Are you asking if there will be trouble getting approved because you have depression? Or that you're feeling depressed over having surgery? You'll see lots of people on the board who have depression

You'll see lots of people on the board who have depression and are either approved for or have had the surgery. I am treated for depression and haven't had any issues getting approved (except the psych took FOREVER to send over his clearance letter).

Aygad,

I have struggled with depression. My Dr. had me do a mental health evaluation before surgery. Best thing ever. I'm off a lot of medication and could not be happier. I've been drugged up for years. Now colors are brighter, I'm actually happy. You never know where this Journey will take you. I'm looking forward to the future now. Can't believe this is me. I'm so thankful.

I already got the approvals and everything, im just worried ill turn nuts after the surgery... Ive been trying to lose weight for the past decade.... Anyways so you think it life will better?? Wont i miss food??? I know i wont feel hungry.. But wont i look at food and miss it?

I was depressed for years with my weight and other issues. Immediately after surgery (first day) I went thru some serious buyers remorse. Then it started getting better and better. I started exercising more rigorously and decided to wean off my two meds. One I did by myself and the other I contacted my family Doc about. That was months ago. I'm 9 months post-op and couldn't feel better. Best thing to happen to me besides getting married!

Everyone is different. When you are on liquid and purees, yes you are going to miss food. I couldn't watch people eat and for some reason the smell of ham made me want to cry. Which seems funny now.

Once you get to the solid phase you probably won't miss much. Sometimes I miss sushi but I'm afraid to eat it yet. I also don't know how the rice will go down. Maybe when I'm further out or I can just have sashimi without the rice.

I go to fast food places and I really have no desire to eat anything there. I have salad and can barely eat any of it.

I would say the first few months are very hard but some people just seem to have no issues.

I think I miss having a drink on the weekends more but even that is going away. I just love losing weight more than food or alcohol.
