Newbie here, 3 weeks post op

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! I just found this app on my phone and decided to join. I'm three weeks post gastric sleeve and I'm just starting to feel a lot better. I'm down 21 pounds and I can Artie tell a little difference in my face. I'm still struggling to get all of my Water intake, recommended on my stage right now I should be getting 48 ounces but today I only managed about 35oz. I stopped drinking my shakes because they fill me up too much and I can't eat if I drink one, and to me it's a lot more important that I start gradually increasing my food intake because I don't want to live off of shakes for the rest of my life. Plus they are the most disgusting things I've ever tasted. I take 3000 mg of Biotin a day, a Centrum chewable, and 1800 mg of Calcium in three different doses. I went back to work today and I'm exhausted so I'm going to call it a night but it's nice to have a new forum to come to! Goodnight everyone!

Welcome!!!! Your energy level will get better. Watch out with dropping the shakes, make sure you are getting the required Protein. That will help energy and can be critical to your health.

I'm getting at least 30 grams a day, my nutritionist said she doesnt expect me to reach my goal of 65 for a few more weeks when i can eat more food. I am drinking mill and i eat only protein usually. So I'm trying really hard! I can't stand the shakes! I'll try them again once i can add a banana or strawberries. Thanks

Welcome! I'm just shy of two weeks post op. I have a very hard time with the shakes too. The easiest ones for me are the Atkins Advantage and the No Sugar Carnation Instant Breakfast mixed with fat free milk. They are 13-15 gms a serving.

My doctor allows yogurt and cream Soups on Stage 2. So greek yogurt and Tomato Soup have been my friends during this stage.

My 2 week follow up is Wednesday and hopefully I will get the green light to move to pureed foods!

Kim

I'll be 3 weeks on Wednesday and I've been in your shoes. Sometimes I feel like I need to pick a shake or food. In that case food almost always wins but I'm doing better on timing. I still waste a lot of food. I have Breakfast around 8, a shake at 10, lunch at 12, shake at 3, and dinner at 6. I can't finish anything but I eat what I can. My diet is a lot different than yours (funny how our drs have such different paths for us) and I know you'll get more comfortable with your intake once you can eat more variety. Good luck!

Welcome princessdi... I recognize you from the other sleeve website (don't think I'm allowed to mention it here) :)

This forum is great, good to see you here. I'll be 3 weeks on Wednesday.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
