I went to one appointment at the bariatrics center after referral from my PCP. At that appointment they submitted paperwork for an approval for the weight loss surgery. They put me on the books for next month and march for blood work, dietician, everything that they require etc.... everything I've read, people did their requirements first then the doctor/surgeon sent in the insurance request. In Australia we can apply to pay for our operation with our superannuation money. This is a warning text for anyone tempted to use a company to do this...DON'T. I forked out $680.00 to a company who claim to speed up the process and know how to get Centrelink approval. They have no more pull with Centrelink than you do! they are also pushing the boundaries of fraudulent behaviour as they require you to hand over your MyGov passwords and login. They have cost me big dollars and I ended up doing all the negotiating with Centrelink myself. The Centrelink Early release of Superannuation team are excellent and will walk you through the process without you having to give…

I just made the decision to have gastric sleeve surgery and have a seminar to attend in 2 weeks to kick off the process. This is the scariest thing I have ever done and keep trying to talk myself out of it. I am 50, have about 125-130 lbs to lose, and am in constant pain from being so big. I know I need to do this but how does everyone get past the fear of something going wrong? Thanks for any input/suggestions you have. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

That's not typically the norm. These diets don't help people stay in shape and once in a very blue moon do these diet help people lose 100+ lbs. I'm currently waiting on approval from my insurance company and have been following the diet given to me by my nutritionist. I've cut back on portions, getting more Protein and drinking more Water. I go walking 3 times a week and do exercises at home as well. I haven't lost a pound on my own. I started this 2 weeks ago. I bounce between 253 and 256 everyday. It's very discouraging and I'm afraid it will affect me being approved for surgery by my doctor. What else can I do? BTMOMOF3
