My Journey began May 14, 2013 at 216 pounds After waiting for a year to have insurance I was finally able to get my journey started. I did everything that I needed to do so I could have this surgery. My doctor is Ernest Cudjo, his staff and the other doctors with him are very good at what they do. One of the scheduling staff said that I went through all of the tests needed so fast that my surgery was set up for May 14. I started the pre-surgery diet with no problem and I lost 15 pounds before the surgery. Then the big day came and I was ready, the surgery was a success and I healed up quicker than I thought I would. I am feeling better about myself and I'm looking at f…

Yesterday I worked from 9:00 am until 11:00 pm, then went home to complete my packing. Hello everyone, My name is Sasha and I'm in the process of getting my Journey started to have Gastric Sleeve Surgery. Right now in my Journey I am awaiting my appointment to meet with my surgeon for a consultation. I'm should explain the reason I would like to have this surgery..I'm 28 years old..Married..and mother to 3 children. So I need to be around for a while. I'm only 4ft 10 inches and I weigh 166 pounds. Aloha all, My gastric bypass surgery is scheduled for April 21, 2014. I've done such a good job logging my food and making healthy eating choices since December when I joined my hospitals program, but since actually scheduling my surgery a week ago though I've found it so hard to avoid my old pitfalls. Perhaps now I have, "this is my last chance" mentality- but it is ruining all the work I've done so far. I have had nightmares about gaining weight and then denying me the day if my surgery because of it. This has been a logistic nightmare to plan because I'm a teacher and have to take so much time off work. I would love some encouraging words, stories or tips to get …

This is my first time here and I am in the process of getting gastric bypass. I currently have the lap band which I totally regret. Unfortunately I had a very close person to me pass away from gastric bypass and after that it scared me so bad that I decided to go with the band. I lost 60 pounds and then it stopped:( since, I've gained most of the weight back and recently injured my back and found out I have fibromyaglia. I have 2 beautiful girls and a wonderful husband. I am getting gastric bypass now because I want to be healthy and happy for my family:) right now my lap band removal has been denied but hopefully my wonderful doctor will get that overturned. Just patient…

I'm on day 8 of my clear liquid phase and so far it's gotten easier since my parents brought me home the broth from chicken soup from our favorite local diner...however, I'm still frustrated with diet drink choices...I'm usually an avid water drinker but I need some variety..has anyone had any issues with Bai5 drinks? They have 1 gram of sugar and 10 carbs and only 5 calories..my NUT said I can have anything diet drink as long as it's clear...what are your thoughts on that if you've had Bai5 drinks?

The day has finally arrived. I am literally leaving for the hospital as I type. I am prepared to make permanent lifestyle changes and hope this is the tool I need to finally have CONSISTENT success. Hoping for a relatively easy surgery and be able to drink without too much difficulty post op. I know this will make an improvement in my life. Wish me luck.

I'm still trying to figure out how all of this works. I've been on this site for months now looking for info prior to obtaining my surgery date and now I have it. 4/16/14. I was wondering if any of you were so ready for the surgery up until you got your date and then you started freaking out. I'm really nervous about it. Don't get me wrong I'm excited as can be but, scared about this huge commitment I'm about to jump into. Anyone else feel that way prior to your surgery?

Hi everyone. I was banded a week ago today and everything is going great. I do have some concerns and I was hoping to get some good advice. I have been following my post op diet perfectly and just started on liquid/mushy food. I am really surprised how easy everything is going down. I can eat a lot more than I thought I could. Is this ok? I dont feel full. I have been drinking normally- not needing to sip, although I tried doing that at the beginning. Today I had a bowl of mashed potatoes. First I are half and put it down but quickly realized I was still starving and finished the rest. Is that ok? I am worried that I am able to eat to much. I read so much about people o…

I have hit the 6 week mark and now feel ready to start really exercising. I'm sure many started before this but with me I just wanted to wait and let things sort of become more normal first. Anyways I want to get an activity tracker. I'm leaning towards the fitbit flex but I want to make the right choice. Any feed back would help. Likes, dislikes, or even other kinds that you guys like better. Thank you so much!

I am freaking out! I am anxious, panicky and overall freaked out! My sleeve date is April 15, tomorrow I start the liquid preop diet - I feel so nauseous, stomach pain and awful which I'm thinking is psychosomatic! I am starting to think maybe I should just diet harder or try something else. I'm 38, female, 5 feet and weigh 300lbs! Obviously, I need to do this... Am I having cold feet? Please someone out there shed some light for me and validate how I feel?! Did other people feel like this?

Hi guys! I am new to this. So far I am doing great. I've experienced gas and hunger pains. My stomach was growling and I'm able to DRINK not just sip but drink liquids like a normal person. It goes down well with no restrictions. I dont take gulps but im not getting fulfilled. That concerned me a bit. Idk if thats a good thing or bad. But after speaking with a few ppl who are sleeved they suggested to sip a Lil more throughout the day and that helped. However, I still get cravings and desires for food. I wish it was the other way around. But different strokes for different folds I guess. I don't have any regrets. I love it. I just thought I would not have any interest in…

One week post op & down 17lbs already is that too much too soon? Or normal?!

I am 34/F 295 lbs having RNY-Distal on March 18, 2014. I am having the surgery @ Siani in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. My surgeon does not require the 2 week liquid diet prior to surgery. I decided I want to do the liquid diet anyhow because of the benefits. I ordered Bariatric Advantage chocolate Meal Replacement. ($67.00) And what I have discovered is WHOA, this is WAY harder then I thought! I am on day 3 of this diet and have cheated all 3 days! Day 1 i made the shake like it says on the package. 8 oz of Water and 2 scoops of powder. DISGUSTING! My next shake I used 8 oz of 1% milk and only 1 scoop of powder. That was much, much better. But I was still hungry, so I ch…

I am only been on this site two weeks and I love it. I have learned so much. My surgery was two months ago today and I have only lost 20 pounds but it is ok. I loss 85 pounds with the band and was happy until stopped working and I needed a second port change. My insurance wouldn't pay so I decided to go to Mexico for surgery. I paid the same for the revision and sleeve as I would have paid for the port. I am a NP and I realized doctors don't give enough information. I stopped taking my PPI but after getting on this site realized that was a mistake. I am now taking the medication and think I see a difference.

I had my struggles on my first week post op: pain, swollen, not been able too eat or drink much, etc. once I started my second week I feel amazing. I'm still doing my liquid diet and I can drink without pain. The challenge now is too recognize when I'm full and too drink me 1/2 cup of liquid in 20-30 mins. I'm also 13 pounds down since surgery and I'm running out of clothes that fit me :-). Thanks to all of you out there for support me in this journey.
