I just completed my EGD Friday and it was a truly awful experience. They gave me anesthesia and I had such a hard time breathing that they ended up having to stop the procedure to intubate me because I stopped breathing. The anesthesia wore off before the EGD was done and while they were pumping oxygen into me. So naturally I freaked out screaming.. anyone else have any issues like this? I'm worried if I had this difficult of a time for a simple procedure that I won't make it through the actual bypass! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm set up for February 4th. Seems like forever away. People keep telling me, "oh don't worry". It bugs me cause I'm not worried. What seems to keep popping in my head is, am I doing the right thing. I would like to here what others are thinking, going through. My Doctors plan is two days preop clear liquid, not 10 like I've been reading on here. Anyone else similar? Thanks, Kimo

Hello! I am on my weight loss journey and I am in the pre-op testing/evaluation phase I had an initial consult, my gallbladder ultrasound with normal results and a sleep study where I possibly have sleep apnea, however they were unable to say until a doctor looks at my results and makes that decision Next week I have my EKG, psych eval and see the nutritionist I was curious about everyone else's experience in the pre-op testing phase, so far I have no complaints! If anyone has any words of advice or want to share their experience I'd love to hear it! Or if you're just starting this journey as well and are looking for someone to talk to for support I don't mind…

Did you have any comorbid conditions when you were approved by the insurance company? Or were you able to get approved with just your BMI alone? All of my blood work came back good. They said I am healthy other than my weight, obviously. I've been reading up and most everything said you must have at least one comorbid condition, for most insurances to approve bariatrics surgery. I met with the bariatrics center on Tuesday and now we wait 2-3 weeks for insurance to come back with a answer and I am crazy nervous since I am "healthy". Hi guys I unfortunately received bad news from the doctors after the screening to do surgery And they denied me because I have a problem with stress eating They will send me to a facility where I learn to handle stress without resorting to food and going to a nutritionist After that if I'm still fat than I'm allowed to go back :/ I am really disappointed After all the waiting and traveling I was so ready for the surgery and now it's denied Does anybody else been denied surgery? Hello all! I'm new here and I've got a few questions, but first I wanna introduce myself. My name is Kristen. I'm 25 years old. My BMI is a little over 40. I have co morbidities but I don't think my insurance will cover them. I started my journey in December of 2015 and did the 6 month physcian led weigh ins, but I had to start over, because I was at a 39 BMI until my last weigh in and my surgeon didn't think my insurance would cover the surgery with my co morbidities, so she told me to maintain my 40 BMI and we would try again. I have my last weigh in tomorrow and I will be meeting with my surgeon again on Tuesday! I'm so excited but I'm so nervous. My co morbidities…

My surgeon has me on a very strict are op diet. 3 protein shakes a day and up to 250 cals of selected veggies. I'm on day 7 and I was doing so good. I thought I was strong enough to make a nice dinner for my family. Well I ended up eating a small kids bowl of lasagna. How screwed am I? I still have a mother week, but do would it still affect my liver? Please no harsh comments like I should have more will power, bla bla bla. I already feel bad enough ????

My insurance coordinator takes forever to get back with me on my questions, so I figured I would post me question here to hopefully get a quicker response. What is a surgery scheduling fee? My insurance covers my surgery 100%, so is this just something the doctor's office is throwing in there to make more money?

Curious if anyone else decided to self-pay to avoid the wait period and hoops the insurance company makes you jump through? My insurance company wanted a 12 month wait and I would have need to gain and maintain 10 extra pounds because the wouldn't recognize my pre-diabetes as a comorbidity. So I've opted to pay $11,000 in MI and have the surgery done 6/7. I've gotten a lot of mixed reviews from friends and family for bypassing insurance and taking the financial burden but I have no regrets! (Yet!) Curious if any one else made a similar decision? I scheduled my nutrition and psychiatric evaluation today. I am going through a center that can do both. The nutrition evaluation is 1.5 hours and the psych evaluation is 4 hours. Are those times close to what others have experienced? 4 hours seems long, but the receptionist said it might not take that long.

Has anyone had trouble qualifying with their insurance? Mine, Rocky Mountain Health states only,a "glandular issue can qualify you. I've had hypothyroidism since I was 34, now 57, and because I'm medicated for it, it's not considered a issue. I'm at a loss. I was just diagnosed with severe sleep apne, but they say that isn't considered a comorbidity. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Hi all, My insurance does not cover bariatric surgery and the price I was given in CT is $26,000. YIKES! This report shows in New Jersey being significantly lower. I'm willing to drive. Are there in sleevers in the NY, NJ, CT area who have gotten sleeved in the Tri-State for a (much) lower fee? Would love your recommendations. Thanks!

Good morning everyone- My wife and I have recently embarked on the VSG trek. We've both done our info sessions and initial consult with surgeon. Our first psych eval appointments are this week (specifically, hers yesterday, mine today). She came home from that appointment expressing concern regarding the impression she got from the psychologist. Due to some of the comments made and impression given, she fears that he may not give her the thumbs up on his assessment. My question-has anyone out there been in a similar situation where both parities of a couple were looking to do this together, but only one was approved for surgery? If so, what path did you each take?…
