I got my appointment set up today to see a Bariatric surgeon. April 12th can't come fast enough. This particular surgeon is in Covington, La. He will not even see a new patient until they have completed a check list. The longest part being a 6 month supervised weight loss program. I am happy to say I'm down 58lbs from just watching my intake and portion control. I've started walking and I hope I can keep that up at least 3 times a week!!! I'm sorry I'm just super excited!!! My surgeon doesn't do liquid diets. I can eat up until 12am day of surgery anyone else ?? I asked him why & he's been doing bariatric surgery since the 90's he says he doesn't see any significant physical reason he thinks alot of surgeons do it for the mental aspect because some pt's go insane with food funerals he had a girl gain 30lbs obsessing about what she' won't be able to eat Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Was anyone scared or nervous for surgery? I'm not scared about the surgery I'd say the after surgery and not knowing what to eat and so on. I believe my biggest obstacle will be remembering to eat as I struggle with eating now due to my medication that I take that suppresses my appetite. I also work as a traveling night nurse. Anyone have suggestions on what is good "pureed" food and what you use for a Protein drink as I don't want to buy one that taste like chalk! Sent from my SM-G928V using the BariatricPal App

  14. Hey everyone. I am currently still in the process of paper work & testing to see if my insurance will cover me for the gastric sleeve. I have been putting the process off for about 4 months now & I think I'm ready to do it. I am still nervous because of some of the horror stories I've read but I'm not new to undergoing surgery just seeing people fail with this as their "last option" isn't encouraging. Has anyone successfully or know anyone successfully that did the sleeve and got the results they expected? & is anyone else in the same stage I'm in? I have 2 weeks until the big day! I have been on my pre op diet for a little over a week.. and so far have lost about 13 pounds. It's been rough. Very rough. But I am sticking to it as much as possible. I am in the process of finally getting my cpap machine. Hopefully that won't be an issue for my surgeon if I miss one night with it. I am nervous. I have been denied and the delay in getting my cpap to being approved thanks to my surgeon for rallying for me and my cpap being shipped today. It's been a looooong journey to get to these 2 weeks before surgery. I am excited but nervous. I am glad that I have the support of my family and loved ones. I try to keep those who aren…

I am so annoyed by this process! As a person who has never in life been sickly, had surgery, been admitted to a hospital, this process is beyond my comprehension. Not only am I dealing with a myriad of doctor's offices and appointments, the medical bills are overwhelming. Hi all. I just had my initial consult with the surgeon last Thursday. I'm super excited to get things going and have made all my appointments before my follow up 3/16. I have to say though, as a working person, this is tough. Most of these professionals don't offer evening hours. I have to see 1) PCP for medical clearance/referral, 2) nutritionist, 3) psychologist, 4) exercise evaluation, 5) endoscopy, and then 6) surgeon follow up. It's a good thing I do admin time two mornings a week so I'll just come in late after the appointments. I did have to tell my boss though since there are just so many days. I told her I was having stomach problems and had to have some tests…

Well i have been given a surgery date.. won't he do it. Whoop whoop and now the big question.. when they called about surgery date did they discuss financing because I had to poke at them to tell me how much this was gonna cost. Doctor and hospital is separate I knew that but they still need to discuss and get more information from the insurance about the cost. I think I'm more nervous about the cost than the actual surgery.. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hello everyone. I started my journey for the surgery way back in September of last year. I hadn't been able to start the process officially because my insurance didn't kick in until December. I attended my Bariatric Seminar at Englewood Hospital in NJ, which just re-affirmed my decision to go through with Gastric Sleeve Surgery. I scheduled my first appointment with the doctor. To my surprise after all the excitement I walked into the office for my appointment and the doctor that I had researched extensively and was referred to me by family and friends, didn't take my insurance tier. I was almost heartbroken. I thought "am I not doing this right?" Luckily, I had indeed se…

Getting nervous for Surgery less than a month away. If all goes well with no complications when do people start to feel themselves again minus the food changes? For example, when do you feel you can drink liquids normally, feel no pain, are less tired etc? I think I have this built up in my head that I'm going to be in severe paian for a month but then I read posts and people are exercising a month later. It gives me hope! I recently had a hysterectomy and felt good within two days but was just tired and felt great a month later. Why does this scare me so much when Ive been preparing for months?
