I started my journey March 10, 2014 as surgery was complete that day. I had a lot of pain but the weight came tumbling off. So far 25 pounds down! I went from 4 diabetes pills to 1 per day and blood pressure went from avg of 140/90 to 110/73!!!!! I did develop a complication over the last 2 days and spent today in the ER while the doctors figured it out. I had developed an infection under the main incision. It was drained and I'm on some antibiotics for the next week. This is such an emotional roller coaster for me. I'm happy I did this but the pain and complication had me questioning everything. Has anyone else had these feelings? For me it's not the diet change…

Today is day 4 and I feel okay , apart from feeling a bit uncomfortable with the extra gas in my system , does any one have any tips on how to help this gas pass? Oh and also experiencing a bit of diarrhoea but this could be because of the drugs the hospital pumped into me ??? The purée diet is blah but it's okay 1/3 weetbix with milk for Breakfast & my husband has made a huge Soup for lunch and dinner last night for dinner I had some mashed up mince and gravy like less than a dessert spoon full it's okay it's what I expected . It's nice to be able to sit at home instead of hospital just watching TV and not doing anything Anyways anyone have any great tips …

Hey everyone! I just found this app on my phone and decided to join. I'm three weeks post gastric sleeve and I'm just starting to feel a lot better. I'm down 21 pounds and I can Artie tell a little difference in my face. I'm still struggling to get all of my water intake, recommended on my stage right now I should be getting 48 ounces but today I only managed about 35oz. I stopped drinking my shakes because they fill me up too much and I can't eat if I drink one, and to me it's a lot more important that I start gradually increasing my food intake because I don't want to live off of shakes for the rest of my life. Plus they are the most disgusting things I've ever tast…

I am nervous about my sleeve surgery next Thursday 4/10. I just keep thinking that I will have some major regret about this huge change. Everyone is so positive on this site, and that has been amazing for me, I am just wondering if there is ANYONE who is not satisfied that they made this choice?

Today I'm two weeks post op so I started vitamins. Keep in mind, I've had nothing but liquids for 3 weeks... Anyway, I plunked a gummy vitamin and a viactive calcium chew in my mouth, chewed a couple of times and swallowed. DUMB DUMB DUMB I called my Dr and they advised me to drink hot lemon water and all should dissolve and pass through soon. This is so uncomfortable and I was panicky so I had a hard time breathing. Has anyone else done something dumb and lived to tell about it??

I started out at 250# on surgery day, March 7, 2014. The procedure went great with very little post-op pain. The next day, I started coughing up yucky green gunk, then the fever came. After a trip to the E.R, and a diagnosis of pneumonia, I was down for about 2 weeks. During the first 2 weeks post-op I lost 14#. After starting on solid food, the weight loss stopped. NOTHING. I was worried that I was doing something wrong. I was just looking forward to my first fill to get losing again. I know I need to walk more, and I am joining the gym to help with that. No excuses of bad weather, too late, too early, too cold, too hot. I was scheduled for my first fill today and was…

Hello.... I'm Amanda. I had my surgery December 4th, 2013. So it has been about 4 months now and I have lost a little over 80 lbs. For the most part I feel good just tired sometimes. I joined this site to hopefully make friends and share experiences going thru this whole process. I'm not gonna lie, the last 4 months havn't been easy. I always worry about my weight loss, if I have lost enough, am I on track? . I get BAD dizzy spells that I have talked to my doctor about. He told me I needed to take in more calories. Now, if six months ago I was told I needed to eat more, NO PROBLEM! But now, Its hard to wrap my head around. I am never hungry and eating seems more like a c…

I am only two weeks post op. I have tried eggs, Beans, bites of meat, and crackers all NOT on my diet. I am failing this..... I have thrown up twice.. I am struggling so so bad with hunger and just food in general. I do my Protein shakes, I walk, I have lost weight. BUT OMG how I hate myself for everything I put in my mouth I am not supposed to. Both my sons, their wives and my grandbabies and my husband are all staying in my house right now since we moved to another state and they are getting on their feet here.. There is always something being eaten/cooked or snacked on. It makes me feel like I am trying to quit drugs in a crack house. I need to find so much st…

I have been lurking around for about a week now, I am shy so it is hard for me to just jump in there. I am in the beginning stages of tying to get sleeved. I just got my letter of medical necessity today and started my 3 months of required weight loss program with my PCP. If everything goes smooth I hope to have the surgery done by September or October. I have one question for those who have already had the sleeve done. It is kinda weird and I haven't seen any post on this yet. I was wondering if anyone has lost significant weight in their fingers? I have fat fingers and my wedding ring is a size 10. I know it is a silly question, but I want to be able to buy a ring f…

After hitting a nearly 3 week stall I finally started losing again this past week slowly. Finally I was starting to feel better and not so down on myself. I went to see my doctor today and I've lost 7 lbs in the last month. Instead of hearing words of encouragement he told me I wasn't doing a good enough job and need to work harder. I explained to him I hit a stall and couldn't lose and nd I just started losing again. His words "well you just have to work through it". It didn't matter how hard I worked I couldn't lose it. I really thought I was doing good. Was even kinda proud of myself and need starting to accept this new life style better now I feel like I'm back at squ…

I'm 9 weeks out from surgery. Since I started my pre-surgery diet 11 weeks ago, I've lost 50 pounds...but now I have stalled (again) for the last week. My hair is slowly falling out...even with Biotin. Overall, I'm happy. This is the best decision I have ever made for my health...just frustrated with the stall!!!!!

