So I have been back and forth from making the decision on if I should have the Sleeve or the Roux Y Gastric Bypass surgery. Finally after much debating and interviewing family and friends who have had one or the other I made the choice. My surgery is/was set for Feb 6 for the Sleeve but I am going to call them tomorrow to change my procedure. I also found that my surgeon has been a pro and has had way more experience with the RYG Bypass even having it done himself. So I am hoping that this doesn't change my surgery date and that my insurance (that actually sucks because it rolled over Jan 1 vs August like I was told) will cover it and etc... I am thanking all …

So last night I was snuggling up to hubby and he turned away slightly... I asked him what's wrong and he said softly, "Maybe you should brush your teeth." But I just had. I said eagerly, "Do I have bad breath?" He hesitated and then said, "Yes, it's pretty awful but I didn't want to say anything coz I love you." I said "But that's WONDERFUL news. Sooo exciting!" He looked at me like I was crazy (maybe I am) I explained that I had been worried that I was doing something wrong because I don't feel lethargic, hungry, no headaches and only mild tummy pains (since horrible tummy pains and nausea on Day 3 - I'm now day 6 Optifast). He then said it had been "a bit off…

So in the beginning my husband was hesitant about being on board with me having the surgery. But after meeting with my surgeon he felt better about it. My mom was on board my father not so much. But the one thing my sisters, cousins and friends all keep saying the same thing. " You don't need surgery. You are not that big. You just need Will Power" blah blah blah... I have a BMI of 39, hbp, sleep apnea, PCOS, rheumatoid arthritis in my lower back from my surgeries (2 to be exact) and of course Fibromyalgia! I just turned 40 years old!!! I have a family history of diabetes and obesity.... Trying to explain to them that doctors don't just perform the surgery because I …

I'm new to all of this. Have Humana ins. with a bmi of 33.9 and weigh 203 currently but have high blood pressure, prediabetes, non alcoholic fatty liver disease, severe GERD and I could go on and on. Not sure if primary will approve with letter or insurance will approve? Also, I've been going to a dr. supervised weight loss clinic for a year and only lost 26 lbs plus gained 8 back. Now down again slightly. It is very frustrating. Will this count as my 3-6 months weight loss trial? Any experience with these issues? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Can anyone tell me why prior to surgery I was so adamant on trying to get approved for surgery. Now that my surgery is less than 4 days away.. I am so nervous I'm questioning everything now. It does not help either when you have people in your ear telling you, you need to think about what you're doing, or telling you NOT to do it!!! All these emotions..these negative people around me. So I started my Preop diet yesterday, (still waiting on an actual date) I drink about 40 Oz Water yesterday and started to notice my urine was pale yellow by the end of the day...today I drink 48 Oz before having to "go" and noticed my urine was damn near translucent...I just drink my last 20 Oz for the day...my question is, is that healthy??? Especially for the second day of preop? I'm not really a big drinker of water so it's a big shock to me. Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App

Hi everyone, I had lapband surgery in 2009, and then it was removed in 2012. I had a huge issue with my gallbladder, which caused pancreatitis. I was in the hospital for a week, and also had been having complications with my band. The doctor at the time recommended that we take my band out, and do a revision. I feel like such a baby, I didn't feel like I was ready for a revision. I wish now I had done it. Fast forward to 2017, and I have gained all the weight back I lost with my band. I turn 41 this month and have mild hypertension. I can't seem to get the weight off, I will do really well for a bit, and then gain it all back again. I remember when I had my …

Hello all!! Well my date is fast approaching (Dec. 6th) . I'm starting to wonder if having a surgery pal might be helpful to anyone or for myself. It appears that the change is going to be both physically and emotionally taxing, so I figure it wouldn't hurt to have someone available who relates step by step. We can swap some diet stages recipes... Maybe even be a workout partner in the near future. Anyone else have a date set early December? Are you in the ATL Georgia area? I would love to find a surgery buddy!!! Hope to hear from you soon. Sent from Dee~Dee via BariatricPal

Hi all, My name is Misty and I'm new to the app. I am 38 and 260 lbs I have not been overweight my entire life but the weight came on after a full hysterectomy in my 20's. I made an appointment to meet with a surgeon which I did on 12/8. The office had already verified my insurance didn't require a supervised diet or waiting period. Since then I have gotten all of the requirements to the surgeons office. They don't keep me updated...I'm very confused. When I seen the surgeon he asked what procedure I was interested in, I told him the sleeve and he asked why. I had told him I thought risks and downtime was minimal with the sleeve. He told me that was not the case and he …

Now that we are in the new year, I am officially counting down the days until my surgery! I have all of my pre-op tests done, and the only thing left for me to do is have my final pre-op appointment with my surgeon on January 5. When I spoke with my surgeon's nurse last week, she said I will be on a liquid diet for one week pre-op, and clear liquids one day before the actual surgery. She also said that I will have my surgery on Tuesday, January 17, and I will be required to stay in the hospital for 2 nights, so I will be released to come home on Thursday. As much as I would love to come home quickly, I am kind of happy that I will be staying for a few days in order to ma…

I was all prepped, rolled into or, I was given a dose of a common routine antibiotic called ancef, seconds later i was vomiting, my entire body was brought red and burning, my tongue and throat swelled up and couldn't breathe.
