Good Bye...

Good bye. ..McDonald's Sweet Tea. I will miss your sweetness. You are my most favorite drink in the world. I spent good money on you week after week. But that's all over.

Good bye....candy. Oh candy. Our relationship is almost 40 years old. Many times you have been my best friend. Any and all types of candy. I have loved you all. There is something so fabulous about eating candy...but the reality is that you were a bandaid to my life. If I got upset, happy, mad or sad...you were always there. But that's all over.

Good bye Cool Ranch Doritos and Lime Tostitos. You two were good for a night time hang out. But that's all over.

Good bye Soda...esp Wild Cherry Pepsi. I mean come on your WILD and quick and easy to find at every check out aisle in every store. But that's all over.

Today I am breaking up with all of you. I am starting my Day 1 of PreOp. Your power and control over me are no more. I am ready to make new friends. Friends that will take care of my body, heal my body, nourish my body....not slowly try to kill me. You and I have had a lifetime together. But your time has ended and mine is just beginning....and you will not have any power left over me.

Sincerely,

The girl who loved you too much but realizes she deserves more.

Am I the only one who absolutely can't stand the taste of that fake sugar?
Have tried it again and again and just can't make myself like it or any products I taste with that stuff in it.

Try Stevia. It is better than Splenda and it's natural. I can't stand Splenda..it's,a chemical and it's nasty.

Have yiu ever tried Monkfruit? I see it all the time with the Stevia and I haven't made the plunge to try.

I dunno, can I trust a public bathroom destroyer?

I kid.. I'll give it a try, I actually saw it in a certain area of the store with a number of other substitutes. I think it was the baking aisle of all things.

No I haven't tried monk fruit but I have read a lot about it .

Lol. Just make sure you get real stevia and not the blend or truvia.

Also, you can find these 2 movies on Netflix. They are great and you will find them an immense help in looking at food differently. HUNGRY FOR CHANGE & FOOD MATTERS.
I promise you will enjoy them. Watch Hungry for Change first. :)

Anejo for Mexican food in Calgary - they make the guacamole right at your table and it's absolutely the best! That'll be my treat once in a while after my surgery :-) As you probably gathered, I'm in Calgary too. My VSG won't be for another 8-11 months...

i used to be just like you... then I got type 2 and had no choice. I got used to it after a few months and now I use it in anything I would have used sugar in. Some things I have just gotten used to eating unsweetned, ice tea is one.

I thought I was broken up for good with some things but I had a one night stand with a bowl of Golden Grahams tonight

Now that I have my surgery date I have been struggling with thoughts of should I have one last taste of some things that I know need to be off the menu.

I can sympathize with you.

I had two months of that thinking. I was not kind to January and February, let me tell you. But I've been doing my low carb for two and a half weeks and lost fifteen pounds...then those delicious little squares happened to me. I'm ashamed. But, tomorrow's a new day and I'll get back on track. I think my calories and carbs have been way too low anyway, so this may not have been such a bad thing. It's good to confuse the body every now and then..keep it guessing.

I love that! So much it literally brought a tear to my eye. Mostly because before surgery I could relate to every word you wrote. Congratulations on your successful break up and good luck on the rest of your journey!
