I have read about so many different pre op diets like 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, liquid diets, low carb diets. What kind of diets were you put on pre op? Also do you know why you were put on this diet? Also leave stats, where your from and surgery date if you have one.

Is all right for me drink for me drink Celebrate Meal Replacement Shakes and what about Bariatricpal Fruit 15g Protein Drinks

Hi! I am pre-op and seriously gathering information on my vitamens, medications and diet. Has anyone used Vitamin Patches? Any positive or negative? Have you been recommended to take the patch? Have you been told the vitamin patches don't work well? Curious mind wants to know!

Hi. I am scheduled for sleeve surgery in June. I am pretty sure that I am going to NEED a nutritionist after my surgery. One that is experienced in bariatric surgery patients. I have been seeing one at the hospital where my surgery will be done, but I am not sure she is right for me. How would I go about finding someone? I tried googling it, but I only seem to be coming up with nuts from other surgical programs. Would they take an "outside" patient?

Surgery date coming up soon just wanted to know what you guys brought to pre-op that helped you prepare for post op? Anything to help with gas? Pain? Etc.

I am starting unjury today and there isn't a scoop in the container. Can anyone tell me - how much is a scoop size? I am not familiar with 27 grams which is what the container says a serving size is. Is it 2 tablespoons? A quarter cup? What? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!!! I have ordered the chocolate and strawberry sorbet.

Friday my doctor told me my Bmi was 69.4 and being that I'm not to heath cautious she automatically said she wad sending in a recommendation for the surgery because I have been diagnosed with copd and I have high blood pressure. I had seen two hematologist but I still have concerns even though they gave me the okay because I don't feel like they really listened to me .. It is really hard for me to diet and I am afraid that after my Sleeve I wont be able to have good self control. I have a huge sweet tooth and I need to learn to control it but as a food addict I would like to know how the sleeve helped or challenged your addiction.

Hello Bariatric Pals, After a year of back and forth, I was sick enough to get the Gastric ByPass approval from the insurance. I start my Pre-Op High Protien liquid Diet tomorrow with surgery scheduled on 03/30/2017. I am very nervous about how this liquid died week will be. Please share your stories and insight when you went through this. Like everybody on this board, looking for positive vibes. I am also nervous about the surgery, is that normal? Has anyone been approved through Cigna NY? They only require 3 months and it seems too good to be true. I require BMI over 40 since I have no co morbidities. Thoughts?

After 3 weeks, I finally called my insurance company and I found out I was APPROVED! I am so excited, I have been psyching myself out for all of this time. Next step is scheduling. I have to do a Upper GI, blood work, and. NUT class before surgery. I am so excited! Its finally real!

Hey anyone else awaiting their sleep apnea results? Is anyone else nervous from reading about other people's posts on this topic? Hey all... my surgery is scheduled for May 18th and right now I have 4 jeans that fit comfortably and 1 that's a little tight but I can manage and about 10 shirts. I'm on the fence on whether I should buy a few pairs that I can fit now or just make do with what I have since surgery is less than two months away and I wouldn't be in them long after (most likely). What do you guys think should I just wait and make do with the few jeans and shirts I have or should I get a few to get by until it's time to go down a size or two or three...

Hi. I am having the sleeve done in June, I have been SOOO EXCITED...up until lately. Now, I'm getting REALLY nervous. My family has bee n extremely supportive, but recently, they have been telling me they are concerned that I won't be able to stay on a new "diet". I pretty much ONLY eat carbs. I have lost 100+lbs before, but gained it back. My question is, did anyone else out there have the kind of diet before surgery that I have now? In my mibd I am COMPLETELY DEDICATED to being successful, but I'm scared.

Ok I'm about to get super personal and I need some advise. I was wondering if there's hope for me I was diagnosed with a eating disorder... Binge disorder. Look it up if your not familiar with it. Am on day 3 for the pre op diet and have been so depressed since starting it. Because my BMI is over 50> I have to do two weeks of nothing but Protein shakes,sugar free Jello,water,and sugar free popsicles . So so far I have only cheated once with a small bite of pre cooked chicken but the other day I stopped by McDonalds and ordered to chicken biscuits, but I didn't eat them . I went home and tossed them in the trash and cried . Am also having trouble falling asleep at night. Anybody else have have these problems?

