Hello All and thank you for allowing me to be a part of this web page. I am in he beginning stages of getting all my pre screening clearances done and it looks like my surgery day is March 7th. I have soooo many questions and have watched so may videos. I am amazed at the number of people that are having this done. I guess my first concern or hurdle is what is the pre op eating like? I have started back drinking smoothies and using a whey Protein to make sure I will like it when the post surgery diet starts. Does any one out there have some tips to help make the process a little easier. I scanned the other post and really didn't see anything... Chris

I have to bring my husband and my children. Age 12 and 14 to my surgery. I feel sad that they have to see this all. Feel embarrassed and weak that I am having this done. I feel like they are going to think there's a cure for being severely overweight and eating awful and being lazy. How do you cope with this? I want my kids to be healthy. Not just see a way out once it happens. They are both chubby. Specially my daughter :-((((( Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Has anyone been able to get authorized for surgery using appointments with your primary care physician? I have BCBS of Georgia and they require a 6 month supervised diet plan but I have been working on diet and weight loss with my pcp since Aug 2016 and only 3 months with surgeon. I was going to pcp about sleep apnea but we always talked about my plan for weight loss and he has obesity listed for each appointment. Surgeon says that he can use pcp visits for pre-auth but insurance company says it has to be visits for weight loss only. Anyone have similar situation that got authorized? I'm pre op. N I see everyone talk about their love of food.... I guess I'm just odd. Because don't get me wrong I like food but I didn't get fat by eating... I got fat by drinking. I drink cola like allot. I'd eat maybe a potato for lunch. Then a 9 inch plate of food for dinner. A although I admit I have a sweet tooth I didn't have sweets everyday...but the soda. Ive cut down allot I'm down to 2 a day ( I know not enough but I'll get there) I just find the eating more meals n Snacks hard. Its not odd for me to go all day n only eat a small dinner.... Well that's about my struggles. Thank u for listening... Thank u

Hello! I'm a new member on this site and I had a question....does Medicare require you to got to an accredited doctor of excellence? (or something like that...). I'm getting ready to attend an informative free weight loss gastric sleeve seminar near my hometown but, the surgeon and the hospital are not on the 173 verified hospitals for medicare patients. The closest center is 3 hours away (320+ round trip miles). It will be a real financial challenge to do so much traveling back and fourth. I also have an older car with a lot of miles on it...what can I do? Any suggestions?

Hi everyone! I just found this app so I'm hoping it's going to be my new favorite thing! Just went to a seminar last night with my husband. Am seriously considering the gastric sleeve and I'm super excited and nervous. I am about 90 lbs overweight. Have been overweight for the past 12 years. I feel this surgery will be the answer to my weight loss prayers! I have tried every diet out there. I have lost weight several times, only to gain it back. I am waiting to hear back from the hospital after they check into my insurance. I am so ready for my new journey to begin! I have already looked into my ins coverage myself. Looks like I have great coverage. Just need to wait ti…

Since going to my orientation last week with Kaiser Insurance I weighed myself again this morning and I've dropped 9 pounds. They told us that during the 12 weeks of Options class we have to lose 10% I think of our body mass which they told me is 14 pounds for me and I haven't even started the classes yet and I've already lost 9 so excited. I have been eating healthier and I've been walking usually 3 miles a day. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Ok...so, it's getting real. I have completed 1 week of the pre-op diet. It's going well and have dropped 13lbs. Tonight I tried a different Soup and totally regret it. I feel like my taste buds are already changing. So, this time next week. I will almost be landing in San Diego and the next morning, off to see Dr. Illan. Can't wait! After you were done with all of your Lifestyle Classes and had seen the surgeon after that, what kind of questions did you ask them and what happens at that appointment, exactly? I just want to know what what to expect as far as the appointment itself goes. I see the surgeon February 13th. I feel silly for posting this on the wrong thing. It's in another forum somewhere and I can't delete it...

I'm so happy to report that I had the last of my 6-month nutrition classes this morning! At times it felt like the longest six months. I wasn't a huge fan of the classes (mostly the other people in them). I did learn some new things along the way, which was good. Now all I have left is to get my pulmonary clearance (appointment scheduled later this month) and complete a visit with the dietitian at the surgeon's office (appointment next week). Things feel like they're finally moving along!

I am 4 months into my weightless appointments. I go for my sleep apnea test on the 15th of March, and that will be everything finished except seeing a nutritionist. I'm getting excited, but nervous too. I have been overweight for the last 10 years, and I am so tired of letting weight control my life. I have heard so many horror stories about this surgery. I am overseas and will be here for at least a couple more years. I have an adult son who is here too, and our lives have been food. There are places I know I won't be able to eat at again and I am feeling a little sad about that. All you can eat Korean BBQs, sushi go rounds, a full bowl of ramen, and even Starbucks during the month of February for my bi-weekly Sakura drink. They aren't going away or changing but I am. I feel sad that not only will I not have the same experiences, I would be going to my son's favorite place because it makes no sense to pay $30 for 6-8oz a year out from now for just my meal. I am feeling sad about it. These were things we did together. It…

Hey yall, I'm actually from the Michigan area but due to my success with the sleeve so far, my sister in law is really interested in having it. She lives in the Charlotte area (university district) and asked me to help her find some great Dr.'s she could go to. I don't know the area at all so I figured I'd start with you guys. So far I picked up a Dr. Ryan Heider... if there are any other suggestions, reputable health systems, Bariatric surgeons, centers of excellence in the charlotte area Please share. I'm hoping to have some info for her by the end of the week so she can start the process soon. Thanks!
