so, my doctor submitted everything to my insurance for pre-certification on March 1st. Yesterday, I called the insurance to verify that it had been recieved and it had but it was in "Pending" status. Yesterday evening my doctors office called and left me a message to call them back. I work overnight so I didnt get the voicemail til very late last night so I havent called them back to see what's going on. I'm nervous and my anxiety has got me in a whirlwind of emotions because my doctors office was hesitant about submitting everything anyway due to me not having a weigh in in november for my 6 months because the office I do the weigh ins at were closed due to the holidays…

I just got the phone call that I have been approved. Surgery is set for march 24th! i was worried for nothing, just goes to show that we shouldn't let our anxiety get the best of us because God has a plan for us and if it's in his will, he will allow it to happen.

I just finished watching an episode of my 600 lb life. It reminded my of the pain and addiction that goes along with overeating. It is like quitting a drug. I gave in to temptation yesterday big time (damn food delivery!) jk I am fully accountable. As a child, my mom was obese and I was basically never told no. I was told to eat whatever I wanted as much as I wanted and that is what I saw her do. I am doing much better today with eating. It has been harder fitting in exercise. I know I need to push through it. How have you gotten through not being able to eat for comfort anymore? I have not had the sleeve yet but I am just trying to prepare myself. Also, am I going to ha…

Hello everyone! I am a patient in Montefiore Medical Center in New York. I am getting really impatient waiting for my pre-op appointment to receive my surgery date. Basically I want to know how long it took the rest of you guys to see your doctor for a date after all your appointments. I have been waiting for a month now and called two weeks in and was told they will call. I already informed my job that I will be needing some days off and hope to know the actual date soon.

I read that some Doctors don't require the pre-op diet for those with BMI less than 35. Just me with surgeon and got my date! March 13th it is! Pre-op class and anesthesiologist meeting March 3rd! No pre-op diet with this surgeon.

I know this sounds very strange but is it possible to lose too much weight prior to obtaining authorization from the insurance. My BMI is 44 right now. I'm afraid that I'll lose one pound too many while I'm working through my six month requirement and drop my BMI to 39.9 and then not qualify for surgery. Is that possible? Or do they use the starting weight from your first appointment?

So, I met with my surgeon for the first time today and everything went ok except that he said he would rather do the bypass surgery instead of the sleeve. He said it's ultimately my choice, that he will do either for me but that because of how much weight I need to lose he suggests the bypass. I have been doing a lot of research about the two and honestly I don't want to do the bypass. The sleeve seems like a better fit for me and I don't really care what the statistics say because I am not a statistic. I am just me. I know the sleeve isn't going to magically take away all my problems, it's a tool. A tool that is going to help lead me towards a better, healthier me. …

Hello, I'm traveling out of my state to have gastric sleeve surgery next month. I was wondering if others have been in my situation of getting Pre op testing (CBC,CMP, H Pylori, EPA and Lateral Chest and EKG) testing in your current area because you were traveling for your surgery. I have found places to do everything except the EKG. I am cash pay and the price at the hospital is thousands. Does anyone have any suggestions?

So just called my insurance for a status update on my pre authorization and was first told it was approved, then the representative said it shows approved in one spot and denied in the other so she will have to call me back after she can clear that up. I am so upset and nervous I hate not knowing what is going on! Anyone else ever have this happen to them?

I finished my final doctor's exam evaluation today. It was the Pulumonary evaluation and he said I was extremely low risk! Onward and upward! He did say something unusual however. He remarked that he was surprised I was having surgery. My bmi is 38 and I have apnea, diabetes, high BP, high cholesterol and a family history of heart disease. I was kind of surprised by that response. I may not have a bmi of 50 but it is not like I am in the best shape either!

I have a meeting with the psychologist and the surgeon on March 31st. I have been working towards this goal of WLS since last August, but now that things are coming together, I'm having second thoughts about actually going through with the surgery. Just wondering if any of you have went through something like this, and what the outcome was?

My day is almost here and all I can think about is the things I can't wait to do when I get rid of this weight. I'm going on a cruise to the Bahamas in Nov. Have to fly from Cali to Florida. Excited to see how much room I will have on the seat of the plane. Looking forward to shopping at forever 21 or smaller stores like that for a cheap price Looking forward to being able to really run again which I haven't done since high school 12 years ago Looking forward to playing more with my 6 year old Being able to fit on a ride at an amusement park and not have to come up with an excuse on why I can't go Can't wait to wear heels again like they are sneakers. Last week was absolutely awful, but this week is so amazing. I had no idea how I was going to stop the cravings and control myself, but I went through the sugar withdrawals and I'm on the other side. I feel like I have more energy, I'm happier, I'm more alert and less foggy headed. I feel great. Tell me, do I feel like this after bypass too? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

This is my first time posting and I need advice. My 12 yr old daughter is overweight and is so worried that she will be the heaviest one in the house. She is very tall and mature for her age and well proportioned unlike me. I don't want her to feel ashamed. Do I go ahead with surgery or cancel?? I told her we would work together but she says I have the easy part. What do I say? What do I do??

Hi, Has anyone ever cheated on their Pre-op diet? If so, how did you restart yourself to make sure you were good for surgery? I am just curious. I feel like I would be that one person that just cheats midway through.

Very new here! My surgery is in 18 days. The anxiety is kicking in. I'm trying not to compare myself to others/ but I'm really trying to get advice from as many people as I can about their experiences. How they calmed themselves down, what they brought to the hospital, advice on what to help with the pain the first few days, how long until you can really move around without being in pain, a general idea of how much weight you lost in the first 2 months, I just feel like getting more information and stories and advice will calm me so much more. I have severe anxiety and depression. I know this is going to change my life and really turn things around for me. I also have pco…

As I approach making a decision one way or another, there are two things that I am concerned with, well actually tons but those can come later. I am a little freaked out about vitamins. I already take a multivitamin and it is no big deal. I buy regular vitamins that deliver 1000% of the daily requirement of everything. My nutrition person says those are fine. I pay like 20 buck for 9 billion pills. I see others talking spend $150 a month for vitamins. Am I missing something? The second question is sort of related. I have to take a medicine that is a horse pill. It is pretty big. I have no issue taking it now but I am worried that I will be able to take…

I have done great all day, and was looking forward to some chicken broth tonight. The chicken broth on my list must be 140 mg or less of sodium per serving. I found some Campbell's on-line. IT TASTES LIKE DIRTY FEET! And it smells even worse. I tried dumping some pepper in it - didn't help - ugh.....

Hi guys, I was wondering if someone could talk to me about their experience of 'food addiction' prior to bariatric surgery. Did you need to see a psychologist ? Or go for therapy ? How has the process affected you ? Do you think the bariatric surgery was the only option to controlling yourself Just asking as over the past 4 years when I gained 40kg (90lbs-ish) i have lost my ability to control myself around food. Binge followed by regret, promising myself to never have it again breaking the promise etc what I eat , how much etc. Thanks.

Hi everyone, I am really excited about this whole process and journey i am about to start, however, my nerves are beginning to get the best of me. I have a primary insurance of healthfirst with secondary insurance of medicaid, As per my PCP guidance, I have been working with her every month to document food and attempt of weightloss since healthfirst requires a 6 month "attempt" before submitting a request for the gastric sleeve surgery, and a BMI of 40% or higher . My pre-op appointment is march 14, that is when i will see the nutristionist and turn in all my paperwork (endoscopy, med journal, psych eval, PCP recommendation letter etc). This is my first time in …