Anyone taking bariatric supplements/vitamins pre-op? If so, how has it been working out for you? I'm running out of my regular stuff that was recommended by my surgeon (Vit D (1x/wk), ALIVE Multivitamins, and calcium) and am thinking to just purchase bariatric Vitamins. Not sure yet. I'm wondering about the overload of vitamins and minerals a pre-op body doesn't require.

I am a teacher and decided to bring hot cheetos in as a reward for some of my kids. Yes I know not the healthiest but I do not reward them with food on a regular basis. A little treat now and then is ok. I had never tried them before and one of the kids said try it and so I did and I liked it. At the end of the day when everyone left i had almost 3 serving sizes of them. I am doing weight watchers right now so i counted all the points. I never ever though hot cheetos would trigger me. Feeling helpless just got a call from my surgeons office saying bariatric surgery is not covered by my insurance! I'm so depressed right now when i first had my consult they called for benefits stating i had 85% coverage now they're saying i have no coverage i just want to cry! [emoji24]

Does anyone know how long it takes for your surgeon to get back to you to know I've been medically cleared for RNY? I finished all my evaluation requirements as of 2/23/17. I then called the surgeons office as I was told to. The nurse told me my surgeon will now go over everything and get approval and then call me to set up a surgery date. After a week, I called again and was told the surgeon has my file and now I have to wait for the call. It's been almost 3 weeks and no clue what to do now. Should I call again? I don't want to come off as annoying for doing this. I'm just so impatient right now. Any advice would be great!

Four days into my pre op diet, I can say I'm feeling ok, I only have to do one week and it's almost over. I'm getting sleeved on march 27th.

I am a little over half way threw my 6 month weight loss management. I have lossed 11 pounds so far. My fear is if I loose a good amount of weight they may say I can do it without the surgery. Has anyone gone threw this?

I had a fun time llooking at everyone's amazing progress. I did notice that many people in their after photos who might still be considered medically overweight or even obese based on the weight they posted next to their pictures looked damn good and yes accounting for height etc and all that! I mean many definitely did not look anywhere near the weight they were. They looked much smaller but yet the scale would beg to differ. Have you noticed the same thing? Is this common with weight loss surgery in particular? I was baffled in some cases. I hope I have the same experience. I would love to look 160-170 at 200 lbs or example.

Before your pre-op, did you put yourself on food intake control or you ate everything and anything your heart desired? Seriously since my 1st visit back in october.... I've gained the 60lbs lost the previous months (may to oct). The more I wait for my surgery the more I get fustrated and my eating disorder kicks in big time. (Binge/bulemia). It took about 5 years to get the 1st consult and now this waiting period is getting the best of me..... Anyone from anywhere in this world can help me out?

What clear Protein drinks did you all use? They suggest one for us but I forgot to write it down and it smelled like it looked, plasticy! I thought I would be able to use Premier Protein but it isn't clear. Suggestions please! Have to stalk up in the next week!

Hi everyone! I am feeling so frustrated right now. I got my EGD on 3/6.. I was told once I got the all clear from that test that my information would be submitted to insurance the following day. It has been over two weeks and they still have not submitted it. The first time I called the office I was told that the person who does it for my dr. is on vacation. Ok! Hello everyone, I'm new to the community. I will be having my last dietitian meeting on 3/23/17 and will be starting my pre op diet once I have my surgery date! I'm very excited and have done my research and have decided the sleeve is the best option for me. My mom and sister are supportive but my dad is completely against it. I am 2 months (and 2 dietician meetings) into my 6 month supervised nutrition requirement. But I have yet to have anyone give me any type of pre-surgery weight loss requirements. Does Anthem require a certain amount of weight loss in that 6 months, or just the proof that you've been on some type of program? Any insight is appreciated.
