My surgery was on 4/30, so I am only 10 days post op. I've noticed how people have done in the first few weeks and was amazed at the huge weight loss. This is not the case for me. As of yesterday I had only lost 4.4 lbs, and this morning I am back up 1 lb. I have followed my Dr's Pre Op diet and now Post Op diet to the letter, so now I just need to sit back and trust the process. I did lose 51 lbs since November, which was when Pre Op dieting began, including a 2 week liquid diet prior to surgery, and I am ecstatic about that! This also means I didn't have a lot of Water weight left to lose during Post Op, but it sure would be nice to see a big jump in the scale a…

Three years ago this time I was in the operating room and my friendship with Leonida, my band, was starting. During the first year I lost 52 kilos, which is something between 100 and 110 lbs, if I am not wrong.. During the second year I started losing part of my strong motivation and,by the end of the second year and the beginning of the third, I had gained back 10 kilos. Bariatric Pal is helping me come back on track, your approach to weight loss connected to wls is a bit different and many of the suggestions I have read here are becoming part of my life and behaviour. Thanks to all of you!!!

Have to say it's been pretty easy so far. I'm on full liquids and I agree with someone else's post I love the choc Costco premier shakes. I have 1/4 cup up to 4 times a day. I'm loving trader joes low fat tomatoe soup and apple sauce. I'm having a hard time not gulping down water. I feel like I'm eating all the time. I've lost 10 pounds already. I'm wondering if anyone else has bad breath? Also how about having sex again? How long should you wait?

Anyone else from Houston, Texas with a similar surgery date? I'm excited, and a little terrified of the surgery part. How long did it take everyone to go back to work?? I had planned to go back day 7 post op. Is that too soon? My doc said as long as it's very light activity it should be fine.

I don't see much about this topic in forums. I'm looking to connect with like minded people or discuss these interests with anyone else interested. I envision my new life with lots of clean eating, organic whole foods, meditation, rebounding, yoga, spending time in nature, oil pulling, juicing, dry brushing, etc. I've already dabbled in it over the years, but want to take it much more seriously (although not too seriously) - if that makes sense to someone, we are kindred souls and I'd love to connect. :-)

Hi all, I am glad i finally found a place to share my story. I started back in Nov of 2013-"YES!" the doctor said. "you are a candidate for lap-band". I have a 32 bmi. But they said they could do it because of my high blood pressure and depression. So my journey begins. i start off with a psych eval. Which i passed with flying colors. Now i need to do 6 months of nutritional counseling. Okay, i can do that. In between i need to do a sleep study which will be done at a facility 1hr and 45 min from my home. Okay, i can do that. Went for the sleep study, i now have sleep apnea. 2 weeks later i need to do another sleep study so they can fit me with a machine to sleep wit…

Can't believe my surgery date is coming so soon. I've been thinking of weight loss surgery for about 5 years now. I decided 2014 would be my year. I've done a three month health plan with my surgeon and dietician, as required by my health insurance. I was approved within days and received the call today for the 21st. For the past three months, I was expecting sometime in June, but feel excited, relieved and nervous that it is so soon. I've lost 34 lbs since Jan 7 and will try to lose about 5-7 more before surgery. My starting weight is about 450. I'm 6' and turning 30 in June. I'm nervous I won't be able to lose enough for it to even be noticeable. I'm trying not to wo…

I had weight loss surgery, called "gastric sleeve," on February 5, three days after a major family event. I'm pretty open about it with friends. Anybody else, I just say "I eat very little" if I'm asked how I did it! So far I am down 49 lbs. I was 224 and now I'm 175. I went from 20 Plus to about 16 regular. I did it purely for health reasons. The Dr. said that I would have diabetes w/i 5 years otherwise and having tried about everything, felt that there was no other way I would lose the necessary weight. Maybe someone much more disciplined could -- but not me realistically. I have also eliminated my blood pressure medicine and cut down my thyroid and other…

So I had the surgery April 22, I ended up losing almost 30lbs already I was hospitalized on steroids and iv for swelling. I can do soups and drinks, but mushy stuff how do you know when your full or if it just won't go down. I'm thinking my portions are just out and my water intake high now finally(I could barely move 7 days after surgery). But I don't know anyone who has had anything like this done.

