I'm going for my monthly weightloss appointments. In 2015 my Dr documented my height at 5'4' my BMI was 41, then in 2016 my Dr documented me at 5'5 still with a BMI of 41. If they used my height as 5'5 in 2015 it would have dropped my BMI to 39. I don't have any comorbities. Should I be concerned, my surgeon measured me at 5'4, and so did my new doctor. My Drs office doesn't think it's going to be an issue.

I started my journey back in late November. I had to lose 24 pounds for the insurance company to consider surgery. I lost 22 pounds and I hit a wall. I haven't changed anything in my diet. I went to see the surgeon and now my surgery which was on March 6th is now on March 27th. Any help on how I can get over this hump?

So I'm all set with my pre op appointments. I'm just unsure about one thing. I am really shy and I have been this way all my life. So with things like first days of school and GROUP MEETINGS I get a little nervous about. I guess my question here is what can I expect in this group appointment? Will I have to share my weight and health information out loud? Will i be doing any talking? I would much rather speak to a nutritionist one on one for comfortability, but this is what my insurance requires. If any one has done it in the Cary, North Carolina office that is a plus, but any experience helps. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I am currently going through the process and I have my final at the end of March. I currently have chosen RNY but I am really going back and forth about the sleeve. I know a few people that have gotten the sleeve and have been very happy with the results. I weigh,250. Not a huge number, but a high enough number that I need to lose 120 pounds. I have a bad relationship with food, as I eat my feelings. My concern about getting the bypass rather then the sleeve is I have two young children. When I have a healthy relationship and I want to have a bite of cupcake at their birthday party is it worth experiencing dumping syndrome? I want to experience happiness and I'm so afraid…

I'm just curious for those seeking the VSG. Have you always had a weight problem or has this been something you developed in adulthood? I've been obese since childhood and lost a significant amount of weight (170 pounds) using Weight Watchers about five years ago, but gained it back and then some. Keeping weight off is definitely a challenge!

Hello fellow bariatric patients, I'm in Canada, my surgeon wanted a 12 week liquid diet pre-op. Before I get into the details here's my story in highlights: - 34 Male, 5ft11in (180cm) - Severe weight gain over a few years (from 180 to 360 peak in 5 yrs) - Caused a number of sudden issues (stage 3 liver fibrosis, pre-diabetes/diabetes, increased GERD, L5/S1 compression fracture, high bp/pulse, depression, etc.) - S3 Liver fibrosis: initially diagnosed cirrhosis w/fibrotic scan but after biopsy (which they did after I told them I'm not an alcoholic) revealed stage 3 fibrosis&no cirrhosis - prior ultrasound suggested 19cm or larger, not sure …

obvioiusly diets have not worked for me . In the past , the only thing that did work was Very low Cal HCG which was about 600 cal a day until even that didn't work . A week on the pre op diet and I've lost nothing ! I'm not worried about following the rules because I have lots of willpower but what if I get sleeved and still do t lose ? Is that possible ?
