I'm going to Cali in six days to visit my son at Camp Pendleton, who is recovering from an injury. He shattered his leg in a training exercise last October and had two surgeries, plates and screws. His ankle is frozen from months of being immobilized and he needs physical therapy to get motion and strength back. His doc says he should be back to normal by the end of the year. He asked us to come visit him and meet his girl. My hubby can't go because he just started a new job so I'll be going by myself. The only time I ever left New England was when we went to his graduation at Parris Island a few years ago. And I've NEVER been away from my husband in all our 35 years …

Hi, I'm at the beginning of this process. So far I've watched 1 informational video from a local surgeon, Dr. Anita Courcoulas, and read a little on the internet, and that's about all I know. After finding this site today, I followed a link to the vertical sleeve site, and was confused and dismayed to see so many people there complaining about the LAP-BAND®® and claiming that the VS was the better way to go. The only thing I'm sure of is that I'm not interested in the RNY. Since I live in a city known for medical expertise, I think I can rely on the surgical practice I picked; they're experienced. I filled out a questionaire and someone from the office called and…

I am feeling great about myself. I am 2 weeks and one day out. Since my sleeve on 4.16.14, I am down 24 (including the fluids from the hospital). Pre op 30lbs. In total I am down 45lbs (excluding fluids). I never post pics but today I'm feeling great. I do 3 miles a day, and of course my Protein shakes. This opportunity is truly amazing. Can't wait to see my family's face on mothers day, haven't seen them since thanks giving. Ready for summer!!!!

My name is Chris and I am an 42 year old male who has battled weight as long as I can remember. As I have aged my weight has really slowed me down. I am just at that point of being pissed for allowing this to hold me back for so long. I have been aware of these procedures for years as I am an operating room nurse. Maybe ignorance is bliss when it comes to surgery. I am having my sleeve on April 17. I am very excited and honestly fearful of this journey but it is one I have to do. I am blessed to be having surgery in an operating room I run and at a hospital of friends. It is great reading the stories of others and not feeling so alone in this issue.

At one point I was at 179 but started to gain weight and I'm almost back to 200. It scares me! I've been through too much to go back. Emotional eating and time have been my two biggest problems. I don't know where to start to get back on track. Someone please help!

Howdy, I had a lap-band years ago but did not have a support system so I was not able to lose much weight. I also encountered some problems so I gave up trying and had the saline removed. I have moved to a new area with good support. I had an endoscopy this week and everything is all right for me to start again. I get my first fill on Tuesday. Yeah! The Time is Now.

I lost 50 pounds with the band then stopped losing. Not sure I will have the support of my teenage kids... they worry about me bc they have seen all the problems I have had with the band... (frequent vomitting, pain, ulcers, etc) I worry they will just want me to get the band out!!!!

I guess with all the normalcy around me, I forgot that I had just had surgery & put a forkful of tomato basil pasta in my mouth.... When i swallowed I IMMEDIATELY remembered, bc it severely HURT going down. I got so SCARED. The noises my stomach was making sounded like a garbage truck! I was pain for about 2 hours, from ONE forkful of pasta. Has this happened to anyone else?

Hey there. It's Thursday night and I'm coming up on my fourth night being sleeved. My surgery was Monday morning. It's crazy how much you go through and prepare and understand everything "in theory" but in actuality it is so much more mind blowing than you realize. At least for me. I had a rough first night. It was my first experience with pain medication and I was reacting very poorly to it. There were moments of severe doubt and fear that I had gone ahead and done something terrible. But once I left the hospital, was able to shower at home and sleep in my own bed for a night, I felt exponentially better. And every day since has been better and better. I know it's only w…

Tomorrow marks 6 weeks for me. I'm down 34 lbs and loving life (217 to 183). I spent some time this weekend cleaning out the closet and I already have 4 bags going to Good Will. Fortunately I have some smaller sizes that I never got rid of so I have some things to shrink into, but not much. Another 15 lbs and I'm going to have to shop. If someone would have told me late last year that in 4 months I would be feeling this good and having to purchase smaller clothes I would have laughed at them. I'm proud of myself for taking this step to improve my life. I'm down from a very tight 18 to a very loose 16, down 2 meds. with more energy then I've had in years. Here's to …

Hi everyone I had gastric bypass in Perth WA in 2005. My first few days after surgery were fine but I could only tolerate Water and little bit of orange juice. I went home 1 week later but started to feel unwell with pain in left shoulder. 3 days after the pain started I was in agony so went back to hospital and was given injection for pain but it did nothing. I was sent for a scan and they found that I had abceses internally. I had student doctors trying to insert a drain but it kept going the wrong way so then I had to have it done under a ct scan. After being readmitted to hospital I was there 1month when I demanded from the surgeon to open me up and see what was go…

Struggling with this as I do quite a bit of physical labor. I'm hoping this improves as the week goes on. My biggest concern about the surgery is my insatiable desire to drink. I always have Water on hand and I am concerned that following surgery I will be constantly thirsty. should I be? Any tip or advice is appreciated. Thanks