Hello all. I got my lapband May 7th 2014. Today my directions say I can have some full liquids. So I have been sipping a Premier Protein shake for like an hour. I so afraid I'm gonna get choked up for some reason. I have not thrown up since the surgery. I know I don't have Fluid in my band yet. But I am trying to take it slow. I am determined to not have in negative episodes. How did you all do your first 3 days after surgery? My starting weight was 225. My weight on surgery date was 214. I am at 213 today.

Tomorrow I'm finally being sleeved after being delayed since 12/2013. I honestly don't know how to describe how I feel other than saying it's like a mixed bag of emotions, memories, nervousness and excitement just to name a few. I've been heavy all of my life and can never tell you that I know what it's like to be at a regular size, I remember even being the fat kid in kindergarten. Needless to say this is going to be quite an ordeal which will never be lacking in emotions. I think about several missed opportunities in life as well as many judgements that I endured that was specifically difficult during my high school years ( I'm 38 May 17). Tomorrow symbolizes something …

Yes, this 70's Chicago song has been playing in my head since Friday (2 days Post Op). I am now 5 days post op and feel sooooo much better! Here's how my day has gone so far: Today I woke up at 6:30 am feeling a little rough (tired and sore) as I have every morning, but I got up, took my Tylenol (I haven't had any narcotic pain relief since Friday- I don't like it!), and had a 4 oz cup of decaf tea. Breakfast was 1/3 cup SF Jello, got down another 6 oz of well diluted Sobe Life Water. Sipped my Protein shake (about 4 oz) on my way to Trader Joe's for yogurt and cottage cheese, which I can add in on Wednesday! Yippee!! lunch was a 1/2 cup of Miso Ginger broth (als…

YEAY I'm in onederland but, I feel the weight is not coming off as it should be. Is this normal? Or has the head games been getting the better of me? I know I need to be eatting more protein I work out daily and get plenty of fluids. There are weeks where I just stay at the same weight.

I had my surgery on April 29th at Penn hosp in phila and I must say it was the best decision I ever made thus far! After 1 week of full liquids my nutritionist graduated me to the next phase, purée. I swear tuna fish never taste so good lol. I keep hearing from vsg veterans that once u start eating foods again that your taste buds will change. So far everything that I've eaten taste how it always taste. At what point will my taste buds change, if at all?

Hey all im finally sleeved and i muat say ive had an incredible ride here. Ive had a little pain in my incisions so little i havent even had pain medication. Also my surgeon did an incredible job with taking most if not all the gases. I have not felt anything as far as gas pain goes. I honestly except for the little discomfort in my incisions i feel 100% normal. Im hoping it continues. They gave me nothing today by mouth. Tomorrow they do my leak test and then start to zip water. Hopefully by Friday i can go home!

Well on March 18th I started my diet two weeks before the surgery. On April 1st I had my surgery. I have lost 65 pounds in 50 days. It has been a painful healing but I'm pulling through. I have been hitting the cardio at the gym drinking 3-5 Protein shakes a day along with a bowel of lean soups and taking many vitamins and minerals like I have alway been for decades.......... I have an issue, my nose has always been cold since I had my surgery. I've never had my nose cold all the time like this. Is this something I should be aware of?

Hi my name is George I am 34 years old, I had sleeve surgery done on 4th November 13 (6 months ago) . I weighted 180kgs 2 weeks prior to surgery and now 125kgs and still loosing. I walk everyday 40 mins, clothes fit better , self confidence is higher. Life is so much easier with less weigth!! I currently loose between 700 grams and 1.5 kgs per week. It is very important to watch what you eat now and don't go back to old habits( witch I'm sure we all know about) . If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask!!