I start my pre-op diet on Tues (surgery is on 4/15). I live with husband and kids. What have some of you done about dinnertime the week before surgery when you're hungry and only having your shakes? Do you go to a different room, stay with family and have shake while they eat dinner? I'm planning on shakes, SF ice pops, SF jello and Pho soup with only the veggies (which I can do for the first 5 days of the liquid fast). Anything else you guys have done?

I'm starting out around 425 (my goal weight loss is around 250lbs) and plan to have surgery in July. I want to get my BMI down below 50 by then and at 6'0" tall I should be able to. However, I'm scared that the sleeve won't be enough for me. I had planne on having the DS in 2010 and found out I was pregnant 3 days after being approved. (10 yrs of trying to get pregnant and BAM!). We don't have WLS covered on our health insurance so the only way we can afford to pay cash is to do it in Mexico and get the sleeve instead of the DS. My question is: With the sleeve what is the highest weight loss? Thanks, Ramee

So up till now my post surgery has been no fun at all? I first had the worst time when I got out of surgery and the bed was awful at the hospital, I should have just slept on the floor? Then I got out of the hospital after spending one night but got home and was great for the first 6 days or so and then one week post op and I got horribly sick, fever, head cold, it was awful, at one point thought my incision was infected, and so I went to my doctors and he said it was not infected just oozing crap from the fat tissue they had to cut through to get to my insides, and that is when I found out the reason I had a larger incision than originally though with all the staples, …

So much is going thru my head, I actually had a dream about surgery last night. I pray God gives me strength to make it thru, any April sleevers?

I am about 5 weeks post op. I have already lost about 32 lbs but the last 2 weeks I have been the same weight and have not lost anymore. Really the only thing I eat is meat to get all my daily protein. And I have been very active daily. However I have not gone to the gym, but I do take walks. Has this happened to anyone else?

I'm 9 months post op, 98 lb. weight loss and was feeling wonderful until last Monday. I had just had my Dr. visit on Friday, and everything was great! Except my hair loss is getting worse and so noticeable:( Has anyone had success with stopping hair loss? After dinner on Monday night I had a trip to the ER after having a severe gall bladder attack. I thought I was having a heart attack! So scary! It has calmed down, am now following a vegetarian diet plan. I see my surgeon on Wed. so I guess the decision will be made about GB surgery. As of now, I don't know how many gallstones I have. My regular doctor told me one was 4 milliliters. I would live to hear from any fellow…

Hi everyone, I am new to this app. I hope to take away as much info. As I can to help me on this Quest for life. I just had my surgery December 3 2013 , so I am just 4 mo. Out. My Dr. Was Dr Richard he is great , with great bad side manners. On the second day after surgery while you are down in the X-ray room making sure there are no leaks, he comes in and leaves a stuffed white polar bear on your bed, that's so sweet and comforting. so all that being said.In the beginning it was easier because of the liquid diet, then the soft food part, and then on to the regular diet. This is where the problems began for me. I just could not understand what to eat. They give us shee…

Hi Anniecb here. I have, as other here have struggled with weight for many years. I have looked in to weight loss surgeries in the past but was not too fond of them so I chose to continue to try other paths of weight loss. But in the last couple of years I gained 50 extra pounds that would not come off. I could feel this extra 50 was putting a toll on my body. And I REALLY disliked me! So I finally decided to do a weight loss surgery. The one of what I considered the two of lesser evils (I had not heard of the sleeve at this point) the lap band. When I started checking in to doctors I found out about the sleeve. I knew that would be the one for me. Surgery..…

I'm on my pre-op diet and surgery is April 10th. At first, when I decided I was gonna do this I wasn't gonna tell. But when I had to put for my FMLA at work people found out I was gonna be out for medical reasons, and started asking and I couldn't hold my excitement and told a few, yes I did get the "you are taking the easy way out" "just eat less" "your not that big just exercise" but I didn't care because these are just coworkers. Still I wish I had kept my mouth shut. But two days ago I decided to tell a very good friend who lives far I was asking her to keep me in her prayers because I was doing the surgery and her reaction did hurt. She didn't flat out say it but she…

Starting my journey... I am at the beginning of the journey known as weight loss surgery...doing the research, navigating the insurance maze and preparing myself mentally for the changes that are ahead. I've decided to have WLS because I've tried Weight Watchers, Advocare, Plexus and too many others to name and while I may have had an initial weight loss, I always gained it back - plus some additional. I'm turning 50 this year and I'm tired of my knees and ankles killing me and I'm facing a few other health issues. They are not too serious right now, but I don't do something now, they will worsen. Would love to hear from you about the pre and post-op diet and how you ma…

So my surgery is on the 16th of this month. Anyone who knows me personally, know I am a very personal private person. I chose not to disclose my business to just anyone. I have not told my family, friends, or Co workers. I really could live without the bull crap, and opinions from others. I have a coworker who appears to be nice and friendly, but being a woman we are able to read one another. She sometimes makes slick comments, about my weight and size. Since I have been on a liquid fast she even comments about that, like "oh that's crazy u not eating" I wish she wasn't so evasive and nosey I hate it so much. I feel like I can't do anything around her. She even will com…
