Hello! I'm scheduled for surgery in late August of this year, and I just sent in my heath questionnaire. I'm going to Mexico, and in doing research and contacting different places, one of them told me that by BMI was too high to have surgery. Um, what? Now I'm afraid that that once this place sees my forms, they will tell me the same thing. I'm hoping that if that is the case, since I have a couple of months, maybe they will let my try to lose some weight first. See, I can lose weight if I work really really really hard at at, but the problem is keeping it off. And if I think about eating, I will gain 5 pounds. Seriously, it just happened, right now. I will be cr…

I just found out today that my insurance company has approved my VSG! My date of surgery will be May 6th. I can't believe it - it is very real now. No "if's" but now it is a reality!!! Can't wait to be on the loser's bench. I'm so excited!! It was definitely a good thing that I had to go through the six month weigh-in period. I finally feel that I am really ready to give this my all now!

I was banded January 2013 and weighed 233 pounds at that time. I had enough of the yo-yo dieting and during the first 7 months I lost 30 pounds. I then decided that having a baby was very important to me and I decided to focus my all on this. I finally became pregnant and had a miscarriage at 10 weeks. I was heartbroken. I then became pregnant two months later and miscarried again. I have to words to explain. I am now trying to put the pieces of my heart back together and I decided that I need to work on healing and part of this is loosing weight. I recently went for a fill as I have gained 15 pounds. I need some advice, I really want to get back on my feet and …

Hello - I am new to this site but I have been looking for somewhere to share my journey. My current weight, as of yesterday 04/08/2014, is 305. Started my liquid/protein fast today and so far doing well with little hunger. My lap-band surgery is scheduled for next Wednesday, 1-week away! I am both nervous and excited. My surgeon is Dr. Christopher Reilly and I met him for the first time on yesterday. There is so much information out there that I tend to lose track on some of it but I am trying to retain as much as possible to make this a success! I will post more details as I have them and would love any advice or feedback to make this easier. I have the support o…

My NUT started my 2 wk pre-op liquid diet with 5 shakes a day and Clear liquids (broth, decaf tea, s/f caffeine free drinks) and Jello. By the evening of 2nd day I was throwing up, couldn't stand to take a shower and my husband noticed I was pretty confused (more so than normal ). I had drank 64 oz of Water each day and didn't have trouble with the flavor/consistency of the shakes but couldn't figure the problem. It was clear to me I couldn't sustain this and still drive, let alone take care of my daughter. So a call in to my surgeon & NUT today, realized I was only taking in about 700 calories a day and am dehydrated....I was supposed to be mixing my shakes wit…

Hello Everyone, My name is Angelique and I am 8 weeks post-op. I started my journey Nov 2012 and I am happy with my journey so far. I was looking for a support group but I could not find one that was not hard to navigate through and it was too far for me to drive to one so I decided to start a wonderful female's VSG support group on Facebook, youtube, and twitter. If there is any women vsg's who is looking for an additional support group, please come join us and have fun. Our group is called Sleevesisters

Hi everyone - so glad I found this site. I started this process last year but could not get the surgery because no insurance coverage. I'm now using my bonus to self-pay, so I'm worried about spending so much money and not being happy with the results. I was suprised when I went in to re-start the process and they scheduled me for surgery on May 1!!! I'm so happy I get to do it soon but also I feel like it's happening so quickly (I think the latter is just nerves). I'm so ready for a life change - I gain so much weight during my two pregnancies and have not been able to loose any of it. One of the things I'm concerned about is a social life. I'm frequently invite…

Tomorrow is my surgery. I was not put on a surgical diet given my lower bmi so I have indulged in my Farewell to food Tour over the last 2 weeks. Indulged is an understatement. Tonight at midnight is my cut off. Am going out for my last supper (did someone mention I was going to be executed?) that will definiitely have fois gras on the menu. And then....enough! Just got back from the grocery store where I purchased my post-surgical purchases for food for the next few weeks. I was studying the babyfood labels like it was the holy grail when a kind woman behind me asked me how old my baby is. Coulda been worse - she could have asked me when my baby is due! …

While I lost a bunch on my pre-op diet, I am excited to be consistently losing even in the real food stage. Thanks everyone for all the tips and tricks and support that makes each of us a success. Yes, maybe I am still in the honeymoon phase, but I LOVE IT!

I've enjoyed reading here for a while but put off signing up since I didn't feel this was really going to happen. Went to my first consultation in October, took a bunch of tests and attended the required appointments. Finally was given a pre-op day and surgery day but insurance had not yet given authorization. Surgery was supposed to be on the 18th. I pestered the poor staff about the authorization many times as I didn't want to get family and work all set-up for no reason. Lo and behold after sending yet another inquiry I got a call today that said yes I'm authorized and they'd like to move my surgery to next Tuesday and pre-op tomorrow. OMG. Suddenly it's very re…
