Getting impatient

This is my first time here and I am in the process of getting gastric bypass. I currently have the lap band which I totally regret. Unfortunately I had a very close person to me pass away from gastric bypass and after that it scared me so bad that I decided to go with the band. I lost 60 pounds and then it stopped:( since, I've gained most of the weight back and recently injured my back and found out I have fibromyaglia. I have 2 beautiful girls and a wonderful husband. I am getting gastric bypass now because I want to be healthy and happy for my family:) right now my lap band removal has been denied but hopefully my wonderful doctor will get that overturned. Just patiently waiting impatiently!!

Man I wish I could only do 48 hours!!! Mine is the same thing High Protein, low fat and carb, and I have to buy it from for $230.00 for 2 week supply? He gives you 2 jugs of Protein powder, a little container of Fiber, and some chewable Vitamins. I don't know if its the same as the last time I had it, but the fiber is nasty!!!

I am so happy for your march surgery!!! Wishing it was mine!!!! Haha after such a roller coaster ride with the lap and and busting my booty to keep it off to no avail I am ready for this!! Can I ask how long it took ur insurance to approve? I have CIGNA OAP. I love in Indiana and after a horrible winter I am hoping for a new season all around!!

I just want it over!!! As for insurance I have BCBS and it took a week and a half to get approved??? Call your insurance company and ask them if they have any info on your case!!! I did!!!

First off I want to say congrats on ur march dates tina & jess. I should be doing my bypass in april I can't wait. Being on my struggle of kicking Bad eatting and drinking habits and reach my clinics goal weigh which was 222 I last weighted in at 215 .. and drink my shakes daily and trying to reach my 60g protein daily I am told to walk a 30 min walk a day but having copd winter and depression. Some days getting up is hard so I under stand. Took a year to get there now the 12th I go to get clearance from surgeon and set date and ask for insurance approval. Its been along road.. and I too struggle with depression. Living in mass as well hasn't been easy winter.well I hope to hear from u both again soon and feel free to inbox me or I will give my email address if you feel as if u need to vent talk or jus any support what so ever. Best of luck. You are making the best choice for you and your loved ones. Keep up the good work :)

Hey longroad34, thanks for the help, and I would love to be able to talk to someone, its also cool you live in ma as your the first person I have talked to that does and knows what this winter has been like for us massachusetts people. I as well struggle with depression have for a long time. I take meds for it now and it makes me feel so much better, but during the winter I struggle a little more because I love the sun and the heat and the snow just depresses me more and I just deal with it cause it's where I live and it's where I grew up, and all my family is. I would love to move somewhere warm all year round, but all my family and my kids I just don't want them to miss growing up with their cousins and family? So I may change my mind someday but we will see??? So if you want inbox me your email and we can chat and keep close to help each other through this journey. I know it's not going to be easy but this is my last option to loose the weight and get healthy. I need knee surgery and this is the only way that the orthopedic surgeon will do the surgery if loose the weight and get down to a healthy weight that I want to stay at so I can be fitted to a knee brace that i can wear when I play sports. So that is my ultimate, cause some days I can't even walk up my stairs to use the bathroom cause my knees hurt so bad, and they dislocate if I step wrong? So this is my last chance!!!

Your story sounds like mine. 3 handsome sons. Fibro diagnosis in 2009. Lap band in 2011. No luck with the band at all. I am having the band out and gastric sleeve done on March 24. I'm scared but I need to do this. Let's hope it helps this Fibro pain for us. Good luck.

I feel a lot better with my fibro since I started taking Lyrica. Have you tried it?

just started my preop liquid diet and have to be on it until my surgery on the 18th. This liquid thing is going to be hell! I only get 750 cals/day--is that similar to what you guys have to do?

Jess--I have fibro as well and use cymbalta daily and hydrocodone as needed for the pain. It's been a catch 22 though because they say exercise helps but I'm so heavy and it hurts to exercise much so...

I'm really hoping the wt loss helps alleviate fibro symptoms and the actual surgery doesn't hurt more BECAUSE of the fibromyalgia!

I didn't want to take lyrica because of the possible weight gain. I've tried everything and I'm on Lexapro and Cymbalta. But the only thing that takes the edge off is hydrocodone. And it totally is a catch 22 because it is so painful to exercise.... Especially afterwards, it feels like my muscles just tighten up and I can hardly move:/

Hi fellows, I have the same liquid diet, and I have to be on it till my surg. and mine is the 19th, and yes its the same, it is hell at first, like yesterday I by 4 I was starving, but just keep drinking Water in between your shakes, and stuff. You will be in the bathroom every other minute but it's better than getting stomach hunger pains? Also when you do your shake, do it in the blender as much as possible with water or whatever your using and add ice to make it like a milkshake, cause the thicker it is the longer it will keep you from being hungry. Thats what I did, last night I took one of my chocolate shakes and added Peanut Butter to it. So yummy!!! Added Protein. My doctor said I can add fruit, anything I want as long as I am drinking it. So Add what you can to your shake to help keep you from getting hungry!!! Good luck, hope you the best with your surgery.

So ur dates are near how are you guys all holding up. I go on Wednesday to met the surgeon and get his ok to do my last test and submit request to my insurance. Can't come fast enough. Jus checkin on you all. Keep ur eye on the prize everyone. Good luck.

I'm so excited and nervous! I just want to be done.... I'm not looking forward to the pain but I'm so willing to endure it for a chance to be happy and healthy. I am not on a liquid diet, just high protein and low carb. But I've really been drinking protein shakes and eating cottage cheese and eggs. The worst part is I just started my period and I want CHOCOLATE! So bad! Good luck on your journey and keep us updated:)

Jess, have a chocolate shake, you know whats even better, is have a chocolate shake made with Water and ice, to make it like a milk shake and then add Peanut Butter, Yum!!!! So good!!!
