Diarrhea! I need help!

I had my surgery a little over a year ago. April 8th 2013.. As of last Tuesday I get horrible stomach cramps (feel a lot like menstrual cramps- but I'm not on my days) along with my stomach cramps I have diarrhea. It comes and goes but i don't know what to do! I notice it most at night. I have to get up and go to the restroom 5-8 times during the night. Has anyone else had this happen to them? I am considering calling my doctor tomorrow but don't want this to be something normal and I'm making a big deal out of it. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!
