February Sleevers

I'm set up for February 4th. Seems like forever away. People keep telling me, "oh don't worry". It bugs me cause I'm not worried. What seems to keep popping in my head is, am I doing the right thing.

I would like to here what others are thinking, going through.

My Doctors plan is two days preop clear liquid, not 10 like I've been reading on here. Anyone else similar?

Thanks,

Kimo

I'm sleeved! I did it!!! Just drowsy for the pain meds. Not in much pain thank god. Just happy. My new beginning is starting! VSG Date: 2/13/13

  • I was sleeved today. To be honest it wasn't that bad ( besides them not being able to start an IV after 3 tries). So they put it in my arm and not my hand. They gave me a sedative before I went into t

my preop is the 1st, surgery the 18th, taking 10 days off of work,, then going to have help for 4 days, then off again for 5 days, I don't care what kind of diet they put me on, I do better with rules then free reign LOL going to keep posting my whole experience, I don't have a whole lot of weight to lose, my bmi is 34 but I am short, this for me is preventative medicine, my mother died very young with horrible diabetes and heart issues, not going to let it happen to me. I am very determined and dedicated to this. Mary

I was originally 2/4, but bad outbreak of shingles on my face. So pushed back to 2/25. I am going to ask for 5-6 weeks off. I keep reading about people dealing with major fatigue. With MS that's a big concern for me, so I have disability and I'll use that to help.

Mary! Mine is the 18th too! My bmi is 38 but I've had diabetes for about 15 years...I want it gone! I've quit smoking and now this! I turned 50 yesterday and want to have a fabulous 50s!

Heyher, I have an auto immune disease too Ans fatigue is a huge issue too! I have ankylosing spondylitis. It and diabetes have kicked my butt in the fatigue department! I totally relate!

Hi Heyher,

Wow, that must be extremely painful!! I think, for me anyway, 2 weeks off will be harder than surgery itself. Went back 1 week after hernia surgery. That left a 3 inch scar. Lol. 3 days after i was fine.

Pre op feb 5th, surgery February 18th! Doc hasn't said anything about changing my diet yet... Weird... Cannot wait. I have been counting the days for 6 years and dreaming about the upcoming changes. So close yet so far. Sometimes I feel like it won't work for me but I'm telling myself to not go in fearing failure but to expect success... Its hard to retrain your brain after do many years.

My preop is Feb 8th...surgery is Feb 18th! My prepo diet is 10 days. 2 liquid meals and one small, low carb, low fat meal per day. Glad I get some food that 10 days!

I will! I'm 5'2 and 247. Goal weight is 130. SIL getting married in October in Jamaica. I WILL BE wearing a pretty bathing suit and feeling confidant by then.

February 6th for me as well! No pre-op diet prescribed other than cutting carbs and increased protein as much as possible, and then two days of liquids before surgery, nothing after midnight the night before. I've decided to go ahead and do about ten days of liquids anyway, as the nurse at my surgeon's office said it would be okay if I wanted to. I want to. I'm seriously sick of food. I'm so ready to be on the other side of this!

These are my same #'s and when I told my doctor my goal of 140 he chuckled. He said probably about 160 :(
