Anyone have any issues with a rash from the protein drinks? I have tried different ones and this rash just won't go away! I am afraid that it may be a reaction to some of the vitamins in them. Any suggestions?

Just had my pre-op surgeon meeting... I've got 7 more days till surgery. I got here so apprehensive that I was almost in tears... I kept thinking things like, will I ever enjoy eating again? Will I ever be able to have lunch out with friends again? Will I be so miserable I regret the surgery? Am I a failure because I have to resort to surgery to lose weight? How will my husband and son (and my pets) handle a couple days without me while I'm hospitalized? Am I going to have complications? Is this all worth it? Do I really want to give up sweets, Snacks, steaks, sodas, etc... FOREVER?? After talking to my surgeon, nurse, and nutritionist... I do feel a little better... b…

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site but have been reading the comments here. My question/concern is this: I'm a low BMI pre op sleever (35) and I'm concerned about losing weight pre op. My concern is that if I loose too much weight, my insurance (federal bcbs) won't cover me. Does anyone else going through this? It's looking more and more that Mexico might be the option for me! I was sorta, kinda, maybe wondering if there are any cornhuskers out there that are at the beginning stages of everything? I'd love to find someone to go through this with step by step. I've gone to my initial consultation and now I await the dreaded 3 weeks to hear back from insurance for a decision. They did put me on the books for my 3 hour block appointments late February and blood work in march. And what the hell, I suppose you Iowans are welcomed as well Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Okay; so i had a baby 6.5 months ago, and i was breast feeding up until she was about 2 months which was when i started my 6 month program. I was weighed right before i stopped and mu initial weight was 256. But since i stopped breastfeeding all the fat calories that were going into my milk held on to my body and i gained 8 pounds in a month. I am on month 4 out of 6 and Since that i haven't gained anything, but im worried because i did gain that insurance may have a problem. I do think i will lose weight on the 2 week liquid diet before surgery and im sure i can lose that 8 maybe even more. But Did anyone else gain weight while pre op and still get approved with insuranc…

Thank you for adding me. I really need help and encouragement as I am very confused. I have a surgery date for Sleeve on February 14th and to be honest, I have not done a lot of research which I am slowly doing now. I only met my surgeon once and the next time I will meet him will be on the day of my surgery. I don't have preoperative diet and post operative diet. I am from Canada and this surgery is covered. I lose 65 lbs recently doing ketogenic diet and this opportunity came along. I am really scared and contemplating of not getting the surgery since I was able to lose weight on my own. However, part of me still want this surgery. I started 297 lbs and I am now 230 lbs…

I am at the information gathering stage of my journey and called United Healthcare to ask about their requirements for bariatric surgery. I have the United Healthcare Choice EP1 H M O plan and wanted to know if I needed to provide a 5 years weight history and/or required to do a 6 month supervised diet. After getting transferred from one rep to another, the first person I spoke to said that he was not medically trained to provide information about the weight history requirements. Huh????? I wasn't asking for his opinion on the matter; I was asking for what my plan requires. The next rep I spoke with only had information about the bmi requirements which I already kn…

Hello all, I have an appointment with my PCP on Thursday for an insurance required referral. I'm a little nervous! I'm not sure how to open the conversation, I don't know if he's a supporter of bariatric surgery, and he doesn't know me well. He's only been my PCP for about a year. Granted, he can pull medical records if he needs to.... but the 'what ifs' keep running through my head. I'd be majorly bummed if he won't refer me. What should I bring with me? I plan on having insurance requirements printed out, but what else? TIA! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Well, met with my surgeon for the first time today. She was delightful and optimistic. However, she says I need to lose 10 pounds in two weeks and then she will add me to the schedule for surgery. Was I surprised? No, I've been moderately indulging in the foods that I will miss during my weight loss journey. I haven't gained any or loss any since my last weigh in a month ago. Therefore, I'm on it!....More miles on my treadmill...cut out the sweets, and curb the carbs....I know what to do....Now, I have to do it!....I love a challenge and I love to prove people wrong....so in 14 days...I will see if I'm SERIOUS about this surgery. This forum answers so many unknown que…

So I’m located in Austria, and it’s interesting to see how different the process to getting the surgery is here compared to the US. I called the surgeon in November and got an appointment on January 5th. A 5 week wait. I was there, we talked, and he approved me for the fast track. He didn't recomment the sleeve, but the bypass or the mini bypass. He said he could decide which once he looks inside if I can't decide which one I want. He called the following Monday and told me my surgery date is April 18th. Now my process really starts. I have 2 appointment days at the hospital, one day is to see a nutritionist, a physical therapist and a psychologist. Before the nex…

Hi I'm booked in for sleeve April 19th. I am 2 weeks into cutting out sugar, lowering carbs and increasing Protein and healthy fats - really want to try and address my sugar addiction before op. My question is concerned that pre op Optifast diet is very high in sugar. A is there a sugar free option? Also healthy fats is really working for me and I do believe thAt sugar is the real enemy and not fats but I note that all the guidelines still push low fat after operation. So I officially completed my psych evaluation today, and am attending the nutrition class Saturday, plus doing my swallow test Feb 6th. I'm super excited but now I do have a few questions I hope someone can help with. I'd ask my doctor but his office is so busy they can take up to a week to get back to you. 1. I know I'm close to my surgery date. How long after your swallow test did you have your surgery? 2. I have a minor shoulder issue that needs to be corrected and have surgery on Feb 3rd. I'll be discharged within an hour but will have my arm in a sling for 6 weeks. Can this delay the sleeve surgery? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just found this app and wow I'm happy I did. I am a 23 year old female from New York and I weigh 325 pounds.. I have always been overweight my whole life. And enough is enough. I have 2 more months of the nutritionist meeting before I get cleared for my surgery. I'm so nervous I can puke! Hearing other people's experience helps ease my nerves so please tell away. I have to lose 16 pounds by first week of March so that my insaurance can pay for it. I feel like I can't reach that. Did anyone else have an issue with it? I'm going to say sorry from the get go that this has probably been posted a thousand times before by others. I know I am not a beautiful or unique snowflake I suppose it's just a matter of needing a place to vent my final thoughts/concerns going into this. My surgery is next Wednesday, January 25th. I've been on this road since May 2016 so it's not as if I haven't had time to ponder these things, but after meeting with my surgeon yesterday to do the final consent forms I'm mildly freaking out a bit. I've been lurking for some time and I share in many of the struggles that others have. It's not that I'm a fast food maniac and I really don't have a sweet tooth. My main …

Headed to Mexico on February 7th. How am I feeling? Well that is a good question. I am excited about the future, worried about the future, nervous of complications since I do not have insurance and my surgeon will be so far away. Honestly I backed out of my January date because I let my fears get the best I me. But this time non refundable ticket bought and I am going through with it. I am encouraged by all of the success stories and then freaked out about all the complications. Lol. Yep, you do not want to be in my head right now. Starting pre op diet next Tuesday.
