Hey everyone! I just started my 6 months supervised 2 months ago. I had my first appointment February 12th. My psychological evaluation just last week, and that's it, so far. I am looking into the sleeve surgery and my surgeon has recommended it for me, as well. I thought that I would give this app a try because right now, I will take all of the support/advice I can! I also need to battle quitting smoking, along with food! Hi all, My insurance does not require referrals, so I didn't talk to my primary care doctor about weight loss surgery prior to having a consult with the bariatric surgeon's office. At the initial consult with the bariatric surgeon's office though they indicated I would need to complete 6 months of medically supervised dieting with my primary care. Today I had an appointment with my primary care to start the 6 months of medically supervised dieting required by insurance. When I was explaining the insurance and surgeon office requirements it seemed like she had never dealt with weight loss surgery, and she seemed a bit unsure of what her role was in this whole thing. I was to begin my pre op diet on Dec 25th for the Jan 3rd date. So I went ahead and started the diet so that when they decided the date of my rescheduled surgery I'd be ready and wouldn't have to wait 10 more dates. What I have found is I am having constipation issues and don't know what to do about it? They did reschedule me for Jan 18th at 7:30 AM, Woot woot which I am totally excited but I don't want to deal with constipation issues up till then nor afterwards if I can ward it off. 28. So, my father's side of the family has a history of polycystic kidneys. This usually appears in the mid 30's. I have been tested and am almost 40, so I don't think it will affect me. However, since Protein consumption is not good for polycystic kidneys, has anyone dealt with this? My fear is that post surgery, I might eventually get this and then I will have issues with protein. Hello All! My name is Carlos and I'm scheduled to have my gastric sleeve done on April 2nd by Dr David Suh. I'm currently 6'3 and weigh 360 lbs. Dr Suh has put me on a high protein low carb diet and is having me take Prilosec and 1000 mg of vitamin c on a daily basis. My question is will I be put on a liquid diet a couple of weeks prior to surgery? As with any surgery, i'm just a little bit nervous. Do you guys have any suggestions to do before surgery to make it a smoother recovery? Thanks for your help!

I have a question for all of you vets (although anyone with experience or thoughts on this topic are most welcome). I am completely at peace with the food restrictions but I am very anxious about the drinking experience (I don't mean alcohol). There are few things more satisfying to me than chugging a nice cold beverage after a day in the sun or after a workout. I know small sips are the norm post-op but for how long? Will I ever be able to down Water when thirsty without getting sick? I am really afraid I'll miss this.

I'm an American living in Taiwan so I will have this surgery here which will be a little easier financially. Taiwan generally has good healthcare. I went to my first Bariatric appointment today and I was really impressed with the clinic, the staff, and the surgeon. Everything was smooth and everyone was friendly to me. The surgeon suggested gastric bypass over sleeve because I have quite a sweet tooth. I also did a psych evaluation which I think went okay. I deal with some depression and anxiety but i take medication for it already. My motivations for losing …

  38. So, I changed insurances to one that covers VSG. As per usual, there are 983 hoops to jump through as well as all the co-pays, deductible, and co-insurance payment for the surgery. I'd probably end up paying the same amount after all that. Honestly, after reading so much here, I'd almost just rather forget the insurance crap & head to Mexico!! Has anyone done this? Thoughts? I just read a response from someone on my thread who said that Bypass and Sleeve choices should be a personal choice and they really were right about that! Lol I just wish I had of seen that bit of advice when texting to my sister in-law who will be sleeved on 1/31 and she wanted to know why the Bypass for me since again "you're not that big" so I listed my reasons to the Bypass vs the sleeve for ME and she stopped texting. I'm not saying that the Sleeve is a bad choice but I know of a few people who have been sleeved and two years later they want a revision and they are trying to get approvals or they are trying to diet like they did post opp and losing the battle. …

I picked my GYN faxed the surgeons office the clearance letter everything was fine. Now the patient advocate called and said I have to have another clearance letter because the one she has does not say I'm medically cleared for surgery. She said it only states I'm cleared from a GYN standpoint. Well what's the point in telling women we can use a GYN if at the end you're also going to need a clearance letter from your primary doctor? I've already been approved. This is so frustrating to me. I'm just ready to give up. I don't have a primar…
