Growing impatient

Does anyone know how long it takes for your surgeon to get back to you to know I've been medically cleared for RNY?

I finished all my evaluation requirements as of 2/23/17. I then called the surgeons office as I was told to. The nurse told me my surgeon will now go over everything and get approval and then call me to set up a surgery date. After a week, I called again and was told the surgeon has my file and now I have to wait for the call.

It's been almost 3 weeks and no clue what to do now. Should I call again? I don't want to come off as annoying for doing this. I'm just so impatient right now.

Any advice would be great!

  • Can you try your insurance company and see if its been submitted yet. Maybe he's waiting on approval to come in from the imsurance company.

I'd keep bugging them. It depends on what insurance you have. It took me less than a day of them submitting my paperwork to know if I got approved for surgery. If you have questions for them, don't he

I would call the insurance and see if the request has been submitted. Most insurance companies have 30 days to approve or deny a claim or prior authorization.

I left my doctors office Friday and they are submitting to the insurance, too. Now, I've been waiting just since Friday and I'm on pins and needles. If I have to go 3 weeks with no word, I might go bonkers!

Hang in there!! Good luck!

Took all of 10 days. I had done the psych eval, the 3 months with the dietician, and my regular doc was in agreement. Maybe this is why it happened so fast? Surgery date is 6/19.
