising to a bypass. The surgeon swears it will stop the pain and minimize the achalasia which can lead to cancer. I'm totally scared though, all I hear about is malabsor…

My throat is killing me, my body aches all over, I have no energy, and I'm losing my voice now. With being sick I have been forcing myself to eat a d drink because I'm not really hungry at all. My weight is going up a couple oz each day. I'm assuming it's because I'm not exercising. Does anyone have any tips or tricks that may help me continuing to lose weight during the this process or help with getting over this so I can have the energy to exercise. I don't want to stall my weight loss and be lectured by my Dr and boyfriend. Any advise would be gre…

  15. I'm scheduled for surgery June 4th. I honestly thought this day would never come. After 4 years, I have a surgery date. One of my biggest fears is feeling sick after surgery (after healing). Many times people feel bad or a just stay sick. My other fear is..will I regret this? Any tips or past experience would be very helpful.

I'm only 2 days into my gym experience (2wks postop) so of course I'm taking it easy. I go at my own pace and am looking forward to building up my stamina and maybe one day actually being able to run on the treadmill. Until that day come I'll continue to walk lol.. Hey something is better than nothing!

Ok so lately... As in the last couple of weeks... I've been waking up about 45 minutes after dozing off to sleep and throwing up. I've even started keeping a trash can bedside because it happens so fast. It's not food... I'm almost wondering if I'm frothing from a later dinner than normal and laying down is causing the reaction. This morning my sweet hubs brought me breakfast in bed and I dozed back off after eating only to have it happen yet again. Now killer acid reflux. None of the foods are the same. Thought it was possible the vitamin I took close to bedtime until it happened again today. Any thoughts?

Also today I had some gas come back into my shoulder which I haven't had since day 2. Just a little alarming.

Hi everyone! My name is Amanda and I had my gastric bypass on March 17. Since then I have lost 27 pounds, but have definitely sloooowed down. I made the decision for gastric bypass since I started gaining weight 7 years ago after being diagnosed with bipolar disorder. The medications put so much weight on me and it has been really hard to lose. Now, I have found a medication that has worked and have been stable for sometime! For the first time I am looking forward to the future!

When I went for surgery on February 20, I weighed 258. I'm down to 220. My last appointment. I lost 14 pounds. I currently have 4 ccs in my band. I work out five days a week. Sometimes with a personal trainer. I feel amazing. I still do not eat bread pasta rice and potatoes. I tried to allow myself to cheat meal every now and then as opposed to a whole cheat day so I don't derail myself. The only thing I love more than great food, is people telling me how good I look since I've lost so much weight. It is not easy. Don't ever l…

Hey. I had my WLS on April 11,2014.My Presurgery weight was 287. I did sugar busters for 1 week. My weight, day of surgery, was 284. It's exactly 4 weeks later, and I've lost 22lbs. I'm not sure if thats good or not. I'm in mushie/soft food stage. I've REALLY been craving sweet stuff, which I haven't given in to, but I'm dreaming about it. Lol. I've read great info from other threads on here. I thought this would be great source of encouragement and ideas. Looking forward to the WLS outcome.

I mean I've been drinking soups mainly the broth and dibbed a lil on some chips oh and the worst .... About 5 days ago I went our to eat and ate a lot... So I have lost 20lbs since surgery... It's been slow but I think things are going to improve from here my nutritionist explained it can take a few weeks for your liver to get back to normal, and also because I lost like 10lbs in the first week my body has been playing catch up ! So yeah let's hope things start moving now. I am officially allowed solid foods again, though I am not really sure what that is I just take it to mean I can eat pretty much anything ( within reason no high fat foods of course) , I will admit food is causing me to have a melt down quite often, I can't eat very much and I miss so much.. 45. In 2009 I got Lap Band and lost 150 lbs in about 2 years but wasn't getting enough nutrition and became anemic. I got the band loosened and got healthy again and maintained. Then I got pregnant and had the band loosened and after I gave birth to my son we discovered my stomach had slipped up into the band and now the band was travelling. Throughout all of this time I was damaging my esophagus too. So, on May 8, 2014, 3 days ago, I had the Lap Band removed and converted to a gastric sleeve.
