The only thing I am nervous about with my upcoming sleeve surgery is the post op liquid diet. Did you find you felt full? I am 100% ok with only drinking liquids, as long as I actually feel full! I am terrified that I will feel very hungry.

So I went in today for my 6 month diet weigh in. I was told that I am now starting the no carb and high Protein diet. I can only eat high lean protein and no carb veggies until my surgery which will be in April. I was like...wait.....what???? no 2 week pre-op liquid diet. I was told that it would not be necessary if I followed this diet very strictly, however if I really felt it was necessary I could follow the liquid diet instead. I had my lap band removed 9 days ago and was just NPO after 12 am. Has anyone else not had to do the liquid diet phase? I would much rather do the no carb diet but would hate to screw anything up!!

I started my 10 day pre op liquid diet on Monday the 13th, my sleeve surgery is the 23rd. Today was my birthday and I had such a craving for pizza that stupid me decided it was going to be a really long time before I was able to eat pizza hut pizza again so i went out with my kids and boyfriend for pizza. I had 2 pieces of pizza and 2 breadsticks plus about half glass of sprite. I went straight back to my liquids as soon as I got home and I plan to stick to my liquid diet 100% from now till surgery. Do you think everything will be ok or what do you think I should do

My first appt with a bariatric surgeon was cancelled because they no longer take my insurance, I was devastated!. After spending 2 hours on the computer I found a place in Chicago that takes my insurance, and I made sure they did!!! My first appt. Is Feb. 8 th. I am 50 years old, 5'10 and weigh 252.8, my BMI is 37.8. I have high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, and joint pain. I am afraid of being told no. Don't know why I am feeling this way, but I do. It's something that I've wanted for the past couple years. I've done Jenny Craig, WW, and just personal dieting, losing maybe 20 pounds, but always getting frustrated and gaining is all back, then I just…

I turned in all my paperwork from the seminar, got weight and height answered a few question last Friday right when my surgeons office opened. They said they would call to schedule my first initial appointment to meet the surgeon, I was expecting to hear back maybe by Monday or Tuesday. I called today and asked if I was supposed to wait for them to call or I was supposed to call, they said it's still under the review process before they schedule an appointment. I asked the lady okay so maybe by the end of the week you will call, and she said shouldn't be too long but I don't know if we will call by then. So I'm just wandering how long after you filled out your initial pap…

Had my consultation with my Surgeon and the dietitian on 2/6/2017, everyone was so nice and helpful. I dreaded the appointment for no reason at all. My surgeon agreed with me that the Gastric Sleeve is the best option for me and he went over the procedure and all the pro's and con's, he answered all the questions my husband and I had. Then I had an hour with the dietitian where we discussed all the diets I've tried what has worked and what hasn't worked in the past. She gave me some awesome information that I will now spend the next 3 months implementing. I will have a video conference with her each month for the next two months and fly back to Seattle for my final appoi…

I chew Trident Bubble Gum like some people smoke cigarettes, obviously that's a huge no-no due to swallow risk and excess air in pouch. I decided to actually try a 0 nicotine e cigarette and I really like it but I'm not addicted to it per se. All the forums say no nicotine after surgery but this is non-nicotine so do you think it's okay? Or do I need to let this go too?

Well today I see my surgeon after completing my 6 month requirement, to get my surgery date. I am in a panic! I am sure a lot of you have dealt with the same feelings. It's really happening! I'm most worried about the loss of my best friend- food! Well bad food, the food that got me here. I know it will be hard to let go of my bad habits. I just hope I can do it! I have a journal to start writing down my feelings, I have everything in place. Like all of you I have watched, read, and researched everything I could think of. My heart is ready, but I just hope my food addicted brain will join the party!

It is now midnight and yesterday at 1:00 I was sleeved! I was beyond scared but I'm doing great now! I had gas pains in my chest making it hard to breath in, but I walked as soon as they would let me and after two walks and plenty of burping I have no more gas pain! I have been using my pain pump and have even been able to get some sleep. I have been sipping Water constantly with no issues. I wanted to thank everyone who helped pep me up and calm my worries. I don't think I could have done it without you all and my support system at home. Feeling awesome on the other side! Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

I am writing this to help those whom have United Health Care. Here are the following things to know and tips: Before reading these tips, contact UHC for confirmation that Bariatric surgery is covered under your plan. Confirm the requirements. Confirm that your surgeon and his associated hospital is In-Network (if they are not, it will be like paying for the surgery without insurance). Make sure you have an understanding of what the insurance wants to see or have done. 1) You are eligible if you have a 40 BMI or Higher / Greater than 35 BMI with Co-Morbidity. 2) Once you find your surgeon, you will have to do 6 months worth of testing, dieting and education. 3) You will…

I don't know why, but after researching bariatric surgery for a while now and starting the process of getting a gastric sleeve, I find myself wondering what the heck I'm doing. I don't know why I'm having these doubts. On top of my co morbidities, I am at my highest weight ever, I have constant back pain whether I stand, sit or lay down, and I'm experiencing the worst heartburn that I have ever had in my life. I recently have gone up another pant size which I swore I would never do. Yet, here I am finding myself looking up diets again to see if I can finally stick with one that will help me to lose all of this weight. I'm almost 80 lbs over weight which probably woul…

Just found out my surgery has been scheduled! It seems like the battle I have been fighting for 30 years is going to be won! I have gone back and forth of going down the surgery route for over a year, trying everything to lose, but never successful. I started this process in November 2016 and it's been full steam ahead. My biggest challenge will be having my pre-op testing done on the 27th, 2 days after returning from a cruise. I am guessing I will need to be good to ensure I don't gain weight. I am so ready for this life changing journey to start and am ready to join the losers bench!!

I started my process back in November and we are now into a new year. I was told by several ppl that even though it is a new year that my deductible should be based off last year when my process started and not this years deductible. The example I was given is for instance if I became pregnant in 2016 and I delivered in 2017, my insurance is going to pay based off my deductible being met the year that I got pregnant. The insurance can't say well we can not pay your hospital bills because you haven't met your deductible for 2017. I'm just needing some help whether anyone knows if this is true or false. Because if it's true, then I am owed some money because I met my dedu…
